@michaelahess I don't know what that means. I did find a baby rabbit in the garage at my old house. Poor lil guy must've been in there awhile. He didn't make it.
@medz Ah poor little guy. Just disposed of a poor little mouse, trap didn't snap his neck, he tried to chew through the metal before succumbing. It was an attempt at VW humor. But your response just made me tear up.
Goethe’s final words: “More light.” Ever since we crawled out of that primordial slime, that’s been our unifying cry: “More light.” Sunlight. Torchlight. Candlight. Neon. Incandescent. Lights that banish the darkness from our caves, to illuminate our roads, the insides of our refrigerators. Big floods for the night games at Soldier’s Field. Little tiny flashlights for those books we read under the covers when we’re supposed to be asleep. Light is more than watts and footcandles. Light is metaphor. “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet.” “Rage, rage against the dying of the light.” “Lead, Kindly Light, amid the encircling gloom — Lead Thou me on! The night is dark, and I am far from home — Lead Thou me on!” “Arise, shine, for thy light has come.”
Light is knowledge. Light is life. Light is light.
Got one last time it was on meh. When I use the USB port to charge my phone it occasionally glitches out and none of the buttons will work until I disconnect the power plug.
Otherwise makes a nice reading light for the bedside.
Kinda want to get in on this, as I like crazy hybrid devices, but I'm guessing the white light is really intense. Warmer yellow lights are more my thing.
@Dash Oh, that's an easy fix. You can get a color filter that is slightly yellow to warm the color temperature. Going from "bright" white to "warm" white is easy, you just can't go the other way (to my knowledge).
NOT IMPRESSED WITH THE 2 LIGHT/RADIO/ALARMS...NEITHER WORKED RIGHT. TOTAL MEH.. SHAME ON YOU BEM, AND MEH, MAY WANT TO RECONSIDER THIS BRAND. Oops sry caps
Worth noting that bem is meh backwards, if you took out the bottom of the "b", which someone has, as it's floating over the "e" on the box, except that the "b" hasn't updated yet.
I got one last time. It's nice to have my smartphone lull me to sleep with the sound of ocean waves. The only complaint I had was easy to fix. The buttons are completely smooth, so you can't tell which one turns on the light when it's dark. Simple solution: stick something rough on the light switch.
@densa .. Well from what this guy has (one blue tooth) it's hardly apt to call it 'teeth' as others may only have one blue tooth themselves and speaking on an individual basis tooth sounded more appropriate.. Yes, I know, it's all academic but.. (shrug).. that's my way.
I got another bem product on meh before (the alarm clock with the big light on top) and kinda regretted it; I was assuming the light, when used as an alarm, would turn on gradually (not sure if that was suggested or I just assumed it), and it does, but goes through its three settings in about 2 seconds, so not really. Also, the light also turns on by itself sometimes, and in the middle of the night that can spark marital conflicts. Anyway, I'd stay away from this brand.
@jcgarza .. But we're talkin' twenty bucks here.. You couldn't take your main squeeze out to an impressive lunch on twenty bucks.. I'm gonna give it a shot just for the speaker phone thingy (my speaker phone blows).
A speaker dock by itself would've made a questionable gift. Combining it with a lamp gives it enough extra utility to make it seem thoughtful. Thanks Meh!
This brings back memories of evenings when I used to sit at a desk, studying, etc. I don't know anyone who does that now. So while this is an intriguing idea, I think I'll wait until the light of day to decide.
@sligett If you wait until the light of day, then you won't need the light of the speaker, and thus will not be as susceptible to the charms of this device.
I was going to use the lamp to study for midterms, but this little black box also played music. You know I just had to listen to that new heavyweight-mix-legal music, Lionel Richiey SON! Now I'm slingin burners on the corner, you know that new Adele shit! I'm just sayin, buyer beware.... JUST WATCHIN OUT FOR YA BOY!
I bought one of these the last time. I figured it would make a nice device at work - no speakers in my work PC, and the speakers in my monitor (a feature that I thought would be a good idea) aren't loud enough for anything except background music. Then after I bought this, I started having buyer's remorse. Who wants to listen to music in mono, right? We've have this new-fangled stereo thing now, after all. Who wants monaural sound?
Then... my baseball team managed to get in the playoffs. And the games were during the day. And I have a desk job, so I'm at work in the day. So... tablet + speaker with good volume = great way to watch + listen to the ballgame while working.
That worked out so well that now I'm catching up on my backlog of podcasts at lunchtime now. And now I'm wondering if my niece and nephew might find this to be a clever gift for the upcoming St. Nicholas gift exchange / turkey sacrifice event.

