@yakkoTDI I just picked up the variety pack. More expensive at 50¢ per vs 40¢ here, but that I think the extra cost is worth not getting sick of a single flavor.
@pikelet And the empty tubes are the perfect size for storing quarters.
@goldnectar I buy the 8 pack of tubes that contain 10 each for around $32. Comes out to around $0.40 per tablet. As a bonus I get tubes I can repurpose for something one day.
@netbucks I haven’t tried these, but they’re good enough for costco to sell them. On costco’s site they go for about $1/packet, probably less in store but I’m not sure by how much.
@eightyd@netbucks Costco sells the 30 pack for $28.99 in store. They are about to go on sale for $20.99 (probably limited flavors). $19.99 for 50 is a much better deal! Also, I’ve never seen them cheaper on Amazon than the regular price at Costco.
Be careful with the date listed in the product. Says Best Buy 07/28/24 meaning after that product is considered expired period. I’ve been duped by MEH clearly when they sold biscoff dip sticks in April and kept arguing from meh customer service which was non existent.
No local retailer or online retailer would truly sell product after the date product expires. But MEH doesn’t seem to follow that path.
@bobogobo Meh has been selling past sell by dates for years now, so it’s not like their first time.
That doesn’t mean they automatically go bad and try to poison you after the indicated date.
And its “Best By”, not “Best Buy”.
This isn’t that electronics and appliance store.
@bobogobo Whenever they sell products that are past their best-by date, they’re always very clear about it.
Besides, I also bought those Biscoff snacks, and they taste perfectly good to this day. They don’t expire on that date, they just aren’t guaranteed by the manufacturer after that date.
For many types of product (I would guess including these), they’re good for years after the best by date.
@pixelated broh! It was just a typo. Best by! U happy now? I still stick my ground no well known retailer would sell product beyond their expiration or so called “best by” date.
@bobogobo well of course they wouldn’t; they’re a big corporation who won’t deal with the red tape that involves customer satisfaction
Smaller mom & pop shops will sell “day old bagels” or “yesterday’s meat” or “ham shreds” on the cheap; it is scraping the bottom of the barrel for revenue, but it reduces food waste, is a huge savings to the consumer, and while “caveat emptor” you the consumer are balancing out the guaranteed savings for the potential loss of quality. (You sound like you only shop at large chain supermarkets.)
Why else do people buy generic brands over big brands? Savings!
@bobogobo@troy Yeah I don’t think people understand the level of sanitation and also preservatives in some cases for packaged food products. I mean there was the legendary story of 20-year-old twinkies. So yeah if you don’t want to buy it, then don’t buy.
I recently had a sister-in-law visit and I swear she was doing the “Expired Expired Expired” thing from the TV Ad. Throwing away lots — I was able to intercept a few choice items. Yeah it’s true I did need some cleanup but the worst was the sense of ridicule and judgement I got from it. Funniest thing is I’ve been in her house many times and there is lots of questionable stuff there too.
EDIT but on that topic it would be great if this site offered smaller quantities on many of these food items. There have been a lot of products I would like to try in a $5-$10 quantity, but when only given a choice of 16-36 packs of something, I’ll often resist.
@bobogobo@pmarin Everyone has a different threshold. I had an old roommate of a friend toss out any foodstuffs a day past the sell-by date, but would still apply month-old makeup or year-old Motrin.
@bobogobo Never shop at a campground store in any western state, then. Particularly not in May or June, when they’ve just opened up for the season. You’ll be lucky to find anything that’s not from the previous year, and lots of it will have gone out of date in the meantime.Don’t like it? Don’t buy it. The nearest real grocery store may only be 130 miles away…
@bobogobo This is why I purchase all of my Halloween candy after Halloween for the discounts, throw it in my basement, and normally hand it out 5-10 years after I bought it. Kids never look at the dates, and I’ve never heard of anyone in the neighborhood getting sick.
@bobogobo “Best Buy” typo on
TWO different products? Perfect! You definitely have to have spell check turned on to avoid such grammatical errors.
You are also free to leave Meh any time, if you don’t approve of them selling food past the sell by date.
It would help Meh a lot to reduce the number of casual whiners.
@pixelated who the hell you to tell me to leave Meh broh? Just stay in your lane and relax. Stop being a bully & behind the scene worker for Meh! You are the one making mountain out of a mole.
I used to get these at Costco; the lemon lime is good, I’ve never had the other one. I stopped getting these as I don’t like the 11 grams of cane sugar. They also make a sugar free flavor. The price here is great if the sugar doesn’t concern you.
I love the write ups, really I come to Meh daily to read them, and on occasion buy something.
But this one turned me off from the start! Running in winter?! Running in humid summer!!! Running!!! No, no, and no. There is no good run. And I’m pretty sure if being chased I still wouldn’t run: I’m so slow whoever/whatever is going to catch me. So then I have to fight. Why go into the fight exhausted from running?
For anyone curious, I just checked the date on a box I bought a few months ago from Wally-world.
Best by of February 2026. So the date is about two years after manufacturing.
I keep some in an emergency bag. Good for survival. Works ok for hang overs. Not drinking works better. This and a bit of Bob mills sodium bicarbonate works well before a run. I hate running but I’m pretending to be David Goggins. “Stay hard!”
I ve had sample of these before
They are good. The b vitamins are a winner for me.
Yeah,sugar and stevia is one ingredient,stevia,too many. Stevia leaves an aftertaste. Im currently ‘unhoused’ and these are so handy to have. I got 1 of each flavor.
Cheers
I don’t mind the Stevia aftertaste; as a workout or meal/hangover supplement, these are fine. But this is not to take with alcohol or for when you’re sick; the combo sugar-salt-stevia may make you more nauseous which leads to negative hydration.
I wish these would have been packaged and shipped a little nicer. They were shipped loose in a bubble mailer. A few broke open and dissolved all over the rest. It was a sticky mess.

I think I will stick with my Nuun tablets.
@yakkoTDI Way less sugar, way more travel friendly, and way less non-recyclable packaging. Nuum is the best for sure
@yakkoTDI I just picked up the variety pack. More expensive at 50¢ per vs 40¢ here, but that I think the extra cost is worth not getting sick of a single flavor.

So—-these are just a generic powdered Gatorade mix?
@netbucks Not generic - pretty fancy, actually.
@netbucks I haven’t tried these, but they’re good enough for costco to sell them. On costco’s site they go for about $1/packet, probably less in store but I’m not sure by how much.
@netbucks definitely way better than gatorade… One packet of those equals to 2 of the big gatorade bottles
@eightyd @netbucks Costco sells the 30 pack for $28.99 in store. They are about to go on sale for $20.99 (probably limited flavors). $19.99 for 50 is a much better deal! Also, I’ve never seen them cheaper on Amazon than the regular price at Costco.
@netbucks But sweetened with stevia.

Well, I suppose it would be better than Solid I.V.
@Bumplepimp Well said.
These are fantastic for hydrating during summer sports. Full price they’re expensive, but the sales are good.

@mediocrebot huh didn’t know that.

@monkeyman0510 The “/buy” command does not work in replies.

@thru_hiker for workouts you need the sugar.
If you’re just drinking it during the day or whatever, well, it’s a still lot of salt, but probably go with the sugar free version.
@thru_hiker Too much sugar! I buy the sugar-free version of these from Costco! I do get enough good sugar from food and fruit throughout the day…!
Golden Cherry is actually my preferred flavor of these, so this works out great for me.
I’m down for some lemon lime. The golden cherry gives me a nasty aftertaste.
