@yakkoTDI I don’t mind the good aroma part…
But reminds me of a comedy line from the late George Carlin: two guys in an elevator, one of the farts; everybody knows who did it.
I like it when it’s from a natural source - like right now there are fragrant flowers blooming around my house and I brought in a bouquet and it smells heavenly!
@Kyeh We have some big purple irises like that blooming - and they smell like grape!
The daphne is done, but I can’t wait for the honeysuckle to bloom…
@macromeh Yes, irises remind me of candy! Do you have Dame’s Rocket in your yard? I do, even though the county would like me to eradicate it (for being invasive) and I cut that for bouquets too, because it has a wonderful, almost spicy scent.
@Kyeh We don’t have Dames Rocket, but there is purple Periwinkle growing wild around here. I would like to get some started at the edge of our yard.
The buds on the honeysuckle that is climbing the wall of our greenhouse are starting to open. It should start smelling nice in a couple of weeks.
@macromeh I have that - it’s not fragrant, though. I’m also looking forward to the mock orange and the linden tree blooming, now that the lilacs and Daphne are done.
@Kyeh Yeah, no real fragrance for the Periwinkle, but it looks nice (even when not blooming, it has pleasant dark green leaves), stays low and seems thick enough to choke out the weeds. And, as it is growing wild and untended nearby, must not need much care.
@macromeh True - it seems fine with shade, dry or wet conditions, total neglect - and I don’t really find it invasive although some people claim it is.
@Tadlem43 It’s all bad, but some methods of delivery are exceptionally unhealthy. If the oil is sprayed into the air, most of it will be in the form of tiny droplets. Our respiratory tracts are better at filtering out larger droplets, like 10 or more microns in diameter. A high percentage of the smaller droplets can make it all of the way to the delicate gas exchange membranes in the alveoli. The tubing in the lungs has protective coatings and a better system to move junk out of the lungs. When stuff makes it to the alveoli, anything that doesn’t cross the membrane into the bloodstream, stays for a long time.
@kittykat9180@macromeh The difference between science and just messing around is writing stuff down. None of the flasks and other glassware are labeled.
Doesn’t matter if the chemist is a human or a cat, if they aren’t keeping track of which chemical is which, you don’t want anything to do with them.
We have a couple reed diffusers that make some rooms smell nice. We have a few children that make the other ones smell not as nice. I don’t feel that the particular scents used are anything beyond pleasant smelling.
Whoever smelt it dealt it!

Tardy or not, he was a funny guy.
Headache inducing.
I don’t need it!

I just checked and my honeysuckle vine has buds - so it’ll bloom soon!

Aroma therapy by name sounds like it should be clearing the sinuses; but my experience with it tends to be the opposite effect.
Depends on the source.
Breathing in oils is never a good thing.

@hamjudo Yep. The body can’t absorb oil in the lungs. It has to be expelled. And good luck with that.
@hamjudo Are you a medical person?
Mostly, it either makes me sneeze violently, gives me a raging headache, or both.
This kind of hack science?
@kittykat9180 I know - I would never use something formulated by a cat.
@macromeh bad experience in the past?

IME, most felines are felons.
@hamjudo @kittykat9180 @macromeh
That’s a good one!
I’m gonna have to try it out on PhD research scientist niece!
@hamjudo @macromeh the poll did say hack science.
