@2many2no Exactly. Ghostbusters (the one and only original) is a classic. Ghostbusters 2 was awful. The Ghostbuster “remake” was putrid. I can’t imagine that this new “remake” is going to be any better.
Idk if I will see it in the theater or not. But I will watch it. I actually had no interest when I just saw the poster. But I watched the trailer and thought even though they cast a bunch of kids it looked pretty good. Of course I expect to see the OG ghostbusters make an appearance and I think that should be good.
If the reviews are good I may just go to the theater to watch it on the big screen and to eat delicious over priced popcorn.
No because I have three children under five and have had 3 dates in as many years. I don’t dislike Ghostbusters, but I don’t like it enough to give up my annual date night to it.
@kittykat9180 I find the perspective of the wife neglecting the husband to be a rather interesting assignment of blame in the situation. Everyone is entitled to an opinion, though, I suppose.
@jitc, that’s what I’ve noticed in my life. The wife gets so wrapped up in being “mommy” that she forgets to be “wife.”
I’ve seen lots of neglected husbands. Admittedly, if some of those husbands helped more the wife would have more time for him. But on the flip, some wives don’t trust their husband and have him screwing up before he even starts.
@kittykat9180 I’ve just noticed a lot of spouses in general can lose sight of one another because it takes work to keep a household together in all its parts. I wouldn’t chalk it all up to either gender.
@chienfou The short version: if you’re familiar with the book, it’s absolutely incredible. If you’re not, you’re going to be lost. It was clearly made by fans for fans, and I’m worried that might hurt it with casual viewers. Which is important, because it’s only the first half of the book, and I really want to see the second.
I’ll probably go see it in the theater early on a Cheap Tuesday, just because it will probably be entertaining. And given that Ivan Reitman apparently thinks it’s pretty good, I’m willing to shell out for the condiments too.
The original was first and foremost, a comedy. This new one appears to have no humor and is relying on the Stranger Things style of storytelling to ‘reboot’ the franchise. My 13 year old son wants to see it, I’ll pass.
Been looking for this to come out since I first saw the trailer last year in a theater. Guess I may take the missus and make a date out of it. Though I most likely won’t toke one before I go like I did before the original…
When it comes out on Netflix/Amazon…
@2many2no Maybe

@remo28, the popcorn is the best part of the theater. Luckily, my significant other has a movie theater popcorn maker at his brewery.
That’s half right, if it’s from a theater.
@phendrick
what??? You don’t think it’s overpriced???
Ghost shark has already been jumped.
I am pretty sure I will see it at a theater.
There’s a new ghostbusters movie?
@jsfs I came here to ask that …
@jsfs @stolicat absolutely!!
/youtube Ghostbusters afterlife trailer
@jsfs
I would had said the said the thing but I happened to see the trailer on tv yesterday.
@jsfs this was my exact thought

@jitc, common story, woman pops out a few kids and the neglects her husband. Then we wonder why there’s so many divorces.

probably, when it is streaming.
I will definitely see it at a theater. By the way Regal theaters have cheap tickets and half priced popcorn on Tuesdays.
Yes, because my wife really wants to. I’d be a bit more excited for it if any of the trailers suggested that it might be a comedy.
(I’m more excited for Dune. Going to see it tonight.)
@dannybeans
come back and give us the review when you do! I love those books (especially the original)

OK, thanks for the heads up. Need to revisit the 1984 movie sometime for nostalgia’s sake…
