October 18, 2006. A kid in my high school HTML/Macromedia Flash class told me about it. It took until March 20, 2007 to make my first purchase. 84 Woots, including I think four BOCs?
I started in 2007. Have WAY too much stuff from them. 45 BOCs alone. I just donated a ton to Goodwill prior to the new year. Took me seven years to get a letter. I'm still pretty active there.
@chillface Remember the brown Zunes were cheaper? I ordered one, they ran out of brown and sent black? Still have that on the Altec Lansing speaker dock.
@lisaviolet I got a white one in a BOC. Wouldn't hold a charge. Sent it MS for eval and they sent a brand new one to me. Flipped it on eBay for $125. That was one of my favorite BOC items.
@lisaviolet I think the same thing happened to me, unfortunately it never was able to connect to my computer so I was limited to the preloaded music. Ended up selling it on Craigslist to a kid in high school who thought it would be the "Ipod killer" lol

I had a garbage bag full of them and gave away 10-20 to each remote family unit one Christmas. And each year since said remote family segments get one or two more (until I run out) and a bottle of monkey-butt powder as a maintenance item. Still have the ZLM and letter in a shadow box frame.

I never did any online shopping, until 2013 and I kind of wish I never would have started. I joined Woot on June 15, 2013 and my first purchase was Vibram FiveFingers Men's Bikila Shoes. I ended up making 3 separate purchases the day I bought them and paid 3 separate shipping fees. If I only would have known I could combine shipping costs.
I forget. It was a couple of years before the dark times and the subsequent request to close my account. I still shiver in horror over the remembrance of the Robosapien that stayed up for something like 14 hours.
@shinyhat I bought that toaster too! We used it at work for bagel day each week. When I left that job, it got left behind. Still think of it fondly once in a while.
