Very strange, their website has 5-game and 12-game models (both for $199, both sold out), but no 8-game model. So while the Meh price is apparently regular price, these are from elsewhere in the multiverse and thus: collectible?
@CANNONFODDER MAME on the pc with a controller worked well. More recently bought one of those Chinese handhelds with a bunch of games and it turned out to be better than expected.
The worst was an officially licensed one that hooked up to your tv. That had rubbish controls that were super laggy.
@ponagathos More of Galaxian clone. VFD display, with a Fresnel lens built in (you can kind of see it in the photo). 4 D cells, but it burned through them so fast that I added a DC jack to it.
Since it’s a VFD the ships and bullets have discrete positions, but it actually plays pretty smoothly.
Trivia: David (Doctor Who) Tennant had one as kid.

@blaineg Link is fixed!

@molin123 looks like a QVC special, with a perfectly mediocre 3 star reviews
@heartbleed oh that does sound mediocre, my buy-it finger is tingling
@molin123 Yeah I don’t get it. This is not a “best deal evah” situation by any stretch. Was really hoping for sub-100 so I’d be tempted.
@molin123 @stinks $99 and it certainly would be a BUY
I am not buying this thing. If I did, it would be the maybe hundredth thing bought because it had Galaga.
@ponagathos Which were the best? I tried the Steam version, but I don’t like the keyboard controls.

@ponagathos Galaga is worth it.
@ponagathos Not Galaga, but I’ve put a lot of hours on this.
@blaineg Never saw that thing before. Is it a Galaga clone or Galaxian?

Possibly able to do the “game hack” and add more games but still not a deal
How much was this one? I kinda wanna know so I know how hard to kick myself for missing it.
@bibulb $200
But it’s a pain to assemble and the parts begin to break down after a year (or a month if you’re particularly intense with your playing)
