@troy I bought one of the vegan ones but I was curious why I couldn’t select “Chocolate Brownie” as an option except in the variety pack. Was that a mistake in the setup or done that way purposely?
That is a great movie clip, RIP…
Vegetarian tend to be fat anyway, these bars no different ; not exactly the healthiest stuff they consume!
Let’s do chicken flavored veggie bars!
@phendrick a dead one . Maybe bugs. After all you are allowed to have dead bugs in food. “The government’s official Defect Levels Handbook notes an allowed ratio of 30 insect fragments per 100 grams of yummy spreadable. That amounts to approximately 238 fragments in an average (28-ounce) jar of peanut butter. Unfortunately, it happens every day, so there’s no need to call your local pest control specialist.”
“…Apple Cinnamon & Chocolate Brownie are not vegan, as they are made with grass-fed whey…”
Well, Dang! How do you feed grass to whey? I can hardly get mine to eat anything. Maybe I should get some different whey as mine is whey-2-picky. Ya think?
Flavors are enticing, but a quick comparison of Costco’s protein bar shows that BodyBar is smaller in size and has less protein per ounce. BodyBar is also higher in sugar and calories even with its smaller size. BodyBar at meh is .53 cents per oz, and Costco’s bar is .33 oz per oz. Never mind.
@MarkML Are the ones at Costco gluten-free, oat-free, and vegan? Also, some people need additional fiber in their diet so not all is necessary to be protein.
@zmorri200 Strawberry Almond & Sweet Cocoa are made with a vegan pumpkin, flax & sunflower protein mix
Apple Cinnamon & Chocolate Brownie are not vegan, as they are made with grass-fed whey
@Jaicienil on the bodybar site these have rave reviews, but that has to be tempered with the fact that these are the reviews that they kept on their own site and that they are left by people who went to a protein bar site and ordered protein bars specifically. So they might be great protein bars but underwhelming to people who also eat other things. Seemed worth a shot to me.
@caffeineguy For all that the idiotic Prop65 warning accomplishes, they might as well just say right up front that the whole damn state causes cancer. They should just post a Prop65 warning at every point of entry and be done with it. Without meaningful details, the “warning” is just a way to sell more antianxiety drugs.
@caffeineguy@werehatrack People in California on anxiety drugs? Who would have thought? (In fairness I was born in California but escaped).
The Champion brand sunglasses I bought on Sidedeal came in yesterday and had the CA Prop 65 label on them. Almost any plastic part automatically gets that. And since that covers the wires on power cords, almost anything with a wire or power cord gets it as well.
Meanwhile big-ag monoculture thrives and big-pharma makes sure everyone keeps needing anxiety drugs.
Yeah. Sold out at 1:20 but pretended to save some for 4:00 so I could waste my time. Glad I set an alarm and pulled over to check. Just to feel the “Gotcha”
@caffeineguy oh no!!! I’m diabetic, so thought these might be a treat I could enjoy. The comments hint that is not truly the case. Yikes. When bad luck turns out to be good luck!
I had it in my cart , went to check out and all gone wth ? !! Then said sorry will sell again at 4pm ET and never opened up again . Shows zero sales then so basically sold out and did not stop to reopen to members .
The bars are not tasty and definitely not worth even the lower price Meh offered them at. They are very chewy and remind me of the earliest protein bars. The ones before they discovered that such bars can, in fact, have good flavor. That is, these don’t taste good at all and are kind of sticky have a texture like solidified baby food once you chew them a bit. The bars are tiny but dense in the hand. The taste is not good. The favor is only vaguely like what they claim to be (for example, very little Apple Cinnamon flavor). The bars are very oily and have a strong, almost off oily taste.
I regret buying these so very much. Meh, you definitely need to put these in your next IRK. I’ll happily ship you the rest of mine, as I won’t be eating them.
Pretty terrible taste; plus, when i opened the box of chocolate brownie bars, they were leaking, all bars covered in oil, box saturated, etc. seems like their packaging machine wasn’t sealing them right or something. don’t see any punctures
@caffeineguy when I went to grab a bar for breakfast today I noticed my brownie box had weird stains on it. Seems my brownie bars have developed an oil leak of their own. As far as I know they were fine (well, not leaking oil) last week.
They aren’t gawd awful, but they aren’t good either. They have a consistency like bad fudge if you’re being charitable or tar if you’re not. So far, none of the three flavors we’ve tried has earned a second date.
We’re thinking of donating them to a local food bank, but that seems unnecessarily cruel.
Agree with others - these are not good at all. I am very forgiving of protein bar flavors, and have been known to eat bars that others won’t touch. These have a chemical taste, much like if they’d been soaked in cleaning supplies. Not quite windex, but definitely in that vein of household cleansers.
Still one flavor to try, but I foresee 36 bars going uneaten.
@jwhite6114 The cocoa-flavored ones are the worst tasting things, ever! The apple cinnamon and strawberry ones are okay, but you basically should assume you’ll be throwing away half of the bars.
