I was in Germany for several months as a child. There were great mounds of dirt near the house we were renting, having to do with some excavation, construction, and/or farming. I remember playing “king of the hill” on the dirt. But I only learned that name later. Maybe the other kids were really playing “Mud Wizard.” I must have come home appallingly dirty. I hope it wasn’t some sort of toxic cleanup site!
I think this is the German town they are bulldozing to open a coal mine.