@TheDagda you have really cheap McDoubles... I ordered one yesterday... It was 1.65 for a Mc double... I was shocked they went up... I should have just ordered a double cheeseburger... I had been buying Bacon McDouble for $2 when I wanted a doube cheeseburger... but that went up too... Then again I don't go often... maybe 6 times a year if they are lucky... For some reason New England seems to hate the McRib... if that came back... shit... My doctor would have a heart attack from my vitals ;)
I saw no real use for this, until it hit me. Often time I do a craft project, and I want the following: to charge my phone, listen to stuff, and have a light to see what I'm doing better.
Pow. This does all, while still having a tiny footprint.
Plus, if I buy two, I can wire it up for true stereo and have lighting on both sides of what I'm working on.
Sold out... Wow... Can someone comment on how good or not good they are so I can find out if they are ever up again is it worth it to put on my shelf with the other Mediocre Speakerdock/bluetooth...
@sohmageek I bought one of these last time, and one more today. I am pleased with the sound that, considering the size of the driver and the overall unit, provides a reasonably full and balanced sound that does not do violence to music or to voices, either in speech or song, and has no trouble filling a medium-size bedroom. That is to say, to my ear, the sound is reasonably realistic without obvious nasality or tinny-ness, and the volume level is generous. It isn't a stereo system, however.
The BT pairing with my tablets and charging goes smoothly. I have not tried the phone features on it.
The build quality is overall very good and the unit has a solid feel to it, save some play in the light head as you extend it. The light is bright, but has two dimmed settings that help when you want less. I also have found that I by placing the light head in a nearly closed position, I can get a very subdued light level. Overall, definitely worth the $20.
@xerdkwa Did you sacrifice a small mammal and sprinkle the blood while walking counter clockwise around the trunk of an oak tree that was struck by lightening as the user manual suggests?

Speaker-Lamp Friday?
@boc bluetooth speaker friday
Illuminating. Still meh.
Lamper dock Friday!!
Speaker dock light .. What's up dock?
@AttyVette Don't you mean "WATT's up dock?"
BEM sucks as a company, won't stand behind their products. Don't risk it.
@michaelahess Mine works great. Get one!
@medz Got a Rabbit in the garage too?
@michaelahess I don't know what that means. I did find a baby rabbit in the garage at my old house. Poor lil guy must've been in there awhile. He didn't make it.
@medz Ah poor little guy. Just disposed of a poor little mouse, trap didn't snap his neck, he tried to chew through the metal before succumbing. It was an attempt at VW humor. But your response just made me tear up.
@michaelahess Mine works great too! It's not concert hall quality, but a hell of a lot better than the crappy speakers in my laptop.
Light years ahead of buzz.. Meh
⬆ Very punny.
I dunno if it's the lighting in here, but I can't see a practical use for this in my hole under a rock in a cave in a forest.
@FroodyFrog

Minor correction: It's "Soldier Field," not "Soldier's Field."
@bobgreene2001
I'll pass that on to Chris!
Pretty clever combination. Only problem is most times I am at a desk i'm in front of my computer which has a MUCH better speaker setup than this, Meh
You have inspired me.
And now I will not be happy until everything in my home is also a speaker.
Not sure how the dog will take this news ...
(The judges are looking for: "lying down.")
Got one last time it was on meh. When I use the USB port to charge my phone it occasionally glitches out and none of the buttons will work until I disconnect the power plug.
Otherwise makes a nice reading light for the bedside.
@skuppy Weird. No issues with mine. Sounds like a problem with your specific unit.
@skuppy
I was charging my book on my tablet and my buddy wanted to charge his cigarette but I didn't have a free usb. I hate the future.
Where's meh clock?
Buying one to stash away for that inevitable "oh-crap-I-didn't-think-Uncle-Ken-was-coming-to-Christmas-this-year" moment. Cloudy-abrupt-frame.
Hey! What's wrong with Uncle Ken! ;)
@RDW0409 I think we average 5 white elephants per year. But I already bought half a dozen monster screen cleaners, so I'm good.
Kinda want to get in on this, as I like crazy hybrid devices, but I'm guessing the white light is really intense. Warmer yellow lights are more my thing.
@Dash Indeed. The white light is pretty bright and white. You can dim it, but it's still clean white.
@Dash Oh, that's an easy fix. You can get a color filter that is slightly yellow to warm the color temperature. Going from "bright" white to "warm" white is easy, you just can't go the other way (to my knowledge).

