@yakkoTDI especially when you try to edit your edit and it won't edit so you have to write a lot of things which don't make sense -- aww the travesty of it all :( and yes that did happen so I had to shut my cellphone off and then restart it so I can edit my edits now instead if having to leave what was typed
@conandlibrarian It was $10 when I bought it last time. I got it to use outside. It is pretty limited in functionality (basically just on/off and volume controls), but all in all it is a pretty good speaker.
@kathyl yours had volume controls? Mine had skip forward and back, pause play, and light as the functions of the buttons, though the rubber said volume
@thomasaelliott Many BT speakers combine the volume and track skipping buttons now. Must be a common circuit board that they use for the controls. If you just tap the button, it goes to the next track, if you hold it, it changes the volume.
So, I have a day to decide on what to do about my VMP. So, I'm going to base keeping in on this item. On the other hand, the VMP is about a dollar a week, and about 20 cents a day to post. 20 cents a day to run over here at 11:59 and see what's up. At 20 cents a day, that's pretty much peanuts, or at least I think you could buy a few peanuts for 20 cents. Ah, decisions, decisions.
Haven't "heard" any complaints regarding these banana boat speakers from people that received them along with other gifts -- this speaks "Volumes" don't u think??
@bigj8705 yes that's why last time meh marked waterproof off the box -- haven't tried mine in the water or around it but gave some as stocking stuffer gifts and I haven't heard yet any complains
@dunda your telling me. I used on in the morning it stayed on the wall all day up until 2am when it fell and made a loud noise that woke me from my sleep.
It also scared me as I was like WTF was that. I live alone and had to do the double check on the locks, then go to take a leak and see it in the botton of the tub.
Got this last time around, I sharpied through the "water proof" and "floating" on the box and gave it away at xmas... they said they liked it but as summer hasn't rolled around I am not sure they have used it to give any "long term usage" feedback.
It sounds better than those suction cup speakers, sounds considerably better than the "Damn, Son!" ones... but it ain't no JBL Mini.
If you don't shower it will probably stick to you. It's round for c sake! Why would anyone want a round speaker that isn't water proof? It will roll around the shower. If your not sure about this one, don't worry it will be coming back many times until they get rid of all 38 of these.
The only Bluetooth speaker I've found for a decent price that sounds good enough for audio books to easily hear over the fan and shower noise in the bathroom. I've tried many. exponential-baffling-plantation - because I don't want to ever have to do without it.
@4mehem Every so often, I google search people's confirmation phrases and post the related images here, but all the plantation-related images made me too sad to do it with yours.
@Kerig3 I think moose said they left it overnight in a tub of jello, probably not the intended use. I don't think I would try floating it in pool like the box says though.
I bought a couple of these the last time they were on sale and absolutely love them. My students like these so much that I'm ordering three more to sell to them so that they don't steal mine.
I've been using it as a bathtub toy for the kids since Christmas. Caught a child trying to drown it by sitting and banging. It started making a bunch of static noise and would not power off. Had to let it die in the basement so we could get some peace and quiet. After recharging, it seems to be better. Every now and then will make static. Buying another for when it goes dead.
@SHOVAR Yeah, phones can only connect to one Bluetooth speaker at a time. If you want to connect your phone to two speakers, then I think you'd need some sort of bluetooth splitter
OK, so the volume button apparently skips tracks. Can you actually control the volume with this thing? @Moose? It is really loud at the lowest volume on my Ipad.
@Moose OK, holding it down changes the volume and clicking it changes the track. The yellow band had slipped- when I realigned it I could get it to work. Thanks.

@AttyVette Me?
@AttyVette Editing should disappear.
A glimpse of the past.
@AttyVette Huh?
@yakkoTDI especially when you try to edit your edit and it won't edit so you have to write a lot of things which don't make sense -- aww the travesty of it all :( and yes that did happen so I had to shut my cellphone off and then restart it so I can edit my edits now instead if having to leave what was typed
@yakkoTDI btw way I love the past as it happens here on meh frequently
@AttyVette "K"
@AttyVette i watched the bathurst 12 today. When i told my son it was 6 am tommorow in austraillia his mind was blown.
What was this going for last time? I kinda want it.
@conandlibrarian It was going for change shaken out of your couch. Today it is $10.
@conandlibrarian It was $10 when I bought it last time. I got it to use outside. It is pretty limited in functionality (basically just on/off and volume controls), but all in all it is a pretty good speaker.
@yakkoTDI yes they were $10 previously - I bought several as stocking stuffers and I didn't hear any complaints about them ..
@AttyVette you must have some huge stockings
@kathyl yours had volume controls? Mine had skip forward and back, pause play, and light as the functions of the buttons, though the rubber said volume
@thomasaelliott Many BT speakers combine the volume and track skipping buttons now. Must be a common circuit board that they use for the controls. If you just tap the button, it goes to the next track, if you hold it, it changes the volume.
@OutbackJon makes sense, ill give it a shot next time I use mine, thanks.
What an amazing bargain! buy! buy! buy! buy!

@wew I say that's just nuts -- peanuts that is :)--keep "shelling" out the money :)
"If you don't buy this we're going to tell everybody that you never shower"
Ya got me!
Stop confusing me. It's not Friday.
@heartny *dock not included.
