@rmeden, even @ home one’s gotta keep those hands clean!! Most of the time I Do use regular handsoap, but there Are times I want something stronger- call it parinoia, or whatever, but that’s just me!!
@robson, would you believe Tijana, Mexico? Okay, I can’t even lie that good anymore. The Co has teams in da US & Europe. The US branch is in LA [city of angels], the product is New & the founder is Mr David Orencyr. Allegedly, the company uses great, legal & safe, high quality ingredients, just keep in mind , every business says that, so,…buyer beware, or die!! Would you believe, I didn’t Google it!!
I’ll give some out to my minions, they deserve to be safe in the field.
Edit: my employer can’t seem to keep enough in stock, so I give what I can to those that need it. They go out in the field more than I do; if It takes spendIng some of my own money to do it, so be it.
@ojohn@RedOx, Iceland,…uh…uh…Paris, France,…uh…Rio Bravo, Mexico, wait!! What about Wuhan, China, or Coronavirus, China?? Okay, I thought this was 2 for Tuesday!!
Truth is i have had a cpl large bottles for 4 months and every where i go shopping they offer it for free
.i find myself washing.my hands with disenfecting soap and water almost obsesivly so i relize i don’t really use much of this product and when i do it’s very lil a small squirt…In a side note i have not received my 2 pairs of clogs yet been over a month 2 emails to the Meh team with zero responses i’m trying my best to be understanding but my grandkids are asking for them daily…any explanation would be appreciated.
@mellowirishgent I have one big bottle, and a couple of small bottles and they lasted me the whole pandemic. I’ve even filled my bottle at work from the big bottle. There’s still probably half left. I don’t need to hoard hand sanitizer. But at least Meh is selling something people need, 4 months later.
I don’t need or want hand sanitizers. But it would be nice to know the manufacturer.
Bellepierre vs Bellapierre are unclear and mixed over the entire product description and spec. and where they were made matters considering 50 FDA warnings for sanitizers from mexico.
Idk who to @? @chadp? Some clarification could probably help sales
@tinamarie1974 yes it does I zoomed in on that. But meh mixes it up several places and idk if you’ve ever shopped on Amazon but they mix in counterfeits sometimes. And those people slap fake labels on things.
Or the local swap meet with knock offs
I generally trust meh. But that should have thrown up a red flag somewhere. Probably just a typo.
@tinamarie1974@unksol Much of the stuff from Amazon now is counterfeit and returned items, and they got even worse after the pandemic started. Meh is better, but still not trusted for healthcare products.
I mix my own sanitizer using verified alcohol concentrations so if I die it’s not because Amazon fked me to make a few more bucks.
@stinks@tinamarie1974@uwacn lol I’m not really doubting them but I could see how obvious errors in the brand name in multiple places on this type of product that made it through to sale would not inspire confidence.
And people are really touchy these days. And it’s not an uncommon thing to have counterfeits use one letter off
@stinks@unksol@uwacn well this is very interesting! How often is Amazon selling counterfeits?
The only issue I have personally seen was when I purchased hand sanitizer a couple of months ago. Shipped from China, arrived in the US and then updates went silent. Logged into my account to check and it showed delivered to Napa, CA - I live in MO. Oddly enough Amazon never sent me a delivery confirmation like they do on every shipment.
Anyway a phone call and several arguments later I received my refund. All very fishy!!
@stinks@tinamarie1974@uwacn I’ve never had an issue and there are certain levels of stupidity from reviewers. But Amazon stocks their Warehouse from who knows where. And they group their products and reviews. So sometimes the reviews aren’t even for the specific model you want. Knock offs get in sometimes. Especially if you don’t double check when it’s a third party sale.
@k9mckaig “I’m not buying a f***ing mask” “I’ve made it this far by not buying into that damn hype” Richard Rose III, 1983-2020 Army veteran, Trump supporter, natural selection example, and apparent crisis actor.
@k9mckaig@zaphod9977 It’s only natural selection if he didn’t get to procreate. As I’m sure he probably did, I hope his kids realize what a moron their dad was. I wonder if he knew the Governor of Oklahoma who is “shocked” he got Covid after doing nothing to prevent getting it.
@k9mckaig, Sir(?), you should check out the situation Mr Chuck Woolery, and his son found them-selves in!! He was humble enough to eat crow though, unlike all the crazytown Floridians in that damn county who refused to wear fuckn masks!! In case you’re so full of yourself, or too stubborn 2 google the factual news about Chuck & his Son, here is the gist of the last 48 hours. Mr Woolery [name may be misspelled] did a fn complete 180° after his son tested positive for COVID-19!! He admitted that he was wrong about Everything, including that the Pandemic was just a liberal Democratic Hoax!! So, Sir, I’m Not gonna call another Veteran insulting names the way many tRump minions do to me & other vets because we don’t fukn agree with’um on other sites, but on the Chuck story I Will say this, Read It & Weep, Sir!! FYI, JSYK!!
@k9mckaig, as far as the Veteran statement, I was commenting in reference to your tRumpeteer bud who ranted that he wasn’t wearin a mask, etc, etc!! BTW, Mr Never- Masker jotted down his birth, AND death yr of 2020,…not too smart!
@HotDogFatality In April, I was faced with no hand sanitizer or some weird off-brand hand sanitizer from a nationwide chain drugstore, so I bought the two permitted 4-oz bottles.
