So, remember when I said you fuck it up every night? Well, my option isn't on there... again.
I don't technically have Prime, but I use a guest account on my brother's Prime membership. I don't watch the streaming content, so there's really no sense in me paying for my own membership. However, if I wanted a tattoo, the neck tattoo of Amazon would make about as much sense as any. I'll just check that... I guess...
I really am just being difficult. It's fun! No wonder my kids won't listen to my wife!
I love prime but it has contributed toward making me even more hermit like than before. If I can get it on Amazon for the same or lower price, I don't go to the store anymore. It has also made me less careful about doing all my shopping at one time during the day. There have been days when I've realized I was in need of 5 different things at different times of the day so Amazon got 5 separate orders from me. Amazon Prime is probably going to lead to the fall of civilization but I'm not giving it up. I have easily saved enough in gas to justify the cost of Prime.
Did have it as a part of "Amazon Mom" program for a year, and it was evil(genius), pure evil(genius)! Cause it had me ordering almost everything or at least checking Amazon first (for price). Think during that 12 month span had like near 100 orders. 12 months before that?? Like 8 or so.. Now that I don't have it anymore(also father passed away and no longer order his 'medical' supplies from there) but orders are way back down @ Amazon for me. Amazon should be giving prime away for free and had me hooked! But they let me off. Course I know it's hard to call something Prime that's free, but that's their problem. :'|
Sure would be helpful if this 'new post' box was bigger, 3 lines is hard to catch all my grammar/spelling mistakes before clicking "say it".
I have it. Finding out videos is included (Roku Compatible) was an added bonus... that alone makes it cheaper than Netflix (which by the way doesn't have Star Trek the Next Generation series in remastered HD and Prime does through season 5). I guess there is a music service available to me as well that I have yet to check out.
I've been a Prime member since it came out. When I lived in Wyoming, there were enough books that I wanted that weren't available locally that it saved me a ton in shipping. Then came the Kindle, and my print book purchases declined but other things took their place in my shopping cart. My mom, sister and boyfriend are on my family list, so they get free shipping too. I watch maybe 3-4 movies a year, along with a couple series that I caught up on. Previously, most of my music listening was via Google Play, but now the Prime Music playlists keep me jamming all day.
I'm pretty sure Google + Amazon = Sky net. I'm ok with that.
Yes, I am an Amazon Prime member, however I do not intend to renew it when the time is up. Due to financial restraints, I am not buying enough to make it worthwhile anymore, and I do not like the way Amazon Video is organized, or rather how it is not organized. Plus, I have heard that Amazon Prime members are actually charged more than non members for items, and the change of Add On Items, is just isn't worth it anymore.
I am not a prime member. Most of the things I order from Amazon have free shipping anyway. Yeah, they take a couple days longer to get here, but oh well.
Cheap diapers delivered to my front door before I run out paired with free streaming of every season of Dora, Diego, Pajanamals, and Super Why...enough said
If you don't care about streaming content and you're careful about bunching your orders to eliminate shipping costs, Prime is a waste of a benjamin. Plus there's always Subscribe & Save.
I buy my online items in small bursts. I'll buy one item and then two days later realize I have so many more things to buy, then my friends decide they need to buy things so I let them use my free 2-day shipping and then I have more and more friends! Prime is a life-saver during Christmas because I HATE malls so I will pay to have everything shipped to me instead of trying to maneuver through screaming children and louder parents. Also, Julia Child and Jacques Pepin (two of my favorite chefs) are on Instant Video and the new Amazon Music keeps me sane during work and saves me SO much money on albums I probably would have ended up buying and playing at work anyway. So, in short, yes. I have the Prime neck tattoo.
Until they eliminate their Super Saver shipping option, Prime is just a way to raise your Amazon shipping costs by $100 dollars a year (from $0). Oh, but it does give you free access to their crappy library of video content you didn't want to watch anyway! It is not for me.
I watched the first season of Justified last weekend (love binge watching). Being free makes it very easy to do.
Amazon Prime video has shows that aren't on Netflix.
And I really like the free two day shipping (but I've noticed if you're not using Prime -say you're not logged in - sometimes the cost of the widget is less than Prime; adding in the shipping brings it up to the Prime cost).
So even with out Prime Video and Music, I've been a member since the beginning. I've had folks argue the merits for years. Here is what keeps me.
I've never had a year where Prime didn't pay for itself. The year I bought my son a weight bench? PRIME (that sucker was heavy) The year I bought medicine for the dogs that was half the price the vet charges? PRIME (every year). The year my wife needed a voice recorder for work meetings? PRIME (showed up a day late and they offered a 30% discount on the original price to make up for it) So really ever year. Count in the saved gas and less to lug from the store? WIN WIN.
Customer service is outstanding and they threw in the free videos and music just to frost the cake.
I am currently a prime member but will not renew next time around. I have it primarily for groceries.
Groceries in NYC are a small fortune, especially for organic foods. No joke almost $7 a box for cereal. $6.50 a bag for organic brown rice. All of that stuff, while I have to buy in multiples of 6, is half as expensive through Amazon and saves me a shopping trip.
Google Shopping Express which just launched in NYC allows me to buy from Costco (which is even less expensive than amazon and offers same day delivery) and delivers it right to my door.
It's kind of game over. I don't have to deal ninja for sales or keep my eye on every single little deal amazon offers as I know that Costco is pretty consistent in their low prices. The amount of time that frees up for me alone is pretty amazing.
Of course I do. Had it off and on for years. My husband went back to school so we were able to get half price prime (hooray!), which has made the same day shipping even more delicious.
Though I'm hoping the price hike didn't have much to do with the Prime Music thing, otherwise that'd be like being forced into a subscription to Spotify except it's not as good as Spotify :<
I live in a city and don't have a car. It's almost amazing how much time and effort -- and money, even -- I've saved by having Amazon deliver stuff that I previously had to lug through the streets in a bubbe cart. Kitty litter! Art supplies! Bookcases! Pepper jelly! Taco kits! Prime lives!
I've had prime for years and love it. Have two kids and a grandkid on my account and think it would be nice if any or all of them offered to pay some of the yearly bill. Dream on.
As a dad of a young child, Prime has been a life saver... Diapers, wipes, etc.
Oh yeah, and that whole Amazon Prime Video thing too.
I'm not, but I have my father in laws prime account info (shhh, don't tell anyone.) Oh, and i help him pay for it too.
How will this poor struggling mom & pop business survive with you taking advantage of these loopholes?
I recall one can share Prime shipping with up to four family members, but you don't get Video and the other stuff.
I don't buy enough stuff from there, but I did sign up for the club here
I didn't answer the survey because I think not buying free shipping when I get free shipping from them for free makes me very bright.
My kids have really been into the new Tumble Leaf show. It's pretty great.
So, remember when I said you fuck it up every night? Well, my option isn't on there... again.

