Anyone subscribe to TikiLIVE IPTV programming?
0Their “Cinema” programming package looks like a fair deal for $50.
Ya, I know, fiddy bones is a bit of dosh for a streaming subscription. But it includes all the key channels like AMC, A&E, TBS, History, Discovery, Cartoon Net, USA, TBS, etc. Plus HBO, Showtime, Cinemax, Sony. AND the big 4 OTA networks (ABC, CBS, Fox, NBC). Yes, there’s even the sporty channels if you’re down with that kind of thing. And there’s some kind of cloud DVR feature I’m having trouble finding many details about. The only box it doesn’t tick for me is BBC/BBCA.
I haven’t subscribed yet, but it sounds like a reasonable alternative to my current Dish satellite subscription. I have the core channels plus HBO, and a local hardware DVR. I don’t get my local channels in the Dish package ($5 more per month). I pay $55/mo incl. tax. My TV doesn’t have a tuner, so I don’t have the option to add an antenna for OTA to get those networks.
TikiLIVE wouldn’t save me any money, but it would get me Showtime, Sony and Cinemax for the same cost. Plus I can add the “5 devices” upgrade and grant access to a couple friends.
Anyone using this IPTV provider?

I didn’t see AMC on their channel listings, but I could have just missed it.
I haven’t used their service. We did a trial of YouTube TV, same concept with cloud DVR, and it actually seemed really great. I wonder how they are doing hbo and Showtime in the package, most I’ve seen either have an additional fee or you have to also subscribe to something like hbo go.
It turns out that the cheapest way to get TV with all the football channels for my mother in law was to use the uverse TV and fiber internet bundle, so we abandoned the search for a “live” streaming service. We don’t watch TV enough in our house to warrant anything beyond Netflix/Hulu/Prime and OTA.
@djslack Their website isn’t exactly forthcoming with information, is it. I found this channel list buried in their content. I copied/pasted into a spreadsheet and sorted for easier digestion:
@djslack Here’s the linky where I found it.
Have you looked at SiliconDust (Quatro or Duo)? They’re offering a Premium subscription, but if you add in their DVR (or use Plex DVR) you get OTA and DVR for essentially a one-time cost.
Another option is Tivo Roamio OTA all-on (or Bolt OTA if you think OTA 4K is actually a “thing”, but it will upscale and stream AMZN and NFLX in 4K). It has apps for most streaming services.
Expect more degeneration and balkanization across streaming as AT&T, Disney, Charter, and Comcast all rollout their own services and lock up exclusive shows/cable channels. Netflix is already shuttering their Marvel and Disney content ahead of the inevitable Disney launch.
@mike808 OTA actually has very little appeal to me. I haven’t had local OTA channel access for at least ten years or more, so everything I watch is via “cable” channels like AMC, TBS, etc or “premium” channels like HBO, STARZ, and so on.
I looked into Plex and Play-On for what they bring to the table, but total price for these, plus record credits, plus the actual streaming services well exceeded the $55 I pay now to Dish Network for 133 channels plus HBO and a local DVR.
Already in just a short time this whole sector has undergone so many changes it’s nearly impossible to keep score. Also, more and more content providers are opting to offer their own direct subscription access (Fxx for example, or AMC who started offering direct subscriber options over the summer). Interesting times…
is this that different from Sling?
@tightwad Yes, totally different company I believe.