“That off-putting smell—sometimes described as rotten garbage or tequila-like—is the natural byproduct of ethanol being made from corn, sugar cane, beets, and other organic sources,” explained Zlotnik. “[Ethyl alcohol] production is highly regulated. It stinks because these new brands—many made by distillers who’ve pivoted from producing drinking alcohol to meet public demand for hand sanitizer—are making and using denatured ethanol. This ethanol costs significantly less than ethanol filtered using activated carbon filtration, which would typically remove almost all contaminants and the malodor with it.”
Unfortunately, my knowing that doesn’t make the off-brand smell any better, so I try to use it as little as possible (and wash my hands with soap instead).
Now that hand sanitizer dispensers are prolific across America and free to use, Meh decides to sell it in bulk. You don’t disappoint to disappoint us all.
@hchavers I am not seeing this, but I am out in rural Indiana. With my better half having to go back to Purdue to teach in person this fall, we are bulking up on our own supplies.
@Nitewatch west Lafayette campus? If they go full in person that’s going to be… I mean it’s only 40K students rubbing up against each other mixing with another 80-90K across the river. Then going home. what could go wrong?
Kroger has had those wetwipe things for cart handles for a couple years during flu seasoni thought in general although I can’t say I’ve looked for them/ever used them.
@hchavers, JSYAK, I heard not long ago that we should all in the US start stocking up on those fn neccessities we had to buy in the 1st wave! For What??..the 2nd & maybe 3rd wave!! There’s also a fn pneumonia antibiotic- resistant pandemic that’s on the way that’s worse than this COVID-19 virus is, so put on y’alls hard-hats, safety goggles, and face masks because this next ride will freakin be Live & Televised!!
Is this stuff still being sold? If so with or without the gel? Its the key ingredient next to alcohol if your asking. Obviously, at this time most people are being safe and hand washing with bottled water if tap water isn’t readily available. Anyway, easy pass for me. Although, lots are being sold I hope it arrives by October. In the mean time keep spreading your germs. In such instances as this is a necessity this should be drop shipped for 2-3 day Priority delivery…wishing for those who are struggling without any.
@tweezak Apparently sanitizer is to costly for meh to give it away. Also, its not trick n treat anymore. That’s a thing in the past its actually Trick n Trunk now days especially with the COVID-19. People should get new washable mask beforehand and children will either get disposable gloves or mask.
Man, people are way overthinking this. It’s tiny bottles of sanitizer. I stick them in my glove compartments and in random to-go bags and then months later when I’m out for a bike trip and realize I need to de-grime I can be pleasantly surprised at my drunken meh foresight.
@KingThursday you really confuse me. I don’t have a use case for this anyway but why would you use alcohol when you are going home? Def not a thing for a go bag and a go bag is not cause you can’t ride a bike.
@KingThursday@OnionSoup well its probably not spread much by touching surfaces and you know. Glove box. Bike. No one else is in my vehicle. I’m not touching anything or being coughed on. I have self control not to touch myself in public But I take your point if using public transportation. Not even an option here. I don’t like the public. They are icky
@KingThursday@OnionSoup@unksol, this physician advisor on ABC, Dr Jeniffer whoever, gave reasons why gloves are a waste of time as follows: you go to the store & handle cans, pkgs, door handles, counters, carts, etc, etc. All the while you’re adjusting your mask, glasses, or sunglasses, hat, watch, using your cell phone, and touching your purse, wallet, debit/ credit card, money, kids & keys!! This also applies when your not wearing gloves!! Plus, if you’re a Mom, you just may have to slap the Daddy, or other Mom!! So,…
@ElieC@sjk3 oh ffs. We’ve stopped hearing about it cause other places are having more cases now and flying past their daily totals is not a competition. We can agree both are shit
Price seems not bad. Costco is selling a 32 oz bottle for just under $10. if you find it in stock, works out about the same per oz.
Stores do have sanitizer in stock now, but not for this cheap.
I might buy, but I’ve already got the costco bottle to refill the one in my car, they would probably dry out before I got to using them.
@jester747 this is true . Especially with antibiotics. And anti bacterial soap etc are over used. Killing off everything can leave the one possible resistant mutated guy to thrive/spread. But considering how effective it already is at spreading and we are talking about a virus and alcohol I wouldnt worry about that particular issue in this particular case. You’re basically drying out the viruses on the skins surface cause you think you touched something sketchy and killing them not destroying your entire skins biome.
I went to the manufacturer’s website and it states they’re only 68% alcohol. You need 70% or better for gel to be effective. This is a hard pass for me.
@ohwolfman
“If soap and water are not readily available, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends consumers use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60 percent alcohol (also referred to as ethanol or ethyl alcohol).”. I don’t see any distinction for gel?
@andymand@OnionSoup while, like most hand sanitizers, it smells like alcohol when you first apply, it actually has a light fragrance, I would describe it personally as slightly baby powder/soap. It doesn’t smell like some of the tequila garbage ones I’ve tried
I keep a small bottle in my bag when I go to sporting events, flying, etc. I also keep some in my car when it’s not 100000 degrees outside in case I need it after going to the store, gas station, etc. I still wash my hands after getting somewhere that has soap and water available, but this is better than nothing at all.

