The Seattle office of my company used to allow employees to bring their dogs into the office on Fridays. They had to cancel it eventually because people were leaving dog shit on the floor. :facepalm:
Besides the fact that I work at a hospital and it would definitely not be allowed, sadly I no longer have any pets, having to put my cat down earlier this year.
@SSteve Thank you, I truly appreciate it. The last few years have been tough, having also had to say goodbye to our 2 dogs. I'm going pet free for a while, I need the emotional break.
It would be nice, but being my dog is 105#, they'd need to triple my work area just for her. Also, there are stairs involved, and carrying her up and down could get tiresome...
@JonT@Kleineleh: Comment sign, crosshatch, octothorp, primorial, sharp, and waffle are also acceptable. Besides pounds. :P @Thumperchick: She can be afraid of stairs; at her age (9+), it's understandable.
We have 2 huge cats (Thelma & Louise) in the office. I would really love to bring my dane to work just for the comic relief of watching her chase the cats.
I am retiring as early as possible (this January!!!) in part because I want to spend more time with my dog. I have had several of the agencies I work with ask if I'd consider a part-time job post retirement and I have told them only if I can work from home or bring Simba to the office. At 140lbs and 37.5" at the shoulder he requires quite a bit of space, but he's my guy and I want him with me. He's a certified therapy dog so he knows how to behave in public.
@hart Yeah, at that age it would be torture to sit still for long. Not that it isn't torture for grownups of both canine and human persuasions. We've just gotten used to the idea.
@moondrake She's actually incredibly even-keeled, and would probably be perfectly fine at the office, but she's still got that cute/silly puppy-like demeanor - even at 9 months old.
I voted wrong because I missed the comma in my selection. I thought I was voting for the belief that NOT having animals in the workplace is an abomination.
@medz Whatchoo doin' sniffin' my dog, Medz? I use a shampoo and conditioner formulated "for Red and Yellow Dogs" and it makes Simba smell like mango for about 3 days. But frankly, YMMV. To me, the smell of a dog is a centering, calming scent 100x better than conventional aromatherapy. When I have a migraine or am feeling stressed I hug my dog close and just inhale his love and strength and feel better.

@jsh139 Sure.... "Dog Shit"
@caffeine_dude Well, I didn't work out of that office, so I guess I'll never really know whose it was.
My parrot always perks up those annoying conference calls.
@daddy099999 We have a parrot where I work who sounds just like the phone ringing
Now if I could just get him to say "Please do the needful."
@daddy099999 HAHAHAHA. I'm will to bet most people on here wouldn't understand the hilarity in this comment. At least not without googling.
@daddy099999 This sounds sooooo familiar. Now I feel bad I can't remember :(

Still miss you Chewbie. :(
@Cinoclav I'm sorry to hear about your loss. Losing a loved pet is difficult.

@Cinoclav Since I'm sure this forum page will turn into a scrapbook...

@narfcake wow your dog is 105 hashtags!?
@JonT the # hasn't always meant "hashtag." I'm pretty sure @narfcake meant the dog is 105 tic-tac-toe boards
@narfcake Why would carrying be necessary? Is she afraid of stairs? Or is she a REALLY oversized Corgi?
@JonT @Kleineleh: Comment sign, crosshatch, octothorp, primorial, sharp, and waffle are also acceptable. Besides pounds. :P @Thumperchick: She can be afraid of stairs; at her age (9+), it's understandable.
My wife brings our dog to work every day. She is a veterinarian.
He got a lot of exercise this weekend and is very tired.
@SSteve Let the "baby" pic onslaught begin! (adopting cool hypocritical faux-sarcastic tone):
No pets, no work. (Used to have a dog and 3 cats, but once they were gone, we liked the freedom in retirement to just get up and go.)
How many of the "Yes" votes work for SparkFun? Just wondering.
My cats are in attendance when I'm working at home, but it's not my job; I don't get paid for what I do at home.
As noted elsewhere, I have fish at work. The cat helps whenever I work from home.
Since my current work space is my dining room table, I often have a few furry footstools while I cut and epoxy.
@Thumperchick epoxy? sounds interesting. What do you do?
@chellemonkey
@Thumperchick Ball Jars?
@DaveInSoCal @Thumperchick
@DaveInSoCal I make them into bath sets - soap dispensers, toothbrush holders, q-tip/cotton ball organizers.

I am easily entertained...

@moondrake That is a GREAT picture!
@moondrake someone please photoshop Rafiki doing this to him http://www.lionking.org/~tlkpride/images/screencaptures/simbaannointed2.jpg
@TaRDy @moondrake I don't know why, but okay:
@JonT awesome, thank you! and because @moondrake said his name is Simba
@Teripie Thanks! He's pretty photogenic, but that's my best pic of him.
Mine is probably a little too silly still.

I can't be the only one...
@daver Compassion and creativity are both squashed in our society, to its great detriment.
My friend works at "Goat Grazers".. so she is surrounded by Goats all day. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Goat-Grazers/1432102260363268
I am surrounded by servers :/ there are no goats here.
btw.. There are enough goat pictures there to keep @JonT happy forever.
@spacezorro you're right about that!
No matter how often you wash your dog, it still smells like a dog. Out of the work space, please.
@medz
@JonT Kittehs Rool!

@medz @moondrake My dog's paws smell like corn chips.
