Anyone else have a terrible Thanksgiving ?
10Dad and stepmom both sick and i took them to emergency room where they were both admitted to the hospital. Since they have covid, they couldn’t have visitors and were out in isolation. My stepmom also has pneumonia too! Because I had been exposed to covid, I couldn’t be with my other family members either. I stayed home, just me and my dogs. Other things happened too so I’m already ready for all of the holidays to be over

Oh wow - that’s a lot of misfortune at once! Sorry to hear it and I hope everyone gets better soon.
@Kyeh thanks for caring . It’s been a rough week this past week
@AttyVette I hope you stay well too!
@AttyVette How are things going now? I hope these holidays are better than Thanksgiving was for you!
@Kyeh sorry haven’t been online much and missed your post — Christmas was a bust too as I caught covid again ( had it previously early last year) and had to stay sequestered in my bedroom away from daughter, grandsons and spouse. So I had covid twice last year and had the flu too about two months ago. Go figure I took all the covid shots and boosters plus flu shot and still caught covid and the flu .
@AttyVette Oh, MAN - you can’t catch a break - that’s terrible! I sure hope this new year goes better for you!
I am so very sorry. Hope everyone recovers quickly, and then maybe the three of you can have a belated Thanksgiving feast together
That’s so depressing’
Are the various I’ll persons doing any better?
Do you think you are gonna get COVID?
At least you have the pups for company.
/giphy pups
Altho … keep an eye on the pups, there have been cases of caniche COVID prob transmitted from humans … tho I think the canine illnesses were mild?
@f00l My dad and step mom were sent home from the hospital but still aren’t doing well. They have appointments tomorrow and Thursday to see their family drs. Ridiculous the hospital sent them home.
I have read about animals getting covid. I hope my dogs don’t get sick but they seem fine so far. Thanks again for caring
@AttyVette @f00l Cats are far more likely to contract it than dogs, and even cats don’t typically contract it, so you’re probably OK there. At an event back in August, I was room-sharing with a business associate when he came up positive for covid (with significant symptoms), and I didn’t catch it. I tested every other day for two weeks just to be sure. If you’re up to date on your vax, you’ve got the best chance of staying negative. But keep on being cautious!
@f00l @werehatrack thanks I’ll do so !
The holidays can magnify the bad things but mostly the good. Glad the family is getting better and you are staying healthy.
Our holiday was odd because it was a smaller gathering. One branch of the family tree wanted to host their own dinner, a few people didn’t feel well so stayed home.
Hugs
Yes! My dad fell taking his garbage can to the curb on Wednesday, and he managed to “tolerate the pain” from Wednesday until Sunday before he would let me take him to the ER where not the X-ray, but the CT scan confirmed a fracture on his ‘greater trocanter bone’ or top of his femur. No surgery needed just 10 days of Lidocaine patches and some coated Tylenol pills. He’s 80 and lives independently mostly. He said he didn’t want to miss any holiday food family and fun while possibly being admitted in the hospital so he sat on his heating pad and slept a lot to get through it!
@AZnatural1
Oh no! I hope he heals fast!
@AZnatural1 so sorry to hear about your father— praying he heals up and is 100% better asap!
@AttyVette How are you all doing now?
@Kyeh father is better but honestly, step mom isn’t doing well at all:(. She’s been back to see several drs- very concerned about her Thanks for asking about them
@AttyVette Wow, I sure hope she gets better soon.
We have given up on actually celebrating any holiday on a specific day!!! My dad is having radiation and chemo, so the slightest sniffle keeps us away from him. Of course, my husband got the plague from my children 3 days before Thanksgiving. We are having it this weekend tho.
I hope you weather all of these trials safely!
@mikibell I completely agree with this - my family has celebrated on non-official days often, for various reasons. It’s still good!
I hope everyone’s completely recovered soon.
