I picked this up a few 'thons ago. This has no buttons or means of operation without the app. The app is free (who needs to pay for an app to get recipies?) but it can be a nusiance. That being said, I kind of like knowing how things are going with a glance. I have other sous vides and keep this one at work.
I had done some googling about these previously and mini version has no real controls on it so you can only control it via the app. If you didn’t need the app I would be buying a few.

Is the Anova app optional or required to operate this thing? Asking for a friend
@hanson They paywalled the recipe section and only grandfathered in old cookers for free access.
As far as setting the cooker, the app should work fine though, I’ve never had problems with my older cooker.

Needs an app, hence it’s on meh, 'cuz that’s pretty meh. The $15 price is really tempting but I think I am set with sous vide devices.
