Costco sold some great “wagyu” jerky for an all too brief time a few months back. Wagyu jerky sounds like a bad punchline, and is usually absurdly priced, but it was worth trying at Costco’s price, and I was pleasantly surprised.

This looked great until I saw the sugar. 10g sugar in a 64g bag is 16% sugar by weight. Sixteen percent sugar!? It’s dried meat… whatever happened to a bit of salt, spice, some herbs… Sixteen percent sugar is more than Coke!
And even if you just have one small 2.2oz bag, 10g is the same amount of sugar in a Reese’s cup… that’s just too sweet.
I understand the organic stance, but personally it isn’t a driver of my food purchases. Looking at the 2.25oz size and price per ounce there are cheaper options elsewhere that include shipping. I love food items on Meh, but this one is meh

@Dave LOL Really? DMing people who bought jerky back in 2020 to tell them there’s more of a totally different kind is… well, a choice, but more likely to turn me off as a consumer than make me buy more.
I make my own beef jerky. I get whatever lean beef my butcher has on sale, let it marinade with some soy sauce, pepper, garlic powder, etc, for a day or so (Penzey’s montreal seasoning blend is great for it!) and then thin slice it with a mandolin. Pop that in the dehydrator for ~4-6 hours, depending how humid the weather is, and it’s done. (Granted, I store it in the fridge just to be extra safe).

On this one I figured people who liked jerky 4 years ago probably still do, and that was the closest we had to this sort of grass-fed style. But it’s fair to say it is just too jarring to get a note for something from that long ago.
