Ingredients: BEEF AND PORK, MECHANICALLY SEPARATED CHICKEN, WATER, FLAVORS, CONTAINS 2% OR LESS OF SALT, SOY PROTEIN ISOLATE, CORN SYRUP, RICE BRAN, DEXTROSE, FRUCTOSE, REFINER’S SYRUP, SMOKE FLAVOR, HYDROLYZED SOY PROTEIN, MOLASSES, PAPRIKA (COLOR), PAPRIKA EXTRACT (COLOR), LACTIC ACID STARTER CULTURE, SODIUM NITRITE, SAFFLOWER OIL, CASING (CARAMEL, RED 3, ANNATTO). CONTAINS: SOY
This is not for me. I have tried to reduce sweeteners of all types from my diet.
These things are 5% sugar. The marketing department maximized sugar content while limiting each individual version of sugar to less than 2% by using 5 different kinds: corn syrup, dextrose, fructose, refiner’s syrup, and molasses.
@PooltoyWolf Youre not missing out anyways they aren’t that great and the price the posted is no deal in fact you could go to a local butcher or meat shop in you’re area and buy fresh ones or have them made.
The little shop I go too make and package their own beef/jerky & cheese fresh daily and the flavors they offer are amazing which has ruined any overprocessed beef & cheese sticks and jerky for me.
If you don’t have one locally just look online a lot of these places now ships stuff like this
@PooltoyWolf@ThyProphet
I don’t personally eat meat sticks on the regular but it’s definitely nice to learn I can get freshly made ones from a local butcher or online. They’d make good gifts for a few people I know so thanks for enlightening me!
@PooltoyWolf Same, I just can’t do it. It’s getting to the point where it can be hard to find a non-spicy option for some foods. One example: I was excited when Qdoba started having brisket. It bumped my choices up to two. Woo hoo!
Last time I was in, they had changed the recipe to spicy. I’m back to one non-spicy meat–carnitas (pulled pork). I like it, but I would like some other options. I don’t know what people who don’t eat pork or spicy food do. I’ve decided I need to send the company a strongly worded letter, uh, email.
@awk those Baja sticks have a nice flavor, but they’re kinda mealy and dry. Jack Links usually has pretty decent taste AND texture. I’m gonna give there a go and save the Baja’s for unwelcome guests.
@Snarf I agree, the texture isn’t great with those. I usually eat them with some soft cheese. But I can’t justify another $44 worth of spicy meat tubes right now.
@joeywolf Very, I would say, for a meat stick. A bit shy of Tabasco sauce, perhaps? Tasty, but definitely need to keep a drink handy and heartburn is practically guaranteed.
@joeywolf They are VERY hot! If you like cayenne sauce, nope. If you’re a fan of using ghost peppers, then, yeah. I love spicy/hot, but these will burn you from front to end, IYKWIM.
I bought these last time. They taste yummy but I tried 3 on 3 different days and the next day I was running to the bathroom. For me they work better than prunes…
Read the title as “Do the Meth” which was a little more concerning, but then again there might be some correlation between that and buying discount jerky.
too spicy for mediocrebot
prompt: extra large spicy meat tube, banana for scale
hopefully not a snapshot of the manufacturing process
@awk That was Bill, he was one of the extruding machine operators. I’m pretty sure they threw out that batch. Anyway, RIP dude.
@awk @ircon96 Oh, that’s horrifying!
@awk @ircon96 @Kyeh
I know right, we really didn’t need to see a visual of what goes into our meat sticks!
@awk That is so cool! I love that mash-up!
For what it’s worth, did some math and this comes out to $6.67 per pound.
@zxinfinity …which is really cheap, for meat sticks.
@joeywolf @zxinfinity But is it cheap for “meat” sticks?

@hamjudo
Good job on the math! I saw your post and though, “That can’t be right.”
Then I checked and got the same answer you did.
@hamjudo I stopped at mechanically separated chicken.
@hamjudo Sneaky!
Meh again!
Tsk, tsk - let’s hear it for proper spelling here!
@Kyeh “Here here”!
(it’s “hear hear” if anyone is interested)
@Kyeh @robson Their, they’re, now, mustn’t let the misusage’s get too ewe.
These are really hot and addictive. My stomach always hurts the next day which is just a good reminder to grab another.
@5665150 So, you’re saying you recommend it for fellow mehsochists?
@ircon96 you guys are so smart. Why yes, I do. Eat a few and it’s a quite enjoyable painful meehl
@5665150
Spicy only? I’m out!
@PooltoyWolf You are the weakest (Jack) link. Goodbye!
@kyanostiger That one was so terrible, it made me chuckle.

@ThyProphet Thanks for the reply, though I don’t care enough about meat sticks to seek them out. Heh

Do not invoke the name of JERKY without offering JERKY.
Stop waving your meat in my face, I’m still working through the Baja sticks!

Meh…this isn’t the wine I was looking for.
@PHRoG But is this the whine you were expecting?
@ircon96
Have very little hope this far into December.
XXL exp date!
@somf69 Looks more XXS to me. (eXtra eXtra Short)
Eh, that’s a spicy extruded meatball.
@mcanavino Mama mia, at’sa spicy meat-sticka! [plop plop fizz]
(Yes, I’m ancient,.)
Anyone know if these have good snap and texture? I hate it when they’re like baby food pate inside.

Anyone know just how hot these really are?

Who doesn’t like some large hot meat in their mouth?
@robson Didn’t have to wait long for this
@PooltoyWolf Nope!
@PooltoyWolf @robson Not long enough, IMO.
@robson @werehatrack Hmm?
Oddly, I don’t feel good about buying discount jerky from a seedy website. I prefer seedy gas stations.
Wild Hot XX-Large Snack is what your mom called it last night while we were dooooooing it!!

My 17 year old spicy-loving son mowed through one of the meh-ra-thorn boxes (24) of these in under a week. He says he would like more.
Aw, why not?
