@rileyper Meh interns have nothing better to do. If I buy one of these and the Waterproof isn't shadily crossed out with an off-brand Sharpie marker, there will be hell to pay.
The Death Star it's not ...but on the other hand, if it isn't waterproof and its floating in the swimming pool you are swimming in..it might become YOUR Death Star when you get electrocuted if it shorts out.
@sjk3 You should be more worried about the explosive hazard of a lithium battery in water than about the electrocution hazard of 3.3v in a swimming pool.
@jaremelz Okay, so that is either the greatest invention in human history (bananas that turn into hot girls in bikinis) or its the invasion of the pod people.
Honestly, I'm torn. I would love to buy one of those bananas (hey, hot girl in a bikini, how can you go wrong?), but the possibility of an invasion by pod people actually sounds kind of cool from a nerdy point of a view.
Day-o, day-o Daylight come and me wan' go home Day, me say day, me say day, me say day Me say day, me say day-o Daylight come and me wan' go home Work all night on a drink of rum Daylight come and me wan' go home Stack banana till de morning come Daylight come and me wan' go home Come, Mister tally man, tally me banana Daylight come and me wan' go home Come, Mister tally man, tally me banana Daylight come and me wan' go home

@RedOak haha, my favorite part isn't just that they published dummy text, it's that they went to the "Lipsum Generator" website, but instead of actually using it to generate lorem ipsum, they just copied the blurb at the top explaining how to use the site.
When I was a kayak guide, always one or two paddlers would end up looking like lobsters, and no one went out without sunscreen, but they used Banana Boat. Not sure how they can get away with selling something so important, that clearly does not work.
Too fun, the ultimate "Meh". Not waterproof, and I bought 2. I am "Meh" too. Now, if I could only get another T-Shirt. #ShamelessDesireForClothingThatNobodyKnowsMuchAboutButLooksCool
My hesitation is about battery life; five hours seems way low. But I think something like this could be fun for my great neice who, at 2 1/2, has taken to singing in the bathtub.
@thismyusername These are relatively inexpensive batteries. (I vape with them) So if they can be replaced you could always swap it out with one of a higher mAh capacity. Shouldn't cost more than $7 a cell. 👍
Think its to funny that they spin upside down in a pool so the speaker is underwater correct dimensions according to Walmart who is supposed to be the exclusive seller is LxWxH is 8x8.1x8.3 retail is 40 bucks at Walmart. think ill just buy one as a stocking stuffer xmas is approaching at mega speed
@Nyc_Tattoo You realize you just typed "in real life", about a work of fiction, right? I mean, cool if it was originally written to be black, that's an interesting factoid, but dude . . .
@Donborvio I am sure that the meeting that unveiled this product at Banana Boat consisted of the CEO standing up and saying "Brilliant Dexter!, just brilliant!"
@jsh139 What about this sentence? " Because this was marketed as a product that nobody want (a floating speaker), nobody bought it at full price." ... should be "nobody wanted"
Does anyone know if it actually sounds good? Think this would be good for the beach/boat/pool (by, not in)... reducing the possibility of a phone getting ruined (again). I bought the Stickup speakers in September and they sound much better than anticipated-actually sounded better than a $70 Phillips Bluetooth speaker we purchased this past summer.
@wildmomo I thought it sounded really good; definitely a loud speaker for the price. I'm not an audiophile or anything though so I might be a bad judge.

On Summer 2013 is approaching: to cope with the great heat an object particularly useful is definitely. Banana Boat Pool Sound System is portable air conditioner, you can place in any area within your home and easily transportable. Here you will also find all review and features. It goes on from there.....
mom says it's cute! also I still don't know why you sent it for free (maybe banana slicer was the closest guess?) but if it makes mom happy then we all done good
@thismyusername i cant tell what the dock does, can you? definitely looks like the same item, and it only costs $23 and has a dock, this doesnt feel like much of a great deal anymore
@brhfl I think your right the description is "Docking station auto-pairs with devices via the universal connector; Docking station auto-pairs with the receiver" BT or some proprietary, looks like this ones flaw was 1. failures (leaks?) and 2. poor reception.
@thomasaelliott I dunno $10 is pretty cheap, I got it just to put some non-Newtonian fluids on it.
@giantmoustache Is it that the Echo sounds that bad... or do you really like the sound.. it's not bad... but I would be a bit upset if I paid > $150 and it sounds like this... Not that it sounds bad, but $150 should buy better sound than this.
Also I love how the volume button(s) is(are) working as a next, previous while paired to my iPhone instead of volume... It made me chuckle... (it's 2 buttons but under 1 rubber button... so... I don't know if I call it one like the instructions or 2... it's more of a rocker switch, with buttons underneath...)
@sohmageek the echo isn't horrible, but not great either especially in the bass department. Luckily I got in early and only paid $99 for it. It's a cool gadget but is light years away from Siri / ok Google. I may have over promoted the banana boat just a bit after living with it for a few days. Still great for $10.
I got mine from Meh, Thanks again! It sounds pretty good… I’m a bit surprised in how well it sounds… Almsot as good as a JBL mini? I had issues pairing… .and thought… Well I wasn’t expecting it, and I didn’t pay for it… but I restarted the phone and it worked. Not sure why it didn’t show up without restarting the phone but I’m glad it’s working.
Yes I brought this post back from the dead.
Still using mine. Wondered if anybody knew if there was a firmware update that would include a “battery % left” indication to list under your Bluetooth connection on your phone… I noticed my newer devices indicate that. This one unfortunately does not
That being said, I still use this thing semi regularly. Used it this week around the pool while the granddaughter and daughter were visiting, and had it out in the garden a little while ago - which was great since it started raining so I didn’t need to worry about it.
@tinamarie1974