@djslack Yeah-- I’m still hoping for a Halloween suitable item to come up, those individual stroopwafels were a big hit, as were hundreds of fidget spinners.
@djslack To complete my reviews: my mistake was thinking that the vegan ones would not be as good, and my worst mistake was starting with (or even wanting) the chocolate brownie flavor. It’s probably the worst choice, but it was the most enticing.
Strawberry Almond is the best. I mean for a protein bar–in the scope of all snacks it’s like maybe a 6 to 6.5 out of 10. In the scope of things made with no chemicals and added sugar, that’s a pretty good effort. Sweet Cocoa is also pretty decent. So the vegan options are actually far better tasting to me than the whey protein flavors.
Also in general if I have one of these for breakfast at my desk, I’m good for the morning. That’s not always the case with the other snacks I have around.
@djslack I’ve never eaten a turd before, but when I bit into their mocha-flavored bar, I immediately thought about that scene in Things to do in Denver When You’re Dead when Critical Bill describes eating the dog turd.
“…spongy.”
@djslack@jwhite6114@lordkalvan sorry for the dissatisfaction – I tried every one of these prior to purchasing, and thought they tasted on-par with a healthy protein bar considering the whey/vegan protein, fiber, and lack of added sugars or sweeteners. I thought they were palatable and kept me satiated through the morning.
@troy Thanks for the reply and glad to hear it wasn’t a blind purchase. You may have tasted more protein bars than I have, and have a better sense of what is “on-par”.
For me, though, this is the first bar I have tried to which I would say, “will not eat, again”.
@troy thank you. I will say they do work as an all morning breakfast, and taste is certainly a personal preference. And I really appreciate that you care and came back to share this!
I also like that they are healthy, trying to do better in that regard. But the bodybar user who reviewed these on their website and said that her husband thought the brownie bars were actually real brownies is what sold me on trying them. And all I have to say is that doesn’t say a lot for her baking abilities:)
Yeah-- The chocolate brownie bars are pretty terrible- I’ve tried to give them to other health conscious people and everyone has a hard time making it through. The strawberry ones are tolerable; Haven’t tried the other 2 flavors yet.
this is not a bar, this is a blob of extruded fruit paste in a wrapper. Impossible to eat without getting your hands sticky. The taste isn’t terrible (apple ones), but definitely would not buy again

I sell the non vegan body bars out of my trunk.
@yakkoTDI Are your bars precooked, smoked, or raw?
@Kidsandliz I have an extensive collection of offerings.
How can these be vegan and contain collagen at the same time?
@cengland0 Only two of the flavors are vegan – Strawberry Almond & Sweet Cocoa. I clarified a bit
@troy I see the update you made. Thanks. I am both vegetarian and gluten-free so I was excited to see a product I can eat – at least 2 of 4.
@troy I bought one of the vegan ones but I was curious why I couldn’t select “Chocolate Brownie” as an option except in the variety pack. Was that a mistake in the setup or done that way purposely?
@cengland0 It was purposeful – we have the smallest amount of chocolate brownie so we devoted all of those to the variety
Food again?
@stinks
That is a great movie clip, RIP…
Vegetarian tend to be fat anyway, these bars no different ; not exactly the healthiest stuff they consume!
Let’s do chicken flavored veggie bars!
These make really shitty margaritas.
Do I want a product that’s one letter away from a Body Bag?
@awk Yes you do!
/giphy body bag
@awk Well if they came out of @yakkoTDI’s trunk maybe that’s why they are one letter away from that. You get the bar and not the bag.
If it’s vegan, exactly what kind of body is in this “body” bar?
@phendrick a dead one . Maybe bugs. After all you are allowed to have dead bugs in food. “The government’s official Defect Levels Handbook notes an allowed ratio of 30 insect fragments per 100 grams of yummy spreadable. That amounts to approximately 238 fragments in an average (28-ounce) jar of peanut butter. Unfortunately, it happens every day, so there’s no need to call your local pest control specialist.”
Should I cancel? I got a very ominous order number:
@caoyanwei @phendrick Don’t tell him what’s in Soylent Green.
@phendrick Uh oh! This could be really shitty.
@phendrick @yakkoTDI I hope you have health insurance.
@Kidsandliz @yakkoTDI I keep it specifically for when I order “food” products from Meh or SideDeal.
@phendrick @yakkoTDI
“…Apple Cinnamon & Chocolate Brownie are not vegan, as they are made with grass-fed whey…”
Well, Dang! How do you feed grass to whey? I can hardly get mine to eat anything. Maybe I should get some different whey as mine is whey-2-picky. Ya think?
@Jackinga Yeah. It’s the wrong whey.
@Jackinga No Whey! Save the Kurds!
BodyBar
Are these soap or snacks or exercise equipment or a meat market?
@mehcuda67 Yes.
@mehcuda67 @yakkoTDI And a floor wax and dessert topping.
Ummm… I believe this is a more ominous order phrase:
/giphy Chris Rock I prefer syrup
I don’t think I want these if they in any way resemble eaten ass. There’s a time and place, ofc, but that time and place isn’t my morning snack.
