@MrMark I'm still rocking my G2 also, although I'm in the market for an upgrade. Looking at the S7 Edge, but can't decide if I should go Snapdragon (S820) or Exynos (E8890).
I was also considering rooting my G2, but I'd have to decrypt and reset, then root and blah blah blah...
Even though for a while it's been such that you can't install an OTA if you're rooted, there's an app (which was updated) to allow one to install the OTA and maintain root.
The only disadvantage for me with it is that on my Nexus 5, I'm using systemless root, so even after using the app to flash the monthly security patches, I still have to flash twrp, although I think even that can be circumvented.
Oh yeah, forgot that this app is in beta testing. I guess that would explain why when I upload the updates to this app to APK Mirror, they get marked as Beta.
@FroodyFrog And when I click the link to become a tester it goes back to the 404 page. I probably couldn't do OTA anyway because I have so many system apps frozen or uninstalled. Thanks, though!
I'm hoping for wireless charging for iphone... but I think that would be with the 7 and the next keynote... :) OR they have to save something for the 7s....
@thismyusername I agree about the huge phones I see people carrying. Especially the guy who had one on a belt clip. He leaned to one side when he walked....
Apple imo has been hardware driven with a simple apps for mainstream.
When I think why I am pumped for this new IPhone, it's not because of a "Killer App"; I just want the 5 or 6 apps I do run to run faster and finally upgrade to 4g cellular service.
I remember how many computers DOOM sold when it came out in the 90's. Where's the next "Killer App"?
@MrGlass I respectfully disagree. Virtual Reality is amusement park ride or research/training tool. It's application for the consumer may be limited because done well, it cuts you off from the real world and the people around you. Facebook and similar products work because they are a platform for others to see how successful you are. :) like Meh forums!
@Strongman Was DOOM not an amusement park ride? I don't think VR is the future of all computing (far from it) but I do think it will be the next "killer app" that sells millions of machines.
@MrGlass fair point, but 3d tv failed because it was an "individual" novelty not a group exprience. i suspect until we have a holo deck type expreience it will remain interesting but not key driver in consumer electronics. Now google glass, I could see that similar application of tech being the next doom. i cant wait until apple does their take on it
Coming back to my 1st thought, Doom sold hardware. VR and 3Dtv and even google glass are hardware without an experience that is significantly different than what is available now. My concern with phones and mobile computers is that how much better can cameras get?Screen quality? The core functionality of most apps do not strain the processor in many phones. Doom created an experience that no one had had before and it sold computers. The expectations of VR are unrealistic (Holo deck). It's not going to sell phones or other mobile computer devices.
A new charging port so I have to replace every bit of Apple gear that I own. That would be awesome.
I'll just see what Samsung did last year so I know what is new with Apple....I kid.
I still use an old LG G2, so I'm not too up to date with the latest and greatest from any manufacturer.

there ya go, all better
@MrMark @DaveInSoCal what version of android is on your G2 just out of curiousity
Had the g2 on kitkat until i got the galaxy s7. I had rooted it and was too lazy to undo it so i could upgrade.
So far I like the s7 a lot but I miss knock to wake and quick memo in the notifications tray.
@communist Mine runs 5.0.2 (Lollipop)
@MrMark @communist I'm on 5.0.2 also.

@FroodyFrog Which app is that?
@hallmike
FlashFire

@FroodyFrog hmmm... "We're sorry, the requested URL was not found on this server."
@FroodyFrog found this: https://play.google.com/apps/testing/eu.chainfire.flash

The system apps wouldn't make a difference though. I have a bunch of them removed from my phone, and I don't have issues.
New Price On Apple Watch... starts at 299...... Makes todays deal not as great... right? @holboll
@sohmageek ouch
@sohmageek almost got my name right.
@hollboll ouch
@Ignorant I call 'em like I see 'em.

oh! an iphone SE.... I wonder if "trump finger edition" didn't work out well in customer segments... ;)
I bet they will be dropping iphone 4S 5 5C and have only 64 bit support soon...
I hope they come out with an Android phone.
Seriously, though. This was a bit tongue-in-cheek, but an Android phone designed by Apple would probably be awesome.
It was pretty distracting watching them pace all over the stage.
The absolute best reaction to today's revelation: meh.

Well to be fair, the 5S did need some internal upgrades... and some people don't like to carry around a phablet. I think it was a wise move by apple.

It took longer than most tech companies, but Apple's finally reached the boring stage (imo).

@Strongman Doom was a group experience thanks to network play. Same will go for VR games. Even local multiplayer games like artemis

@Strongman
I say this mostly jokingly: camera megapixel, although I don't suppose that was where you were headed.
I have to say, I think Liam will give MedocreBot a run for its money.