banana boat ...very "Appealing"
Is today Friday somewhere?
@YKnot there is no dock... needs a dock to be Friday.
@thismyusername or bugs bunny..say what's up dock???
@thismyusername
But they need to pivot when they finally sell that last Mini.
Or was it a Micro?
Nano?
Skimpy?
Buehler?
@YKnot the MINIs will never die, they have a replicator.
This thing is awesome in its meh-ness. A floating non waterproof speaker. Sweet!
@bdp maybe not sweet but will make a splash at parties don't you think??
I'm going to spray paint mine.
@philip Deathstar?!?!?
@bajoriap this is exactly my plan. I was meh until the last photo with the speaker exposed
@dylanjstewart Darn it. I missed that picture the first time i looked. Just ordered one.
If I order this, will the waterproof really be blacked out with sharpie like in the images... I hope so.
@rileyper Meh interns have nothing better to do. If I buy one of these and the Waterproof isn't shadily crossed out with an off-brand Sharpie marker, there will be hell to pay.
HELL.
TO.
PAY.
@Konraden Shoupie to the rescue!!
@yakkoTDI Not for letter writing or cloth... or correcting false markings on bluetooth speakers
@yakkoTDI Best birthday gift ever? The Sharpie binder. Holds 24 of the best markers ever invented.
@Konraden we have interns?
Death Star diorama
I want to meet the guy who paid $100 for one of these
Buy two. Glue 'em together vertically. Tell the kids it's that droid from the new Star Wars. BEST CHRISTMAS EVER!
The Death Star it's not ...but on the other hand, if it isn't waterproof and its floating in the swimming pool you are swimming in..it might become YOUR Death Star when you get electrocuted if it shorts out.
@AttyVette What is it with Meh lately with all the electrical hazardous products lately ?
@sjk3 You should be more worried about the explosive hazard of a lithium battery in water than about the electrocution hazard of 3.3v in a swimming pool.
Damn, we already used all our good banana material in the other thread. What a bitch
@jaremelz Now you know why they thought it was so funny...
@Thumperchick We played perfectly into their hands.
@jaremelz
@Pavlov I really get a rise out of these bananas.
@jaremelz
Wtf... maybe I'm psychic.
@jml326 There was more then one of us thinking that when midnight hit.
@jaremelz *than. All these bananas have turned my brain to mush.
@jaremelz I didn't see this.
BATH!
There are like a thousand $20 waterproof speakers out there. How did they manage to make theirs $100 whilst losing the waterproofness?
Guess I need to buy one to find out.
@MehnofLaMehncha I'm failing so hard at not buying one of these.
I blame @hollboll for all this banana mischief.
https://meh.com/forum/topics/please-sell-these#5642b9565fedecbc0abab3d5
@mfladd We really squeezed the life out of this banana thing.
@jaremelz
@mfladd Cute puss.
@jaremelz @hollboll
@mfladd @jaremelz, moving right along...