@Mandamm Did you ever contact Bem or meh about your issue?
Worth noting that bem is meh backwards, if you took out the bottom of the "b", which someone has, as it's floating over the "e" on the box, except that the "b" hasn't updated yet.
So there's that.
@stinks follow the money
@stinks
My preschooler is learning letters and numbers, and driving me crazy singing "skinny neck, belly fat, Mr Five wears a hat."
Now I'm singing "bottom of the B"
Speaker thingy...is that a technical term?
How about a knife with a bluetooth speaker in it?
@awk, So you can play Singing and Deranged?
@awk I have a lightbulb you can cut someone with
If this only had a Qi charger.
I got one last time. It's nice to have my smartphone lull me to sleep with the sound of ocean waves.

@Freedom1958 That works. Or just memorize that it's the second button from the left.
I wish the product write-ups could be starred, 'cause I would star today's.
@heartny You can star this forum topic.
@cutroil I think that only "likes" the product, but I "like" the write-up. I feel the need for a star on the main page.
@heartny You can star however suits your fancy. If you're really tickled by the write-up, feel free to tag the writer, @jasontoon.
There's bluetooths everywhere.. Someone should seriously visit their dentist.
@unkabob Is that bluetooths or blueteeth?
@densa .. Well from what this guy has (one blue tooth) it's hardly apt to call it 'teeth' as others may only have one blue tooth themselves and speaking on an individual basis tooth sounded more appropriate.. Yes, I know, it's all academic but.. (shrug).. that's my way.

@jcgarza Sorry it didn't work out for you, but I must say that sounds impressively mediocre.
A speaker dock by itself would've made a questionable gift. Combining it with a lamp gives it enough extra utility to make it seem thoughtful. Thanks Meh!
@UnguidedSALT correction...A Dimmable light. Much like the flame that dimmed in my last relationship....but easier to make bright again...
Meh..
This brings back memories of evenings when I used to sit at a desk, studying, etc. I don't know anyone who does that now. So while this is an intriguing idea, I think I'll wait until the light of day to decide.
Also, SDF evolves!
@sligett You're right. People sit at a desk watching YouTube now, and don't study.
@sligett If you wait until the light of day, then you won't need the light of the speaker, and thus will not be as susceptible to the charms of this device.
Musight?
@twolf1 LightBlueSpeakerCharger?
@caffeine_dude I'm going with electromagnetic funk. Oh, wait, already taken

courageous-funky-zebra
I can always use more light when I do my crafts and it would be nice to not use room for a speaker to listen to whatever.
If it works, great.
@lisaviolet

@MehnofLaMehncha That's deep.
I really want to buy this badly, but there's just no use for it and it costs 15 McDoubles.
Got one back in September. Best 20 bucks ever.
Or 15 McDoubles....or 4 Grande quad shot light foam vanilla lattes....
Just sayin...
@TheDagda you have really cheap McDoubles... I ordered one yesterday... It was 1.65 for a Mc double... I was shocked they went up... I should have just ordered a double cheeseburger... @sohmageek yeah...when you live overseas...McDoubles are cheap...and they make good eatin at 3am... 😁

@xerdkwa Did you sacrifice a small mammal and sprinkle the blood while walking counter clockwise around the trunk of an oak tree that was struck by lightening as the user manual suggests?
Purchased as a gift for a freshman for her dorm room. She reports back that it's awesome.
