My smoothie recipe (as a meal replacement before high-energy outdoor activity):
1/2 banana (frozen is best)
4oz strawberry puree (I use crap from liquor store, but fresh from a juicer is best)
5oz vanilla high-protein ‘shake’ (cold)
1oz (large splash) orange, lemon, or lime juice
10-14 std ice cubes (I use a whole tray of mini cubes)
Add all ingredients into a full-sized blender jar, banana & ice on the bottom. Pulse until ice is crushed, then blend until creamy & smooth. Pour into tall, insulated glass. Enjoy!
Trying to remember what we used to do at work… Definitely kale, mint to sweeten things up, a raw beet or two, cucumber occasionally (whoever said banana was overpowering must not have played with cucumber), some seeds and crap, sometimes a whole apple, sometimes a whole orange or two… they were chunky and not necessarily marketable, but made for a good diversion at work.
Does an Orange Julius count as a smoothie?
@ruouttaurmind It should. It would be the only kind of smoothie I like.
Tequila, Lime Juice, Triple Sec, Ice.(Strawberries optional)
Blend until smooth.
No bananas, unless you want it to taste like banana and nothing else.
@cpierce But… I like bananas!
@cpierce yep. Banana is so overpowering.
@cpierce Use less ripe bananas. Tart and less overpowering.
Made of mostly ice cream…

@2many2no OMG I miss Firefly…
Great smoothies must have a little texture.
… a chocolate milkshake?
… a beer?
… a glass of ice cold water directly from a spring in the Cascade Mountains?
… best with a garnish of 2oz. spiced rum.
All of the above.

…not something I enjoy
Don’t drink 'em.
Heavy on the tequila… Unless it’s breakfast, then just a lot of frozen fruit and a little yogurt. If it will come up a straw it’s too much yogurt

@brhfl Schrute beets are the best.
