Ah damn…
@Targaryen It is like this in ALL directions…
@Targaryen but I was close!
@Targaryen I had one smack in the middle of Leeds, UK which was easy to find. Then I had one on the edge of Hungary near Serbia that looked pretty much like that one. I guessed somewhere outside of Moscow. Sometimes there’s just no way of knowing.
So this game is AWESOME. Here is my first drop and final score. I will happily visit the first in Indian, AK
VAN GOGH! MANGO! TANGO! AWESOME!
That was fun!
Definitely addictive.
I did one round on the world map where I was able to get under 1000km on all 5, which surprised me, didn’t think I’d be able to get the right continent for most of them.
Then I did a second round where I realized I could zoom in and ‘drive’ around looking for clues… Was able to get within 100 yards of one in Australia and within 100 miles of all the rest.
Next I did the “Famous Places” map - that was easier and kinda fun to see just how close I could get; best I did was within 76 ft. at the foot of the Petronas Towers (thanks, SimCity, for my being able to recognize that one).
Thanks for posting!
(I hope @JasonToon is ok. )
@DennisG2014 The hard part is once you start moving around looking for clues, the game still wants you to pinpoint the location where it dropped you instead of where you currently are. You can definitely get close but it’s so easy to lose that original spot. Glad you like it!
Love playing that game at work, looks nice and busy though lots of mouse clicking. I usually set it to the U.S. only.
@raccoon81 Grats on your LookSmart trivia win!
@therealjrn thanks! Snuck in on an easy to search one.
I looooove me some Geoguessr. A bunch of us Woot guys once played against Ken Jennings for a potential video! As I recall, the screencapture didn’t work so the video would have just been guys looking at a computer. Still fun!
@JasonToon Whoa, that’s so cool.
Think I did pretty good on my first one.
Tanked my score with this one
@metaphore um, I have many comments for this one but they would likely be censored lol
That is totally fun, thanks! I didn’t do very well but definitely enjoyed it.
Thank you for a new habit!
If you happen to get road signs, it can be like shooting fish in a barrel…
My first one wasn’t even on the right continent, though.
Final tally:
I’d say that one was pretty close.
Getting closer.
@aetris it dropped you in front of an IKEA, didn’t it? Tough break, I hear they are pretty hard to tell apart from one another.
@djslack - clever guess but it dropped me on a snowy road in front of a modest modern house near a bus-stop shed. My guess was poor, though, because the houses would’ve been closer together if it was Canada.