As for methanol, DON’T DRINK HAND SANITIZER! Rum tastes better anyway.
From the FDA:
The agency is aware of adults and children ingesting hand sanitizer products contaminated with methanol that has led to recent adverse events including blindness, hospitalizations and death.
Meh, hand sanitizer is now common place - home depot has 64oz bottles for $13 and Aldis has 8oz germx bottles for less than $2. Dollar Tree has 8oz bottles too, but they sell out quickly.
@sdwomack23 The math doesn’t add up. Woot has 128 oz with 80% alcohol for $29.99 (free shipping for Prime). Meh has 124.8 oz with 72% alcohol for $35 (free shipping with VMP).
Interesting read on ingredients - https://clearandwell.com/safe-hand-sanitizer-brands-to-avoid/
I don’t necessarily agree with their choices on avoid/recommend brands or which ingredients are worse than others, but it’s a worthwhile read. (Also a lot of the recommended sanitizers aren’t available.)
Looks like this is very similar to the CVS brand.
I think the lesson for all of these is that hand washing is best.
Meh is gonna kill us off… Worse than COVID. Isodecyl alcohol has little sanitizing efficacy. This likely is chemical waste sourced. Warning! According to the classification provided by companies to ECHA in CLP notifications this substance is toxic to aquatic life with long lasting effects, is very toxic to aquatic life, causes serious eye irritation, may cause damage to organs through prolonged or repeated exposure and causes skin irritation. https://echa.europa.eu/substance-information/-/substanceinfo/100.042.594
You can make your own, with at least 70% alcohol, some aloe gel and a few drops of essential oils, your choice of scent. Put in a sealed spray bottle. There are many recipes online. As a Nurse, (RN), I say the only good thing about this Virus is that it has taught the importance of HANDWASHING!!! Hand sanitizer is to be used when you can’t get to a sink, and Not after using the restroom, etc. It can dry our skin and make it crack. As was mentioned before Antibacterial soap overuse causes us to kill off our Flora and Fauna, which protects us. Any soap and friction, warm water, and the appropriate time washing and gentle hand drying is the key. Stay safe People. The price of sanitizer is crazy. A FB post said, “I won’t touch raw chicken, but give me a pair of gloves and my hands will go places to make a porn star blush.” So, along with my mask, I wear Gloves…:)
@00@sammydog01 at first I thought it smelled like baby powder. Then I thought it smelled like those little decorative soaps that fancy people have in their bathrooms. Either way it didn’t smell like flaming tequila garbage dumpster like some others, so I thought that was a win.
Smells good (vaguely lemon-y) and unlike other off-brand sanitizer this one does not leave a sticky residue on your hands. Very happy to have stocked up on the 10oz bottles.

