Um, let’s just all agree that the team at Meh HQ is trolling us during COVID-19. Back to SNL. Interestingly, this episode has more shelf life than anything you actually store in these jars.
@mehcuda67 they can’t advertise this because people would think it’s perpetual motion or something. But I hear on the DL that they can keep things lukewarm indefinitely*.
* - Not valid for actual Lukes. Offer void on Hoth and some other planets.
I have several Primula items for tea & coffee & it’s decent quality stuff. If I had any actual use for these & if they weren’t in stupid multi color packs I’d probably get them.
@mehcuda67 The Zon Q&A for another one of their products says the copper is in the coloring on the outside.
Pure metallic copper has antimicrobial properties. The marketing department can imply that the product is antimicrobial, without explicitly saying that. If they actually claimed antimicrobial properties, then they could face legal penalties, because it might not be an accurate statement.
Metallic copper tends to react with the environment and turn green like the statue of liberty, thus it is often under a protective coating. This removes any benefit.
@arfdawg@mehcuda67@RedOak but at 16oz thats too small to be useful without a pour spout. Most thermoses have a spout so that you can remove the liquid without opening it and a cup to drink out of.
@Chronicle@mehcuda67@RedOak This model is not for drinking water or coffee so it’s not necessary to have a spot. It’s a round seal and you use a spoon if there’s soup or stew in there. They make other models that are for drinking liquids. These work and they look good. I put chicken fingers in them for my kid’s lunch at school (when we had schools open) and they stay warm from 7am until 1pm when she eats.
OH MY GOD THEY CAPTURED THE ADDAMS FAMILY THING IN ONE OF THESE JARS AND USE HIM TO BAIT INNOCENT UNSUSPECTING DOOFUS GLEN WITH DELICIOUS ICE CREAM SO THAT THING CAN… UM… FINGER GLEN!!!
Is it just me that gets annoyed when people get die/dice wrong? (You can have one die or many dice. You cannot have one dice or many dies. [Unless you are referring to things that are not numbered polyhedrons, in which case dies is fine.])
@m2pt5 a deer ran out in front of my car the other day, luckily I was able to stop because following behind were many more deers. Last year when we were in Mexico we ate in a restaurant that their most requested dish was an octopus appetizer, the server said it was so popular that they go through 20 octopuses a day!
@jdavis103 he’s busy writing another novel. And besides, I think Meh is getting a lot less management attention these days in general; they’re using it more and more to cross-promote their other sites. Which is…an ok business decision. But it’s kinda boring, speaking as someone who has, for some dumb reason, committed myself to visiting once a day to click the Meh button until they carry me outta here feet first.
First of all I have this in the Mug format. The copper which is INSIDE the mug (NOT THE LINING) i a conductor and hence it keeps hot things hot for hours and cold things cold even longer. It works. The inside is shiny stainless steel so it won’t react with food. The most important thing you have to remember is DO NOT put in teh dishwasher. The heat of the dishwasher will break the vacuum seal and the the thing will be useless. I love mine. This version would be good for soups or even throwing in a few chicken strips that will stay hot till your kid’s lunchtime if schools ever re-open.
So if you have 4 of these and you put hot stuff in 2 of them and cold stuff in 2 of them - how do the containers know which ones to keep hot and which ones to keep cold?
I bought these to take soup for lunch to work, I can heat it at home and hopefully it will be hot at lunchtime. Then I won’t have to go into the lunchroom to heat it.
As I laid in bed trying to fall asleep, I tried to find a practical purpose to owning a set of these. Just as I was about to drift off to dreamland and have visions of saving dragons from fire-breathing maidens, I came up with one really practical use.
Often times when I get fast food to go, it’s cold by the time I get home. If I keep one or two of these in the car, I can put burgers inside and hopefully they’ll remain piping hot by the time I can enjoy them. Or, if I’m on a road trip, I can have one burger now, and another in a couple hours that’s still warm.
Glad I bought one set last night, as to my surprise they sold out. That’s the good news.
The bad news? I didn’t get to dream about dragons and maidens. Instead I had a dream I was trapped in a furry convention, having to pee, and all the bathrooms were closed. It was awful. I felt cheated.
@Bandrik I can see french fries or hot dogs fitting in these, but a hamburger? I guess if you’re talking about those little White Castle ones maybe, but then I consider them more of a tiny sandwich than a burger.
I just had soup right now at lunch time , I gotta say these are great. soup was in the bowl about 6 hours ago and it was actually the right temperature (for me anyway) to eat.

Noooooo!!!
Are they dumpster diving for this shit???!!!
Um, let’s just all agree that the team at Meh HQ is trolling us during COVID-19. Back to SNL. Interestingly, this episode has more shelf life than anything you actually store in these jars.
@zachdecker Me neither. I dont understand what the real utility of this product is. I dont understand why the meh community is pissed.
Can you mix your hot and cold items together and get 15 hours of lukewarm?
And in a related thought, how long does it take you to transport stuff from your kitchen to your living room?
@mehcuda67 they can’t advertise this because people would think it’s perpetual motion or something. But I hear on the DL that they can keep things lukewarm indefinitely*.

