Where is the bad at selling self for jobs and selling products option? Maybe just a simple "yes on everything"
Job hunting right now and was told my resume is weak, and I’m definitely the ‘“familiar with the product and its myriad flaws” and think folks should be informed customers’ type.
@MagnaVis that is a very generous offer, but my problem apparently isnt stuff that can be fixed without knowing me well. Our co brought in a professional resume writer and she had only some tweaks, but the manager i worked with said it was weak because she thought my resume was entirely too humble given what she saw me do over the last couple years.
No issues selling myself during job interviews and promotion considerations because I basically know the criteria by which I’ll be judged. The expectations are literally documented, and I know I’m good at what I do, so it’s no big deal.
Dating, though. What one person finds attractive will make someone else ghost you. Since people have a sea of options at their fingertips nowadays, even a small flaw might completely eliminate you from contention (I admit I’ve done this at times). And there’s no way you can know where those landmines are beforehand.
My biggest flaw is that I’m always much more awesome than the person interviewing me, and he or she or xhe always holds that against me. That really can be the only explanation…
That kind of thing isn’t legal where I live.
@awk Somehow. In 2018.

@mollama Want me to take a look at your resume? You could upload it somewhere with the personal information changed.
No pressure, but I look at a lot of resumes, and I’d be happy to offer some advice, if you want it.

@mollama Ah, I see, and thus you are selling yourself short. Well, good luck in your endeavors!

I’m terrible. I can’t take a compliment… so trying to talk good about myself is pretty tough. I do o.k. in interviews, I suppose.
@RiotDemon I admire your honesty and candor, and thank you for your thoughtful and thought provoking comment.
Your turn.
@shahnm my turn to put the batteries in the fridge?
@RiotDemon You’re hired!
My biggest flaws are that I try too hard and care too much…