Me say day, me say day-o
Daylight come and me wan' go home.
@wew crafting that perfect reply, then looking up and seeing great minds think alike.
If it fits in a baggy it could be water proof.
Wow, even $10 seems like a stretch, $100?????!!!!!!
So your pile of Spheros decided to get frisky with your pile of speaker docks, eh?
Da Fuck?
Can someone explain the math to me? They're $10 each. They've sold 61 so far, so isn't that $610 total? So why does it say $617??
Am I dumb? (Don't answer that, answer the first 2 questions pls)
@jayplus707 tax, some pay shipping, etc
@thismyusername Yeah, I'm one of the unlucky bitches that lives in Texas and has to pay tax. But I didn't buy this...yet.
@Zypher oh but you want it... you want it bad. this is quintessential meh merchandising!
Do not miss the video, people. Do. Not. Miss. Almost woke up the kids laughing so hard. Thank you, meh!
@mhuyck that was a pretty great 3 minutes of my life.
@mhuyck I guess I can share this now.
Don't you find it ironic that the box states its waterproof on the lower left hand side but on top upper right hand corner water proof is crossed out? Guess this banana boat speaker box had a "slip up" in production ...
https://res.cloudinary.com/mediocre/image/upload/c_pad,f_auto,dpr_2.0,h_300,q_80,w_300/zmlh1mjez5a6itm7zzcs.png
Aww they now have gone and crossed out waterproof in left hand corner...aren't you glad I saw that ???
@AttyVette -original picture
@AttyVette instead of crossing out the false claim they should have just added the words "almost, but not quite" in front of "water proof."
i just bought one and a month of meh,
does meh plan to honor any warranty claims due to water damage? should i bring it up with the manufacturer in that case?
@thomasaelliott meh has wisely stayed away from any warranty issues :)
@thismyusername seems simple enough. thanks.
... proving that Banana Boat should stick to sun-lotions... and based upon their illuminating "About Us" page, the company that supports these gems needs a new web developer: (text-filler left when the page when live)

@RedOak haha, my favorite part isn't just that they published dummy text, it's that they went to the "Lipsum Generator" website, but instead of actually using it to generate lorem ipsum, they just copied the blurb at the top explaining how to use the site.
This was a ballsy write up Meh.
I was going to buy one but it has no aux. in unless i missed it ..however 5watts is pretty decent for a shit small speaker
@StudioDude They still have some available over on mediocre for VMPs
My hesitation is about battery life; five hours seems way low. But I think something like this could be fun for my great neice who, at 2 1/2, has taken to singing in the bathtub.
@Thumperchick
"Rechargeable 18650-2000mAh Li-Ion battery"
Huh? WTF
@CrossIT 18650 is a type of battery... click here for some details, so they are saying its a 2000mAh capacity 18650 type battery.
@thismyusername good info ty
Damn I was so close, I guessed the yellow and white item tonight would be a banana flashlight...
Anyway, I'm in for two. They will make great Xmas presents for the rabid Star Wars fans in my life.
@Nyc_Tattoo It was grey (ish) - like a moon . . .
@Pavlov It's was grey in the movie so it wouldn't be hard to see next to the black spacescape. In real life it was black.
@Nyc_Tattoo You realize you just typed "in real life", about a work of fiction, right? I mean, cool if it was originally written to be black, that's an interesting factoid, but dude . . .
@Pavlov What?! Fiction? Noooooooooooooo!
@Pavlov Fiction? Oh, you mean history, "A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away...."
@Nyc_Tattoo Pffft. Lego = grey. Therefore, must be grey.
@Pavlov That's no moon!
Another use - car camping. Who cares if it rains or a heavy dew falls??!! Gorgeous-eligible-warlock
This might be the best "meh" meh yet! Hits the speaker/fatal flaw combo perfectly.
@Donborvio I am sure that the meeting that unveiled this product at Banana Boat consisted of the CEO standing up and saying "Brilliant Dexter!, just brilliant!"
@Kylethephotoguy @Kylethephotoguy I'm sure Dee Dee had a hand in the thing's non-waterproofness.
@PocketBrain
That last picture reminds me of my place after the Friday night orgy. I wasn't aware that anyone from Meh attended.
Aw dammit, now I have to get one of these and blast some Harry Belafonte thru them.
six foot, seven foot, eight foot bunch!
@JasonToon, the Grammar Police found an error in your write-up:
"All of it converging to produces this moment. Deal in the sky keep on turning."
Please be more mindful and try to use proper grammar in the future. Thank you.
@jsh139 Okay, where do I get this patch? I know somebody who would wear it proudly.
@jsh139 What about this sentence? " Because this was marketed as a product that nobody want (a floating speaker), nobody bought it at full price."
... should be "nobody wanted"
@PocketBrain I don't know, but it's pretty awesome. I just google image searched "grammar police" and it came up.
@rcade81 absolutely. Or, "nobody would want". Good find!
@rcade81 what about the last sentence? "It's the circle of crap made flesh." I don't get it. Was that supposed to be fresh instead of flesh?
@jsh139 They had it translated into Korean, then back into English.
@jaremelz Ha! That would explain it.
@jsh139 bet the grammar police patch wearer was previously in the "core".
@AttyVette fruitful observation!
@wildmomo I'm guessing if you liked the sound of those Stickup speakers, you'll be quite pleased with the sound of this 10 buck orb.
@wildmomo They're actually pretty okay. I'd compare it more to the X-mini's we had like a year ago.
@wildmomo I thought it sounded really good; definitely a loud speaker for the price. I'm not an audiophile or anything though so I might be a bad judge.
@Moose Loud is good. On the patio, audiophiles do not get to vote.
I wanted to say that this thing looks like the DeathStar on a caribbean vacation, but everybody else saw the comparison, and beat me to it...
Has anyone else noticed that this is just a ROUND speaker dock...?
@comics360 no clock no dock...at least that was the conclusion above.
Dear Meh,
So you bought more than 600 of these?
Sincerely,
In fear of a no sell out
The order name generator must save the special ones just for me. jealous-appalling-psychic has truly appalling images, so THIS, ONG!
@OldCatLady He can arrest me any day.
Perfect for the white-elephant Christmas exchange. I got two to make it extra special.
@pitamuffin maybe change giving this gift at from white elephant exchanges to gifting this banana boat at a yellow ducky ( quack exchange) instead? You know for truth in advertising reasons...
I bought this just to play with corn starch and water.
@Starblind fun-sized adults?
@hollboll This is how you go to prison.
This is worse than happy fun ball.