I'll be so sad the day you say we had your answer as a choice.
I hope that day never comes
Where's the button for "I mooch off this and netflix from my parents?"
You just found it
My kids do this to me....I'm a dummy.
I'm down with the AP, yeah you know me.
I've thought about it before - multiple times - and couldn't justify it. Even the old $79/year price meant ... at least a half-dozen fewer shirts!
I do have a Costco membership. 100# doggie means I buy lots of dog food.

I GIVE UP
@jont: I've yet to find any other dog food that offers the quality/quantity for the price. Also, human food too!
@narfcake I've been agonizing over what dog food to buy. Thanks for sharing your recommendation!
@narfcake @katylava My veterinary dernatologist (how could that be more "first world problems?") actually recommended kirkland for my pup!
My 142lb doggie can only tolerate Taste of the Wild Pacific Stream (grain free salmon and sweet potato). Not a cheap date, my boy.

^^The power of Prime.
The power of Prime compells you! The power of Prime compells you! The power of Prime compells you!
I did one of their trials and have been meaning to subscribe when I have the spare dough to spend. It was pretty sweet.
Did have it as a part of "Amazon Mom" program for a year, and it was evil(genius), pure evil(genius)! Cause it had me ordering almost everything or at least checking Amazon first (for price). The box should expand the more you type in it, if not: https://meh.com/wrong

I <3 Prime. And not just Optimus.

