About your commute to work ...
1"Leaving home in Detroit at 8 a.m., James Robertson doesn't look like an endurance athlete.
Pudgy of form, shod in heavy work boots, Robertson trudges almost haltingly as he starts another workday.
But as he steps out into the cold, Robertson, 56, is steeled for an Olympic-sized commute. Getting to and from his factory job 23 miles away in Rochester Hills, he'll take a bus partway there and partway home. And he'll also walk an astounding 21 miles.
Five days a week. Monday through Friday."

Inspired and humbled by his determination, my daily commute in SoCal pales in comparison. I'm chipping in too.

My commute is 40 ft. 75 ft if i stop for coffee.
Serious question. How can he be pudgy of form if he walks 21 miles a day? Detour for four dozen donuts?
@Headly Works in a snack cake factory?
What job are you doing for 10 years on 2 hours sleep each night? I imagine he's got a tough commute, but I'm calling shenanigans on some of the details.
@JerseyFrank I see you didn't read the articles, since injection molded plastic is not very safe to eat. Everybody's metabolism is different. As for the hours - polyphasic sleep. He sleeps on the bus rides and there are nights in which he gets a ride, which gets him home much earlier.
@narfcake If you want 3 nails and a couple timbers, just say so.
@JerseyFrank @narfcake I kind of agree. It would be admirable for a few months, but to accept that as the status quo long term is baffling to me. I can't mock it, but I will honestly say that I have NEVER had a job that I liked so much that I would endure that to keep it. Even taking a pay cut and working somewhere closer to home would end up in a long term net gain. I hope they give him fabulous retirement. :/
@narfcake @JerseyFrank While my schedule is nowhere near this crazy, I definitely don't sleep a full night, and I make up for it with 3 hours worth of sleep (total) on the train. Can't complain.
@Mavyn I agree...I don't understand the mentality of not moving because it's "easy to stay".