I do recognize propanol as Isopropyl alcohol, the rest, not even a guess.
Where do you see isodecyl?
@EthelTheFrog @robson doh - good catch, edited my other post for correctness
@rjquillin @robson
Looks like an extra comma snuck into “aminomethyl propanol”, which is a pH neutralizer (AMP).
@EthelTheFrog @RedOx @robson Thank you for this! It is very helpful!

@Fuzzalini That is because meh had to wait until there was an oversupply to buy and sell it. I am sure toilet paper will be coming soon.
@mellowirishgent @RiotDemon, Darryll couldda intercepted them if they’re size 13-16!!
So ten ounces is now considered a “big” bottle? This is so crazy! Liquid gold!

But what does it smell like? The 12 pack reeked of gin, and thanks to the sins of my youth, that smell makes me physically ill.

@HotDogFatality In April, I was faced with no hand sanitizer or some weird off-brand hand sanitizer from a nationwide chain drugstore, so I bought the two permitted 4-oz bottles.
It smelled like, well, not like the lightly-fresh smelling Purell I was used to. I recently wondered why and found out: https://www.nytimes.com/wirecutter/blog/why-hand-sanitizers-smell
The essence (LOL) is captured here:

@KingThursday @OnionSoup @unksol, this physician advisor on ABC, Dr Jeniffer whoever, gave reasons why gloves are a waste of time as follows: you go to the store & handle cans, pkgs, door handles, counters, carts, etc, etc. So,…
Ummm…Florida ya’ll need to step it up on this purchase.
@ElieC I mean Florida is a pretty easy choke point. I think they are past hand sanitizer. If we could have bottlenecked new york.
@ElieC It’s not curious at all that we have stopped hearing about NY, NJ, MI, & CA, where the mortality rate is sky high.
@ElieC Check the news. Florida’s case numbers were greatly inflated, like 10X.
@ElieC @sjk3 oh ffs.
Kills 99.99% of bacteria… but what % of viruses???
My youngest told me the other day: “But that bug in the 0.01% is the one we really have to worry about!”
If quality is the issue then ask the real question——
Bluetooth???
I went to the manufacturer’s website and it states they’re only 68% alcohol. You need 70% or better for gel to be effective. This is a hard pass for me.
@ohwolfman
@ohwolfman @Xexer
The gel is for sticking to your skin instead of just running off before it can do its job.
@ohwolfman in the picture it says 72%
@ohwolfman the first batch they had was 68%. This batch that we bought is 72%
@ohwolfman Not sure where you got the 70% figure from but it’s 60%. This product exceeds that minimum in either case.
@bmf …or else it gets the virus again.
What I want to know, is:
Does this smell.like it was pumped out of the pump at a Exxon station into.little bottles?
That’s what most of them smell like these days.
@OnionSoup Missed your comment – I reflected on the same recently and found out why:
(from https://www.nytimes.com/wirecutter/blog/why-hand-sanitizers-smell/)
@andymand @OnionSoup while, like most hand sanitizers, it smells like alcohol when you first apply, it actually has a light fragrance, I would describe it personally as slightly baby powder/soap. It doesn’t smell like some of the tequila garbage ones I’ve tried
@andymand @mandirose @OnionSoup
You make that sound like a bad thing.

/giphy pathetic-bigger-jackrabbit
I’d buy it if you were selling like 6-10oz bottles with 12-3oz bottles, everybody needs a little of both but not a lot of one
This is made in China. Might be fake or has less alcohol content than advertised.

Comparable value to Sam’s Club’s big refill, plus these have pumps!

