Yeah, i tried to reason with them that $99+ (or even $99.90+) would be a fairer qualifying amount for that very reason, but they decided $99.99 was their bottom line, which only helped if you bought one item for that amount. Very short-sighted, IMO, if their intention was to move product.
@ircon96 I dunno. I ended up getting suckered into talking myself into buying shit I didn’t want to buy, including the bonus $28 to get over the final few pennies I needed to hit the threshold.
My oldest kid would chastise me for falling prey to the “sunk cost fallacy”. I would explain to him to please shut the fuck up, as much of what I got will eventually be gifts for him…
@shahnm I wasn’t planning on buying anything, & I held firm until the ukeleles popped up. But i only bought 2, one for me & one for my musically-inclined honorary niece, or if she already has one, for an underprivileged kid who wants one from Santa, aka Toys for Tots or similar charity. I was so close, but i didn’t give in! I probably would have if they had changed it to $99+ or $99.90+, though. #stubbornlyirkless
@Kyeh@shahnm Oops, i posted this in the other topic before seeing this one. Here’s a copy:
The mahogany is nice, too bad it was sold out before the Mehrathon. I didn’t love the black, so i ended up getting purple, in the hopes that it’s as dark as it looked in the photo. I don’t think I’d like it as much if it were bright purple, that would definitely look weird, i think. I’d prob have to learn a few Prince songs to make it seem intentional! I checked the Amazon listing that was linked on the product page & my favorite one is the “tattoo” version, but of course they wouldn’t let those go to Meh. It’s about $10 more than the already-inflated Amazon price of our colors. Yeah, hard pass.
@ircon96 Oh but they did move product. People bought a ton more just to get a free irk. The new meh experiment. I hope they decide the ill will it caused for those who bought enough but then irks were sold out will be enough to make this a one time only.
@Kidsandliz Just think how much more they could have moved with that simple change, though. I’m sure I’m not the only one who understands basic math & refused to play their game, not even for an IRK. And you’re right, add to that the people who waited too long because the total was too hard to get to for whatever reason, & that’s a decent quantity of disgruntled customers!
@Kidsandliz Lol, i had no doubt! It makes you wonder, though, how there can be SO many gullible consumers out there for hucksters to target. Such easy pickins!
@ircon96 The total was too hard to get partly because of the 0.99 cent pricing… a diabolical plot to get people to buy more… because of course… sunk costs, bought an irk first, or well… fill in the blank for drinking the koolaid.
@5665150 Each additional x.99-price item purchase knocked another penny off the first .99, so to get down to .93, it needed 6 more .99s for a total of 7 items purchased.
@5665150@werehatrack You left out the part where 6 of those 7 things were things you didn’t want because you were fixated on getting that irk for “free”.
Nice. You bought 3 items today. Maybe there will be something for a dollar at the end.
@5665150 ITYM “bought 7 items today”
@5665150 @werehatrack
It’s also possible that I don’t math.
Husband is getting a car vac for Chanukah now
The cheapest so far are around $15.

I was at 99.96, lol!
I bought one of the little tablet toys for one of my nephews to get me over the threshold.
I think it was 12.99…
I am glad somebody found stuff to buy. In a buying mood but meh is not working with me here.

Meh wins.

@shahnm
@ircon96 So what color did you get?

@ircon96 well yes I understand basic math as well. Sigh.

Is there a math book for me to buy?

The things I wanted to buy were all sold out. Stupid job.
$0
Total cost of things I wanted to buy here. I did spend a couple of hundred elsewhere. At this point my VMP payment is a charitable contribution.
@cinoclav thanks for that. Having employment is fun.
@mandirose Well, it IS giving day.
@cinoclav
You have been suckered - oh wait so have I.They are not a charity. No tax deduction for you./showme something that costs 7 cents
@mediocrebot I dunno, that looks like more than 7/10 to me.
@goodjuju @mediocrebot
If that truly came out of a US mint (in small qunatities) it would be worth a fortune…
