Controlled via app, and shows other signs of not just being internet-enabled, but internet-required.
So it becomes useless e-waste when Anova shuts down the servers. Which is likely to happen sooner rather than later, given their business plan was to subsidize the cost of these with a monthly subscription for “more features” that nobody wants or needs.
@gdorn I own an Anova that is bluetooth capable. I say capable, because I haven’t used it in the decade I have had it. It is held together with tape, but still functions.
If I wanted a circulator that was controlled by an app, I would have replaced it with a Joule, which is more powerful, better looking, BUT… I can’t plug it in, manually set a temp, and walk away.
Now having one that is IoT is completely unnecessary and the reason I have passed on this the last dozen times I have seen it on here.
(When my Anova finally shits out to where duct tape and soldering doesn’t fix it, I will begrudgingly replace it with a Joule)