@thismyusername Close enough for government work :-)
Banana Boat Death Star
I swear for a moment the price was $0.
@Stumpy91 I still wouldn't buy it.
"Your order number is: arrogant-crafty-yak".
Well, yeah. Of course it is.
@mr_crash_davis
I wish this had bluetooth control buttons, then it would be a definite shower-buy.
@pzy it does
Bought 1 last time.
Sounds better and plays louder than I expected.
Plus pop off the speaker grill and paint it black...
Deathstar!
This is what is sold on my mother's birthday? Now I have to buy something else that "had a delay in shipping". Not even a water-resistant excuse!
@KDemo we all float down here.
@KDemo i just wet myself from repressed terror
Spaaaaaaaaaaaaaace
Haven't "heard" any complaints regarding these banana boat speakers from people that received them along with other gifts -- this speaks "Volumes" don't u think??
@AttyVette read the amazon reviews. Looks like it isn't waterproof much at all.
I already have a couple of the Bluetooth speakers. I got the stick up ones a while back which are great for the shower.
@bigj8705 yes that's why last time meh marked waterproof off the box -- haven't tried mine in the water or around it but gave some as stocking stuffer gifts and I haven't heard yet any complains
@bigj8705 I got one of those from China and it wouldn't stay stuck on the wall.
Can I still buy it even if I don't shower?
@thekenya yes. Bath.
@RedOak Unfortunately the legendary keyword bathtub won't get us any free mediocre products. Hence why I stopped showering.
@thekenya Bath!
@thekenya yes, unfortunately it is long past the @JonT free stuff era. 'Bath' has deteriorated into a mediocre joke.
@RedOak What happens if the GOTD says 'baaaath'? Would that work?
If this had been a giant banana-shaped floating speaker, I would've bought 10. 🍌
They listed this for $100 before? Meh🙄
@mykel when?
@thekenya Banana Boat not meh...
@thekenya Yh I meant it says "$100 list, $27 Amazon" You gotta be on some vodka to list this crap $100
One of those days that "Meh" just doesn't quite sum it up.
GET TO DA SHOWAH!!!!
Oops wrong post, uhhh... SDF amiright?
Got this last time around, I sharpied through the "water proof" and "floating" on the box and gave it away at xmas... they said they liked it but as summer hasn't rolled around I am not sure they have used it to give any "long term usage" feedback.
It sounds better than those suction cup speakers, sounds considerably better than the "Damn, Son!" ones... but it ain't no JBL Mini.
@thismyusername thanks for what has to be one of the most helpful sound quality reviews. I feel like I know exactly what these sound like!
@RedOak the meh JBL Gold standard is gonna be hard to beat :)
If you don't shower it will probably stick to you. It's round for c sake! Why would anyone want a round speaker that isn't water proof? It will roll around the shower. If your not sure about this one, don't worry it will be coming back many times until they get rid of all 38 of these.
Does anyone know if it will pair with a 4th gen Apple TV?
Is that a banana speaker in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?
Next week they'll sell the version that isn't Bluetooth and tell you why that is a better product.
A ball on super bowl Sunday that can't be deflated.
@jml326 patriots fan i see
@nostrom0 maybe now... I'm a free agent. My team left me for LA.
For those who bought previously- is it spherical or is there a flattened bottom segment?
That makes a huge difference to me, in my decision to mether to meh it or purchase one for the shower room [AKA no bathtub bathroom]
@PhysAssist Flattened.
@narfcake Tanks! Bought one on your say so
otherwise known as puffy-pastel-steak
The sound is so-so, but this is why you should buy it. (in case you didn't click the link in the description)
Buy it if you have kids, or even if you don't. Don't leave it in a bowl of jello though.
@sammydog01 The jello test really shows how this speaker is far from waterproof. 😒
@Kerig3 I think moose said they left it overnight in a tub of jello, probably not the intended use. I don't think I would try floating it in pool like the box says though.
For Christmas I got a floating cooler that I will never use, this is honestly pretty tempting, I could have a whole boating setup I will never use.
I bought a couple of these the last time they were on sale and absolutely love them. My students like these so much that I'm ordering three more to sell to them so that they don't steal mine.
I might actually have a use for this--- seriously. Does anyone know if it can be heard over the jets and motor noise in a hot tub?
I've been looking for a water-resistant bluetooth speaker as mine is not great.
Unfortunately, the spherical shape of this thing is... not ideal.
Meh.
I can wait the five minutes it takes to properly shower. IMHO a sucker gadget... Not a sucker today.
There once was a ball oh-so round,
that bleated out so-so sound.
For tub or for pool, it was like stool
that nobody wanted around.
I bought two, and they pair fine with my iPhone. However only one will play music at a time. If I unpair that one the other kicks in.
I kinda wanted to be able to use them both simultaneously. Am I doing something wrong?
@SHOVAR Yeah, phones can only connect to one Bluetooth speaker at a time. If you want to connect your phone to two speakers, then I think you'd need some sort of bluetooth splitter
@Moose Thanks!
OK, so the volume button apparently skips tracks. Can you actually control the volume with this thing? @Moose? It is really loud at the lowest volume on my Ipad.
@sammydog01 Try holding the volume button down to change volume
@Moose OK, holding it down changes the volume and clicking it changes the track. The yellow band had slipped- when I realigned it I could get it to work. Thanks.