Also, the “Oh God, what did I just do?” button has never felt more appropriate.
@cengland0 @MarkML Good points. Additional fiber can help your GI bacteria, which would offset the extra calories.
One of the ingredients is grass-fed collagen peptides. This is vegan?
@zmorri200 Strawberry Almond & Sweet Cocoa are made with a vegan pumpkin, flax & sunflower protein mix
Apple Cinnamon & Chocolate Brownie are not vegan, as they are made with grass-fed whey
@zmorri200 I asked the same question last night, it’s the second comment, and answered by an employee. https://meh.com/forum/topics/40-pack-bodybar-vegan-snack-bars#64bca685d7b4f757a5338648
Did I miss the listing for nutritional facts, like fat, fiber, protein, etc. or wasn’t there any?
@PhysAssist You can see them beginning with the 6th image.
@cengland0 Hi,
Thanks, I thought I had cycled through the images, but I didn’t see this.
I appreciate the help!
But how do they taste???
@Jaicienil on the bodybar site these have rave reviews, but that has to be tempered with the fact that these are the reviews that they kept on their own site and that they are left by people who went to a protein bar site and ordered protein bars specifically. So they might be great protein bars but underwhelming to people who also eat other things. Seemed worth a shot to me.
In case you’re not farting enough already!
@twfme57
We’ll just gloss over the fact that these may cause cancer in California, but at least they’re not expired.
@caffeineguy don’t eat them in CA and you’re safe
@caffeineguy For all that the idiotic Prop65 warning accomplishes, they might as well just say right up front that the whole damn state causes cancer. They should just post a Prop65 warning at every point of entry and be done with it. Without meaningful details, the “warning” is just a way to sell more antianxiety drugs.

Virginia doesn’t feel they’re a carcinogenic risk (they’re way too busy protecting us from CBD anyway). In for a combo pack!
The milk in the bread is not vegan. So sorry PBJ sandwiches don’t count.
@miniskunk Not all bread is made with milk, though.
Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches are vegan. No they are not, All three are cooked and therefore not vegan.
@clarion47 Vegan is not the same as raw food. Vegan just means no animal products.
Huh, how long since there was a sellout? And early in the day too.
@blaineg Huh! They did sell out those sponges the other day.
Oh - they only had 368 orders available!
So, after a morning sellout, does everyone just go home?
@goldnectar But I am home.
@blaineg @goldnectar … been there for years…
You mean you guys go out???
@blaineg @goldnectar @pmarin “Out”? Is that a thing again?
WTH? Waited for 4:00 pm est no bars?
Yeah. Sold out at 1:20 but pretended to save some for 4:00 so I could waste my time. Glad I set an alarm and pulled over to check. Just to feel the “Gotcha”
@tarkshark If you really need some, there’s several of us that’d be happy to send 'em your way. Otherwise, you dodged a big turd
They taste like rancid coconut oil.
The bars are not tasty and definitely not worth even the lower price Meh offered them at. They are very chewy and remind me of the earliest protein bars. @mehric
What mehric said. Revolting.
Pretty terrible taste; plus, when i opened the box of chocolate brownie bars, they were leaking, all bars covered in oil, box saturated, etc. seems like their packaging machine wasn’t sealing them right or something. don’t see any punctures
@caffeineguy Same with the oil leak.
@caffeineguy when I went to grab a bar for breakfast today I noticed my brownie box had weird stains on it. Seems my brownie bars have developed an oil leak of their own. As far as I know they were fine (well, not leaking oil) last week.
The good news is today is trash day.
Tried a “sweet cocoa” that was neither sweet nor cocoa flavored. Just very bland and flavorless.
If these are in a future “Instant Regret” kit, then the moniker will truly live up to its name.
@tombroadcaster I’m not sure if flavorless is the right term-- they’ve got flavor, just not any good flavor
@caffeineguy I can’t even describe what the sweet cocoa flavor even tasted like, but yeah it was…something.
@LordKalvan You would probably discover that the food banks wouldn’t accept them, because of the stale date issue. But it does not hurt to ask.
@LordKalvan @werehatrack
They’re still technically “okay” so if you donate them before October they might accept them.
Agree with others - these are not good at all. I am very forgiving of protein bar flavors, and have been known to eat bars that others won’t touch. Next time I will listen to my order number more carefully… Eaten ass is not far off the mark.
Food stuff on Meh is really a gamble I should quit taking. But the wins are so good - Samyang and stroopwafels.
@djslack Either my taste buds are getting used to the abuse or the strawberry almond ones aren’t half bad. That was today’s flavor - one more to try.
Still, based on the first two I’ve tried my disappointment has been immeasurable and my day has been ruined each time I’ve dated eat one of these.
I guess tomorrow we’ll find out if they’re batting. 500
@djslack Yeah-- I’m still hoping for a Halloween suitable item to come up, those individual stroopwafels were a big hit, as were hundreds of fidget spinners.