So, where is the 72% Alcohol in the ingredients?
@meah Ingredients: water, glycerin, acrylates/vinyl isodecanoate crosspolymer, aminomethly, propanol, fragrance, panthenol, aloe barbadensis leaf juice, tocopheryl acetate
@meah The Rest of the Story:
Active Ingredient/Active Moiety

HEY MEH!! Fix This! It should say
"Inactive Ingredients: water, glycerin, acrylates/vinyl isodecanoate crosspolymer, aminomethly, propanol, fragrance, panthenol, aloe barbadensis leaf juice, tocopheryl acetate
Because the ACTIVE Ingredient - alcohol - is listed separately and at 72% is obviously the first ingredient.
Alternatively you could just leave “Ingredients:” and change the list to read:
"Ingredients: alcohol, water, glycerin, acrylates/vinyl isodecanoate crosspolymer, aminomethly, propanol, fragrance, panthenol, aloe barbadensis leaf juice, tocopheryl acetate
Your choice.
I’m Jonesin’ for a big old frosty glass of “aloe barbadensis leaf juice” right about now.
As for methanol, DON’T DRINK HAND SANITIZER! Rum tastes better anyway.
From the FDA:
Note the word ingest.
Meh, hand sanitizer is now common place - home depot has 64oz bottles for $13 and Aldis has 8oz germx bottles for less than $2. Dollar Tree has 8oz bottles too, but they sell out quickly.
Keeping one in your glove compartment does’t seem like a good idea.
Is this brand injectable? I hate point out the obvious, but Woot is currently selling more for less.
https://home.woot.com/offers/80-alcohol-hand-sanitizer-64oz-2-pack?ref=w_cnt_gw_zlm_bs_3
@gallogj At $30 plus shipping for 128oz, that is about 27 cents per ounce. That is what the bigger bottles MEH is selling costs.
@sdwomack23 The math doesn’t add up. Woot has 128 oz with 80% alcohol for $29.99 (free shipping for Prime). Meh has 124.8 oz with 72% alcohol for $35 (free shipping with VMP).
Interesting read on ingredients -
https://clearandwell.com/safe-hand-sanitizer-brands-to-avoid/

Is no one sane here?
@xian Honey, what little sanity humanity had before…covid 19 hit and we’ve all lost our minds!
Upon until COVID-19 became a thing, Dollar Tree stores had 8 oz. hand sanitizer for… a dollar.
@tarpaper how i miss the good old days before the pandemic
@pixelated Ah, don’t we all…
This hand sanitizer is the same price at Bellapier. I don’t know how Meh came up with this $192 - $300 price.
@44 Well, you take $8 x 24, and you get $192. And then you take $25 x 12, and you get $300. Magic!
What does it taste like? My teenagers want to know if they can drink it on the rocks, or is it going to need some Sprite & OJ / Cranberry?
@Commonwealth109
Finally got to buy something really useful again on Meh
Have NYS Clean hand sanitizer, smells so fresh. !!! And 2 gallons from local distillery. Think I’m good for upcoming wave…
I bought it. I an clean.
No comments about the lubed up baby arm in the last pic?
I got mine and it smells like an old lady’s perfume.
@00 in a good way?
@00 Shhhhh. I’ve still got 20 bottles to give away…
It smells like lavender or something @sammydog01.
I’m secure enough in my manhood to use it.
@sammydog01 if you like the way old ladies smell, then yes, definitely in a good way.
@00 @sammydog01 at first I thought it smelled like baby powder. Then I thought it smelled like those little decorative soaps that fancy people have in their bathrooms. Either way it didn’t smell like flaming tequila garbage dumpster like some others, so I thought that was a win.
Not bad well packed always love the box in a box package. Smells good.
Smells good (vaguely lemon-y) and unlike other off-brand sanitizer this one does not leave a sticky residue on your hands. Very happy to have stocked up on the 10oz bottles.
Oof. The smell is strong and lingers for upwards of an hour.
@fieldsnyc yeah I hate the smell
This stuff smells like my grandmother’s purse and gave me an epic headache…looks like I’ll be donating it all. Why wasn’t the fragrance noted?
This stuff smells like old lady…I’m so sorry I bought 24 bottles of this crap…what a mistake !!!
