After a long weekend we are back at it.
7We’re all back in the HQ again answering emails after a long weekend.
I saw John Wick 3 which was better than 2 I thought definitely worth going to see. Other than that just gamed, walked a bit around White Rock Lake and some other parks and hung out. Pretty nice weekend.
What did you do this weekend?

I spent most of it ducking tornadoes, thanks for asking.
@therealjrn Well, I’m glad to see you were successful.
@Targaryen Meeee too!
@therealjrn Well, today we’re dodging tornadoes! Just had to pile in the warehouse because a couple warnings came our way.
@Targaryen It’s been a wild weather springtime! Are you sure being in a warehouse is the safest place?
/giphy you’re doing it wrong
@Targaryen @therealjrn When you have the top floor, all glass, 360° view fancy office…

I watched the Bruins and Blues kick the snot out of each other and was pleased to see the team of my rooting interest win. GO BRUINS!
@zinimusprime
@mfladd I may or may not want to dry hump this gif…
I watched the same game @zinimusprime mentioned above. Good hockey, but the wrong team won.
Let’s see what happens tomorrow
/giphy Go Blues
@tinamarie1974
@mfladd hahahahahaha
@tinamarie1974 Your team’s loss is immortalized in Boston forevah!
@mfladd old news. I am surprised it took you so long to come up with that one. You are gonna have to do better than that to get under my skin
We sailed over to Garrison Bay for a meetup with a boating group, but I caught a cold and was in bed most of the time. Yesterday was gorgeous out and I slept and was miserable the whole sail home. Lame.
@moonhat bummer… hope you are better now.
I worked… ER is a 24/7/365.25 business…
@chienfou I feel like it’s not said enough about front line healthcare staff - thanks for your service.
Sincerely, a hospital system beancounter who tries to not be too obnoxious for you folks.
@Kawa Thanks for doing your part too. That’s what keeps the lights on. As a small local hospital the ‘beancounters’ serve a vital function. I tell pts all the time “I can give you all the drugs you need but I can’t touch the $$”.
I ate some really good Italian food, not as much as this guy but in the same place. It was my first time in that part of the Bronx and it was fun and good! Was planning to spend the afternoon/evening walking home but got rained on.
So instead, the next day, ate some really good and nostalgic Filipino food then walked to another neighborhood for a new ice cream joint.
A good weekend.
@targaryen I went to see JW3 last week, after not being aware of the other two. I was encouraged to believe that there would be long, lively action sequences and that Keanu Reeves would feature prominently.
Continuing my grim, joyless descent into embittered senescence, I found that although there was rather a lot of Keanu, the action sequences were mostly incomprehensible and enervating, with the exception of the bit where Keanu and his disposable enemy simultaneously ran out of bullets and were forced for just a few moments to regard each other as warm, breathing creatures, alive with the possibility of — oh, never mind, I guess they both have knives or some shit.
I also liked the part where Keanu’s nerdy buddy dorkily adjusted his glasses following a brief shotgun skirmish. In that moment I felt a sting of kinship, a dawning awareness of the — oh shit we’re back to wall-to-wall headshots and knives-to-the-throat bullshit, never mind.
Sigh.
In other news, I made cupcakes this weekend, and also my first try at making sourdough bread. It was pretty good!
@UncleVinny Thanks… you just saved me $10 plus the cost of popcorn!
How’d the bread come out?
@UncleVinny I think we have different definitions of unadulterated awesomeness.
@chienfou not too bad!
@UncleVinny WOW… that is beautiful! I can smell it from here !! Break out the butter and some brie…
@chienfou @UncleVinny Add some raspberry preserves to that brie!!!
@UncleVinny @zinimusprime Oh yeah!
@chienfou @zinimusprime My friend came over and helped me eat one of the loaves, and then the next day I ate the entire other loaf. TONS of butter was consumed, but I never got around to breaking out the brie or anything else. Gonna try again this week, maybe then I’ll pause stuffing my piehole for just long enough to find some jam or other oddments?! Possibly?
@UncleVinnysounds like a plan. Did you do the kneading by hand or use a mixer, breadmaker etc.?
@chienfou @UncleVinny Yeah, definitely try some things. I do it by putting the brie in the microwave until it melts and then put the raspberry preserve on it so it’s all warm and calling out to my belly.
Clicked this thread because I thought the header said: “After a long weekend we stare back at it.”
I fucking had to know what ‘it’ was.
I spent the weekend drinking with friends at their sounds-so-pretentious-but-isn’t lakehouse. Fun times always. Although our host is currently the lake Commodore, Lionel Richie did not make an appearance. “Hello…?”
Then yesterday I erased all the good feels by working a 14 hour day. So, I guess I know what it is.
@gregormehndel
How are the fruit flies doing?
@chienfou Ha. It was a jug of Tito’s. Not so much beer this time.
@gregormehndel LOL…that was actually a nod to your moniker… but maybe a long stretch!
@chienfou Maybe, but I do dream of whirled peas.
Daughter got married near Atlanta… beautiful wedding. Seeing people from all over that I haven’t seen in ages… long continual party then making my way back home and having other daughter and grands visit for the week after wedding! Bliss!!
@lseeber
We did Atlanta a couple of weeks ago for wife’s b-day… including a visit with her sister, a day at six flags with old family friends (our kids grew up together going to six flags for the homeschool days) and a trip to the Dekalb (international) farmer’s market, then Chattabrewchee in West Point on the way home…
@chienfou We were actually just outside of Atlanta. It being a holiday wkend there was NO way I was driving into the city. Went as far as the airport to pick up some guests… that was enough, lol. It was gridlock from Chatanooga thru Atl. Some of the others went to Centennial Park tho. She lives just outside of Atlanta so I get there fairly frequently. Should probably do more stuff than I do. I love going to Ponce City Market tho. Cool place. I haven’t been to 6 flags in ages. But, I just inherited 4 more gorgeous grandsons so, it’s probably in my future!
@lseeber Keep an eye out for their ‘specials’. Last year we bought six flag annual passes for us and our grandkids for barely more than a one day pass at the end of the season. They were good for the rest of 2018 plus 2019,
Gets you into the park, free parking, free access to Whitewater (waterpark north of Atlanta) free access to the other six flags parks in the US, and free companion tix on certain days, plus concession discounts etc. We have really enjoyed it since we don’t feel we have to go from open to close on the days we go to get our $$$ worth.
@chienfou Yeah… I forgot about that. My kids used to get them all the time when they were teens. My son in law is in mgmt for Delta and I think they get some deals there too. Hafta check. Thanks!
i drove 30 minutes to the good butcher shop and was in heaven. then i went home, had an old fashioned, cooked meat from aforementioned butcher, and was in heaven again.
@carl669 Fuck.
@carl669 @gregormehndel That’s probably gonna take more than one old fashioned…
@carl669 @chienfou @gregormehndel he did not say how big the one drink was
@chienfou @gregormehndel @tinamarie1974
I also may have misrepresented how many old fashioneds I had
