At a convention in Illinois, West was doing the official photo ops in costume when he spotted the fact that the next person in line was the convicted-but-not-yet-incarcerated former Governor Rod Blagojevich. He declined to permit the shot unless Blagojevich was in handcuffs because Batman would not be socializing with a convicted felon. One of the cops obligingly provided the cuffs, and the photo happened. Blagojevich and West were in other photos in which West was out of costume; at least one of those is posted online.
@00 He’s never mentioned on the lists of actors who had the role for the very simple reason that he turned it down. He never played Batman. He could have, but he didn’t.
@werehatrack Awesome. When I wrote that, I thought I was going to get 17 versions of this reply. I’m honestly shocked that it took so long. I don’t know why I have 2 random facts about that guy. But I somehow I do. Ha!
All the Batmans… batmen? Have been so different that it’s sorta difficult to pick one that was just good at everything. I think R Patt was a solid Batman, but not a good Bruce Wayne (yet). I loved Iain Glen as Batman in Titans, but we just don’t get enough of him. Adam West is classic as the caped crusader, but the show is campy.
One thing, however, is beyond dispute: THE BEST CATWOMAN WAS AND EVER SHALL BE EARTHA KITT!
Bruce Wayne.
Always go with the classic. Reproductions and re-releases may be prettier and actionier, but nothing is better than the original.
@hchavers So Lewis Wilson?
The one yet to be seen.
Adam West (the original) because even as he was traveling a few years ago he took the time to pose for a picture with my nephew at the airport!

@werehatrack Wow!
I’ve never understood why Kevin Kline is never mentioned on the Actors Who Played Batman lists.
And, does everyone know that he’s married to Phoebe Cates are married?
@00 Yep! And Phoebe Cates owns a store in Manhattan, where people routinely come in and tell her she looks like Phoebe Cates.

OWLS! TOWELS! JOWLS! AWESOME!
Adam West is my vote (for most things, not just Batman), but I’ve read that Diedrich Bader voices a very good Batman.
It’s certainly not Robert Pattinson, that I can assure you.
LEGO Batman!

@Grimscribbles No one purred like Eartha! She was born for that role!
@mehrrychristmas that’s exactly what I always say!
Adam West for TV
Michael Keaton for Movies
I only know the “right” answer is Adam West, because my 11 y/o son has taught me well.
Will Arnett. I really enjoyed the Lego Batman movie.
Was there more than one? I can’t remember.
There is only one perfect Batman voice and that is Kevin Conroy’s. Perfect variants for Bruce Wayne too.
