Best Buy ups the bar with the best 3DR Solo bundle yet
0Best Buy has assembled a 3DR Solo bundle that includes:
3DR Solo drone kit with battery
3DR 3D gimbal
3DR Solo spare battery
3DR Solo spare rotors
3DR Solo custom backpack
All for the low, low price of $399 with free shipping. That’s a hell of a bundle for four hundred bucks. Solo, transmitter, TWO batteries, charger, 3D gimbal and a spare set of rotors!
My Solo was stolen in a home burglary about 8 days ago, so I’m seriously considering this option. Unfortunately all my drone cameras were also stolen, so I’d have to get a GoPro as well, driving that $400 price closer to $750.

sorry to hear about the break in. Hope your insurance is covering the loses.
@DJMajickMan Thank you. No homeowner’s insurance coverage for many years now (long story) so the loss is my own to bear. But the timing of this deal is opportune. Just have to decide if I want to replace it with another Solo, or look for a P3 Pro for about 20% higher cost (once including the cost of replacing the GoPro).
If I didn’t have a Mavic on order…
@fultonmartin I thought about Mavic to replace the Solo, but I really want the extended app capabilities. I should probably look again at Mavic and determine what it’s strengths and weaknesses are. But that Solo bundle is SUCH a great price for what is truly a top shelf piece of hardware and software. About $420 including shipping and tax… dang.
@ruouttaurmind The Mavic’s portability is the real attraction for me. Being able to carry it, its controller, and a couple of batteries on my bicycle (or motorcycle) puts it in a class by itself–so far. And there appear to be a number of after-market apps that give DJI high-end drones more extensive mission capabilities.
sorry to hear about the theft @ruouttaurmind. Did they get your other drones? Maybe you can get a mavic or a P3 now? The P3 standard can be had for $399 (i saw it a few days ago but not sure if it was a special black friday or cyber monday deal). Of course you would probably be getting the pro vs the standard.
@garyhgaryh I’ve noticed the P3 Standard just about everywhere for $399. If I was gonna spend $400 on the Standard, yup, I’d definitely spring for a few more bucks and get the Pro. The $600 P3Pro at Newegg was a bargain.
Best Buy is practically giving away their Solo kits too though. I would still have to get a GoPro, but I really do like the ability to separate my camera from my drone and use it on another drone, or whatever other mayhem infused, hairbrained scheme I’m up to.
Most of the other drones were sold off on eBay a few months ago. I’ve been working towards the goal of purchasing an Inspire. Nearly had my cash together to swing it, then the burglary. I’ve spent a wad and a half repairing damage and securing the house. Tons of security measures, building bars for the windows, I even bough a huge new safe with plenty of room for my electronics as well as my 2nd Amend stuff.
So… for now I do nothing. Start scraping cash again, and wait to see where the hobby goes.
