An Update:
6Well, It’s been a while.
So, something happened.

[1]:
I sprained my ankle.
Yeah, I tripped on the stairs and fell. Major sprain. I got a brace on right now, but it still stings. And this isn’t a pity thing. I’m just saying this is why I haven’t been posting as much. I should be better in about… 3 weeks, if everything goes well.
Anyways, now I can return to this community.
Until next time, this is Wollyhop, signing off. (For now.)

You heal fast.
But in case you don’t, keep up the light exercises so your body doesn’t atrophy from the rest you should be giving it
Ouch! Sorry. I used to spring my ankle continuously as a kid. Thankfully those were easy to heal from because … youth. For years I switched to high-tops. Today I have mostly avoided the ankle burn. I am actually very conscious of falling down the stairs because … age.
Take it easy and get better , but … I can’t help it … sorry! …

@cfg83 Here’s the image you requested for “Anthropomorphized goat named Wollyhop typing on computer with their sprained foot. Doctor in back…”
Condolences and best wishes for a quick recovery.
I know all too well how painful ankle/foot injuries can be. I once slid/fell off a roof, feet first. My left foot took most of the impact (and damage), shattering my heel bone into 5 pieces and causing a major ankle sprain. I was on crutches for over 4 months. 33 years later, I still have a metal plate and 5 screws in my foot and on bad days, I walk with a limp. Fortunately on the (more common) good days, I hardly notice it.
Gravity is an unforgiving bitch…
@macromeh
Thankfully the one time that happened to me I escaped any injury. Young body was a blessing.
Last time I did something that impacted my feet I fell off of a step ladder (while using an extension pole hedge trimmer) and tore my achilles. That was a bitch. Still have numbness and decreased range of motion in my left foot but as you say most days I don’t pay attention/notice.
/giphy OUCHIE!

I hope you heal fast!
Are you in an air splint or boot?
Remember, even when you regain full use, that ankle will be weaker for an extended period of time. You’ll need to either make a conscious effort to build it back up or be more careful with it going forward.
Good luck
Suffered a similar malady on Easter Sunday, although it sounds like yours is much more severe. We had about a foot of snow fall in the days before, but it was relatively nice out after we got home from a family gathering, so we decided to go for a walk. I didn’t even switch shoes, which came back to bite me, as a stepped through a ridge of snow, sank in until it turned to ice at which time my ankle decided to turn about 90 degrees off axis, and both Mrs. H & I heard a loud POP. “That’s not good!” we were both thinking. Ended up at the clinic on Monday as I could barely put any weight on the wounded appendage. Fortunately, it was “just” a sprain, and as of the last couple days I’m almost back to normal. It was driving me nuts not being active (I average a little over 14K steps/day…) so to have to sit around doing nothing was worse than the pain of the sprained ankle.
