I’m 15 minutes from my hometown, my mom is dead, my dad is dead to me. My sister comes to my house to visit for holidays if she’s available.
So no.
Sometimes we might drive an an hour or so to visit my inlaws. But drive back home at the end of the night.
I’ve got my husband and our 2 kids. If we didn’t go anywhere at all, I’d be content. (but also don’t want to host, bc I’ve done that, and I don’t have the energy for it)
@LaserEyes Sadly both of my parents have gone to their Big Home, this will be my 1 Holiday season without either. My sister is in FLA PTL Hundreds/ Thousands of miles away. So it is just me!
At this point, as the third-eldest of the surviving family, and having lived in the same place for over 35 years, this is “home”. And I don’t fly anywhere that I can reach by driving instead.
@kittykat9180
We actually have a flight booked for Christmas day. I have found that’s generally a pretty good day to fly as traffic is down considerably.
@chienfou, Christmas Day and NYE or NY day tend to be inexpensive days to fly. Each year I consider flying somewhere on those days to South America. Instead I just stay home.
Last year I flew my nephew out to visit during his school break. This year I’m taking him to Finland in late January for his graduation present (he recently graduated and just got his passport in the mail).
@kittykat9180
We fly out Christmas Day (from ATL no less) for a 3 week trip to the Carib. Taking a sailboat cruise from St Lucia to Martinique for a week, then ferry to Martinique to spend a few extra days, then a week in Guadaloupe. Getting a chance to brush up on my French again. Looking forward to the barefoot Cruise as they always a lot of fun. All together will be five couples that we know so we’ll make up about half the passengers on the boat.
For the last several years we have been taking the grandkids on trips as birthday / Christmas / graduation presents. I think making memories and expanding their horizons is a great idea.
I don’t have anywhere to go! Parents gone, sister hates me ( that’s a good thing ), not Married, no kids, though I have a few friend live in my child hood home.
That would mean I have to see my family? I mean the ones who haven’t been in jail, rehab, or under suspicion of voter fraud? Those are the only fun ones and they are not available right now, ya know, having fled the country. Nah, I’m kidding, but NO!
@mediocrebot They don’t look at all ready for holiday travel.
(Though their faces look like they’ve already been through a stereotypical bad family/in-law Thanksgiving weekend. Maybe that’s why they look like they’re freefalling from an airplane? Is this the only way they know how to not remember the experience?)
I am home.
@cengland0 you beat me by seconds
@cengland0 I live in Childhood home.
I don’t have any wings.
@OnionSoup we can get you some, thanks to Modem tech & meds!
@mycya4me I would like that.
@mycya4me @OnionSoup
(BTW one of my all-time favorite Christmas movies.)
@chienfou @mycya4me @OnionSoup And here, I thought it was just going to be another Red Bull joke.
@chienfou @OnionSoup @xobzoo It could be the song about a Reindeer running over a Grandma! HAHAHAHA
I live at home, so.
@PooltoyWolf so do I!
If you mean 80 to 85 mph on I95 for 4 hours, then yes
@somf69 no one flies on i95, unless you are in central Florida (or at 3 am).
@somf69 what is parking lot called I-95 located??

Driving 1084 miles each way Takes 2 days. Usually sleep in my minivan on the way and way back.
@Kidsandliz I guess you have Autopilot on that minivan?

I’m staying right where I am now. 'Round about 4:20 on Thanksgiving afternoon I’ll be flying.
@Pavlov I’m guessing yours isn’t a Red Bull joke, either.
/showme all the people who are flying without the use of Red Bull

@mediocrebot Close But not what I was looking for!
Family is coming to me this time.