I didn’t know Glenn knew Thing! Are they on a date?
Hey guys, you remember the day meh did blackface, again?
Wait…it keeps hot things hot and cold things cold. How does it know?
@Zott Secret 1980’s McDLT technology.
Missing - Order in the next 1 hour and get 4 more jars free.
@tejas_vern it is; just pay $19 separate handling fee.
Dishwasher safe? Because if it’s not… it’s like dry-clean only clothes: NOPE!!!
@a13z As Mitch Hedberg said, “this jacket is dry clean only. That means… it’s dirty.”
@a13z
The jar isn’t but the lid is.
Source company answered QA on QVC product page.
@a13z everything is dishwasher safe in my household… Some things just don’t last very long.
@a13z @OnionSoup Especially remotes and goldfish.
@a13z @mehcuda67 they are very clean goldfish though.
I have several Primula items for tea & coffee & it’s decent quality stuff. If I had any actual use for these & if they weren’t in stupid multi color packs I’d probably get them.
OH GOD!! THEY CUT OFF GLEN’S HEAD AND USED IT FOR ICE CREAM TOPPING!!
@tweezak Wow, what an awesome new flavor idea!
@hchavers I wonder what happened to Mediocrebot. He/she didn’t chime in with the usual awesome poetry.
MEALS! DEALS! EELS! AWESOME!
@tweezak Huh. Where have I seen this line of commentary before, I wonder…?
Each of those holds just enough food to piss me off because I have to hit the vending machines because I’m still hangery
Can you show the inside so we know what kind of food can be kept hot and cold? Can it hold a hot mess or a cold insult?
@hchavers Last hot mess I had disagreed with me and stuck around to bother me for way longer than it should have. I can’t recommend them.
@hchavers you can store revenge at it’s ideal temperature in these.
The only place gazpacho gets transported is “to the trash”
Not to seem skeptical, but why would adding one of the worlds best conductors (copper) be a good idea in an insulating container?
@mehcuda67 you’re too sharp. These are actually Moscow Mule Mugs in double Stainless Steel disguise.

@hamjudo you’re a very informative person!
I just come here now for the D&D jokes
If only they weren’t metal I could use them for my sourdough starters.
@djslack the metal doesnt react to food items so you could. BUT they retain heat really well, so it’s possible it woudl explode at some point
@djslack ask yourself…what would Lemmy keep his sourdough starter in? Definitely something metal as heck.
@UncleVinny he for sure would. Primula is more Rob Zombie’s thing, though.
Hot stuff stays hot n the cold stuff does not
I’ve got ice cream and stew in my Primula-a-a
OH MY GOD THEY CAPTURED THE ADDAMS FAMILY THING IN ONE OF THESE JARS AND USE HIM TO BAIT INNOCENT UNSUSPECTING DOOFUS GLEN WITH DELICIOUS ICE CREAM SO THAT THING CAN… UM… FINGER GLEN!!!

@m2pt5
It’s definitely just you.
@m2pt5 I correspond with someone in China for business who writes “dices”, which I actually think is sort of endearing… (But I agree on the rest)
@jdavis103 @m2pt5 Don’t get too enamered. His computer translator is off
@m2pt5 a deer ran out in front of my car the other day, luckily I was able to stop because following behind were many more deers. @m2pt5 @punkynpye it’s definitely not just you.
@m2pt5 Freckles, my poor horses… she thought of ant and diced.
Waa what a minute. What about the Veg A Matic? It slices DICES chops heck you can even make Julianne fries for goodness sake!
@Dog19026 This will keep those fries hot all day
But how do they know if they should keep things hot or cold?
@caffeineguy Maaaaaaaagic.
Did their humor writer quit like 4-5 months ago? I swear this site was funny once, and now we get the result of 5 minutes of googling

How many McDLTs can you get into one of these things?
@cfbrand3rd depends on how motivated you are!
Bluetooth compatible?

@arfdawg do I really need four of them, though? Answer: I do not.
You can put different items in each to stay warm and not mingle in the same place
So if you have 4 of these and you put hot stuff in 2 of them and cold stuff in 2 of them - how do the containers know which ones to keep hot and which ones to keep cold?
Also - does this require a micro-USB port?
These are insulated, right?..that’s like isolated, right? So if you keep them six feet apart, these are coronavirus compatible!
Darn, I missed out on buying 12 useless beer koozies.

KuoH
@kuoh - I guess I won’t know until I get them in person, but I was thinking I could cram one or two McDoubles or Jr Arby’s in one of these containers.
@Bandrik I know 3.3 inches sounds big, but…
KuoH
@kuoh Heh heh heh.

@Bandrik You know those maidens have to be virgins don’t you…?