I believe you are correct. Begin to worry when they launch the drones!
Can I be on your family list too ?

I heard that amazon prime members get charged more because of Lizard People.
many years ago amazon experimented with different pricing. they no longer do. camelcamelcamel can confirm prices are equal.
I am not a prime member. Most of the things I order from Amazon have free shipping anyway. Yeah, they take a couple days longer to get here, but oh well.

"double-prime"
lolz
Prime with the educational discount. Boom.
If you don't care about streaming content and you're careful about bunching your orders to eliminate shipping costs, Prime is a waste of a benjamin. Plus there's always Subscribe & Save.
The weird thing is....nobody in the house remembers signing up for prime. It just appeared.
Since my husband doesn't go to a store unless Amazon doesn't have something, it has worked out for us.
I buy my online items in small bursts. I'll buy one item and then two days later realize I have so many more things to buy, then my friends decide they need to buy things so I let them use my free 2-day shipping and then I have more and more friends! They did bump Super Saver up to $35 I think.
They did. I think it was about 6 months ago.
I watched all the "Warehouse 13" episodes on Prime. It's not all crappy content!
You're telling me the entirety of Star Trek isn't worth watching?
Call me when you are buying for a family of 4 and have re-evaluated the cost.
I don't think the 2 day shipping is a negligible benefit. It's saved me in fuel costs, several times.
The time & frustration I save trying to group family purchases to get over the $35 hump is worth $100 a year to me.
@mydrivec, I need your number
Seems like the more you buy from AMZ, the less Prime saves you. I don't even fetch my mail every two days; I don't need an order that fast.
If you do need something in 2 days, check amazonsupply.com - over $50 ships free.
It does come in very handy during the holidays though. Luckily my wife is registered as a student and we can sign up for prime half-off.
Yes! A family member happens to work at a university and has all the power of all the email addresses they want so...yeah I use their's
Yes, Prime... I will be assimilated, resistance is futile. I'm really behind on my Prime Instant Videos though.
I watched the first season of Justified last weekend (love binge watching). Being free makes it very easy to do.
Amazon Prime video has shows that aren't on Netflix.

I've noticed that once in a while but I've found the regular price is so good, it doesn't matter.
So even with out Prime Video and Music, I've been a member since the beginning. I've had folks argue the merits for years. Here is what keeps me.

Pretty sure mine paid for itself this year with one purchase of a bigscreen TV shipped for free to my door.
I don't have a truck and had just moved at the time when I bought it so I wouldn't really have an easy way to get one at all. Thanks Prime.
I didn't have to choose between the 3-4 styles of window ACs at the local stores this year because of Prime (plus they are heavy)
I am currently a prime member but will not renew next time around. I have it primarily for groceries.
Groceries in NYC are a small fortune, especially for organic foods. No joke almost $7 a box for cereal. $6.50 a bag for organic brown rice. All of that stuff, while I have to buy in multiples of 6, is half as expensive through Amazon and saves me a shopping trip.

you lost me at 'organic cereal'.
@marklog: What's to lose? Grains can be grown organically. So can cotton for textiles.
@marklog You lost me at fingering your dog.
Move on
Of course I do. Had it off and on for years. My husband went back to school so we were able to get half price prime (hooray!), which has made the same day shipping even more delicious.

…Taco kits?
Taco kits from heaven!
Oh, well that explains it!
My daughter has it and I am on her account. I don't think I would do it at the current pricing. Don't see the value for me.
Subscribe and savers... What do you do with all the boxes?
We recycle them, or use them to ship stuff to my out of state family.
Recycle unless I've got to ship something.
I tried recycling mine but the garbage truck takes them as brush before the recycle truck comes around
hide inside one of them and scare the bejeebus out of the dog.
I've had prime for years and love it. Have two kids and a grandkid on my account and think it would be nice if any or all of them offered to pay some of the yearly bill. Dream on.
Me and a couple friends split the cost and share the benefits, yes!