Check out the online review:

On Summer 2013 is approaching: to cope with the great heat an object particularly useful is definitely. Banana Boat Pool Sound System is portable air conditioner, you can place in any area within your home and easily transportable. Here you will also find all review and features. It goes on from there.....
lol so apparently my mom is getting a free nannerbote speaker. idk. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
thanks meh!
mom says it's cute! also I still don't know why you sent it for free (maybe banana slicer was the closest guess?) but if it makes mom happy then we all done good
wow mine just arrived and it was interesting.
box doesnt have waterproof crossed out.
left button skips forward or backward rather than volume and is flipflopped (left side skips forward and right skips back) power button is pause/play
this behavior doesnt match the paper or the print on the device, which also dont agree with eachother.
almost too meh for me.
also this may interest yall aswell: http://www.amazon.com/AquaLife-Wireless-Bluetooth-Floating-System/dp/B00IJCKRRC/ref=pd_bxgy_422_2?ie=UTF8&refRID=05VCN6BTJFC88M2V48KC
@thomasaelliott
and OMG... that original version had a DOCK!!!!!!! meh what is up... how did you let that slip by????
@thismyusername i cant tell what the dock does, can you? definitely looks like the same item, and it only costs $23 and has a dock, this doesnt feel like much of a great deal anymore
@thomasaelliott I think the dock is a BT transmitter… set your phone on it, plug into the headphone jack, and transmit to the ball.
@thisismyusername i need to try those, ive only attempted water so far, lower frequencies seem to work best.
Got mine yesterday. After a full charge it started working. I’m super impressed for a $10 speaker. Sounds as good as my Amazon Echo and it’s portable!
@giantmoustache just don't feed it after midnight
@giantmoustache Is it that the Echo sounds that bad... or do you really like the sound.. it's not bad... but I would be a bit upset if I paid > $150 and it sounds like this... Not that it sounds bad, but $150 should buy better sound than this.
Also I love how the volume button(s) is(are) working as a next, previous while paired to my iPhone instead of volume... It made me chuckle... (it's 2 buttons but under 1 rubber button... so... Love the speaker. Pairs fine, loud (essential for shower use), and so far battery seems to last a reasonable amount of time.
It has a voice recording that plays when you turn it on/off, and I keep expecting it to start saying "bluetooth modo" when I pair my phone.
@MrGlass BLUETOOTHS MODO IS NOW OPEN!
Yes I brought this post back from the dead.
Still using mine. Wondered if anybody knew if there was a firmware update that would include a “battery % left” indication to list under your Bluetooth connection on your phone… I noticed my newer devices indicate that. This one unfortunately does not

@chienfou and now the Banana Boat song is stuck in my head! Get on the boat…
@tinamarie1974
You’re welcome
@tinamarie1974
BTW if you’re having trouble with the lyrics they’re posted a little higher in this thread!
@chienfou oh no, thanks. I know them all. They are still running through my head!!! I just didnt feel like typing them all
@tinamarie1974
Listening to the lyrics always reminds me of hearing the locals talk in the island patois when we go to St Lucia or other islands in the Caribbean… Makes me smile
