@yakkoTDI I’ve seen people who combine candy corn & peanuts…Perhaps we should (for science) try Love, Corn & Candy Corn?
/showme Enticing bowl of candy corn and Love Corn snacks
@PhysAssist Nope. CornNuts were originally made from the massive Cuzco variety of corn, but they swapped to a Cuzco hybrid with a less monstrous kernel later on. These are a more conventional type, and not as big as Corn Nuts. They’re still whole kernels, deep-fried, and more aggressively crunchy than corn chips or tortilla chips. In my experience, absent the flavor coating, they are bland to the point of being sub-meh. I had free samples of two of their other flavors, and never went back to buy any.
@llangley@MrGoodGuy actually, the packaging I received did not have any typos. Maybe it was just a true surplus. There is a qr code on the individual bags to enter into a contest. I thought maybe the contest had run it’s course but that was not the case either.
@skelex Customers say
Customers find these corn chips delicious, not too salty, and appreciate their crunchy texture that’s softer on teeth than regular corn nuts. The snacks come in perfect single-serving bags, and customers consider them healthier than most snacks, with one noting they’re a great alternative to chips or crackers. While some customers find them fresh, others report receiving stale products, and opinions on value for money are divided between those who find them worth the price and those who consider them overpriced.
@skelex I’ve had the regular ones (blue pack) before. They’re just like dried/dehydrated corn… crunchy but definitely not gonna break a tooth. I really enjoy them!
@skelex these are a light version of corn-nuts. Honestly super overpriced, even at Meh price for what you get. Super small portions, sea salt are the only tolerable ones. Hard pass…
I know people are wondering who is keeping Arby’s in business but I want to know who is eating corn nuts and keeping this company is business . Over 100 orders since 11 pm. Why do people like these things?
@mehrrychristmas these aren’t corn nuts. They’re essentially salted dehydrated corn, and I like them. Probably gonna get them. But then again, I also like Arby’s, so you probably shouldn’t take my word for it…
@diamonds215chic@ergomeh@mehrrychristmas
Just fixed a “street corn salad” kit from Aldi last night for supper. I suspect this morning I could have deactivated corn that came with it is very similar to this. And they were super tasty. THAT being said, not sure I really want 84 of these.
I’ve had several varieties of this including salt & vinegar and cheese (which I think was vegan flavoring).
I’ve enjoyed them! One snack pack is a good crunchy salty snack size for me. When I have the larger bag it lasts for days because, while not as hard as corn nuts, my mouth gets tired of chewing.
I did have one or two snack size bags that were bad/stale - which meant they’d gotten soft.
This stuff is horrible. I bought a bunch of it (original flavor?) some years ago and it was like putting a handful of nuts and bolts in your mouth. I put it out for the hungry wild birds in our backyard to eat and they wouldn’t touch it. Through many packs of it away.
@Sarisin Smell check doesn’t help with homonyms or inappropriate word choice. Threw not through passes the sniff test unless you threw them through something.
I suppose that’s a competitive clearance price. Plenty of snacks @ Costco, Albertsons/Vons, Ralphs/Kroger(/sis companies), etc., that are Non-GMO Project Verified &/or Certified Gluten Free that are delicious & offered for similar or cheaper unit pricing. Corn-, potato-, or other based.
@ardycake It has been hypothesized that this was a proofreading fail; given what the other label has as the first ingredient, that was almost certainly supposed to have been non-GMO corn.
These arrived way ahead of schedule today. The sour cream and onion flavor is very mild. I’ll add them to the trick or treat baggies and save a few for myself
Crap, just tried these and yeah, they’re stale. Not totally inediblely stale, but not quite right stale. Was going to include them with gifts, but I don’t know. Food pantry maybe, but is that uncool?

@ironcheftoni and generally speaking pretty yummy
@ironcheftoni Give some Love to kids? Is that allowed? Doesn’t that invite trouble nowadays?
@ironcheftoni @phendrick-not really,… 🫣 Pedophiles feel emboldened nowadays
Nice writeup.
@agnesnutter
But aren’t they just the snack formerly known as Corn Nuts?

@mediocrebot That’s cheating, bot.
IT’S CORN!!!
@MrGoodGuy

is it??
@llangley
“Made with just three simple ingredients, these crunchy CORN SNACKS are gluten-free, non-GMO, and only 90 calories per pack”.
That’s false advertising! I’mma contact my lawyer!
@llangley @MrGoodGuy
I wonder if that was supposed to read non-GMO corn… If not, then, yeah, that’s RADICALLY misleading.
@llangley @MrGoodGuy maybe it’s a misprint, meant to be non-GMO corn
@llangley @MrGoodGuy @Ten9Eight and if it was a misprint that could explain why it got here
@llangley @MrGoodGuy actually, the packaging I received did not have any typos. Maybe it was just a true surplus. There is a qr code on the individual bags to enter into a contest. I thought maybe the contest had run it’s course but that was not the case either.

Does anyone know if these are regular crunchy, or corn nuts style break a tooth off because you’re eating rocks crunchy?

@skelex I bought the regular ones a few years ago. They were definitely not crack-your-teeth hard like Corn Nuts.
They also started to taste rancid a couple of months past the Best Buy date. Yeah, I know, but this is the first time that’s happened to me.
@skelex these are a light version of corn-nuts. Honestly super overpriced, even at Meh price for what you get. Super small portions, sea salt are the only tolerable ones. Hard pass…

@Sarisin they’re very crunchy, not everyone may like that. I do, but I also find that limits my intake as my jaw gets tired.
Of course, I like regular corn nuts too. And extra crunchy peanuts.

@ironcheftoni I might try the SC&O if I get a chance. The spicy version I tried was all heat and nastyness, badly balanced and very much of an “ugh!”
Got these today and they are absolutely disgusting. These are getting donated.
Received mine today. 84 packs of stale corn nuts. Tastes like its been sitting on the shelves for years. Can’t find a date code. Horrible.
Agree with the stale comment. Not sure what I’ll do with these. Sigh.
