OMG THESE SMELL! Actually, not too bad for rubberized gloves. They smell very rubbery. Bonus, the touch thing doesn’t work on my late model Galaxy phone. I imagine they’ll be good for blustery days.
I’m going to put a couple of pairs in my car and they rest in my garage.
I bought these last winter. Yes, they are waterproof. They smelled a bit, but I was using them outside so who cares? Useful to leave in the car for times you need to clear snow off when out but didn’t wear waterproof gloves/mittens. I bought more after using a pair for a very messy cleanup.
@mediocrebot Ok, the horse from Annihilation! They cut that scene because when it whinnied “Willlllbur, I don’t feel so good”, the test audiences freaked out.
@JohnQ118 – 1) “Plastic contamination from latex has the potential to influence plant productivity and soil health”
2) “Microplastics, one of our era’s most pervasive environmental problems. One major culprit is nylon, its environmental durability and a propensity to decompose into microplastics make it a nightmare: it is a leading source of microplastic contamination.”
-read it for yourself.
Technically speaking, nylon was created to be durable (unlike PET/PETE polyester). Like the plastic rings of a 6-pack, it will last “forever” in the shape it was designed in, despite splintering off every time it’s washed, stretched, or dried in the sun. https://wikipedia.org/wiki/Nylon
@JohnQ118 And you couldn’t take a few more seconds to post a link to your sources? Without cites, you’re simply recycling pixels in the form of random internet noise. (Sorta like A.I.slop.)

Nobody’s under any obligation to do your homework for you. If you don’t think that those cites are accurate, plug one of them in and find out where you see it come up from. Of course, if you’re of the opinion that the entire microplastics thing is a hoax, there’s probably not much point in someone wasting their time pointing you at sources. Personally, I’m not entirely sure just exactly how serious the problem really is, but I’m keeping a close eye on it because I’m sure that eventually someone will do the research somewhere else in the world to find out just what kind of a hole we’ve dug ourselves into.
@werehatrack I was replying to his 9:05am post, which was text, not an actual citation. Including the cites is his homework, not mine - otherwise, his words are empty and I don’t hear them.
[Of interest is that plugging them into the two leading search engines basically came up dry.]
@rpstrong I’ve been noticing that the accuracy, neutrality and usefulness of Google, in particular, has declined sharply in the past several years. When they plugged in the AI filter, it got substantially worse, generating factually wrong answers far too often. Google’s search results often don’t even get close to what I’m trying to find until I scroll past the first four pages of often-sponsored crap.
@OnionSoup@PhysAssist And today in Houston, the forecast high temp is 79-84F (depending on whose forecast you use), about ten degrees above the past “normal” of 72F.
@aa040371 Better price, but for a different product - these are insulated; the ones you linked to are not. Infact, they feature “…excellent breathability keeps hands cooler, dryer and more productive, Thin feature enhances dexterity…”
@aa040371 … why would I want 24 pairs of gloves (there’s BOGO sale that, if you did buy one set – the cheapest being 12 for $12 – you would get an additional set)
@gt5 Just got mine, and I concur- they ALLOW you touch a screen wearing them, but nothing works! And there is something on them that leaves a weird smear on my phone
Agreed on both counts. First pair does not provide touch screen response, and I do hope the smell wears off. I’ll use them for gardening, especially picking up handfuls of leaves. They do seem pretty warm.

Do they keep your hands cool in the less hot months of Winter?
@yakkoTDI You mean that you want warm hands?
Wow, the QVC reviews are so bad they kind of make me want them. How terrible could they smell, really?
@mossygreen Mine were delivered today.

need to correct your listing details. Says includes two pairs of gloves…
@chienfou
Looks like they fixed it…
No sizes? Hope for the best? Even stretchy nitrile gloves come in sizes
First bullet point says “Includes two pairs of durable work glove”
I’m not sure why I went for these, given that it may be a total of four OR eight gloves and that “Men’s” and “Women’s” are not sizes. But whatevers…
/giphy paunchy-vanilla-nickel

@baqui63 of course men/women are not sizes. We are OBVIOUSLY colors.
/giphy understood-blocky-show

/giphy perceptive-finicky-pigeon

In for forty finger cots.
These seem to be a mighty good price. Maybe I will set my alarm for 8:50 PM PDT tomorrow and let feet … errrr … fate decide.
Are they waterproof?

I absolutely, categorically, emphatically do not need (or want) these gloves.
And yet…

@mediocrebot Uh… that horse seems to have sprung a leak (and an ear on its tail). Any cartoon veterinarians here?
@mediocrebot @shahnm that horse looks inflated
@mediocrebot @werehatrack Hmm. This looks like a job for @PooltoyWolf!
@mediocrebot I am sorry meh, this one is wayyyyyyyy too creepy, even for me. Feel free to delete the picture and this.
My original post that I am sincerely ashamed of :
Ohhh, that’s the super rare double-butt 3-eared worry horse.
/[DONOT]showme horse worried about ear in tail and second butt embedded in rear right thigh.
@cfg83 I think you should live with it :p
@cfg83 You only have yourself to blame and you know where to post it.
Can we make it worse?
/showme the most disturbing horse ever
@SweetCheese NOOOO
@mediocrebot Ok, the horse from Annihilation! They cut that scene because when it whinnied “Willlllbur, I don’t feel so good”, the test audiences freaked out.
@mediocrebot My Putrid Ponies vibes intensify (yes, that is a real game)
@mediocrebot @shahnm @werehatrack I must have missed this! That horse does indeed appear to have an air leak…
What do you want me to say?
Nylon gloves putting microplastics into the environment.
@JohnQ118 – 1) “Plastic contamination from latex has the potential to influence plant productivity and soil health”

But this also happens with acrylic, polyester, and spandex. (And to a degree, harder plastics, like those in PVC piping, can “splinter” or “leach” microplastics.)

Although at this point, because plastic is so ubiquitous, even washing your face will cause plastics to enter the sewers.

@rpstrong – look it up for yourself. It took me 15 seconds to find those two I quoted from…

@JohnQ118 @rpstrong What search are you using? When searching for those exact phrases, Google and Bing come up empty for me.
@pakopako DuckDuckGo. (I never use google).

Winter? I seem to recall hearing that word in the distant past.
@OnionSoup
Coming here in upstate NY tomorrow for a few days…

Are they at all warm? “Terry lining” doesn’t sound that functional for Michigan. Sounds like frostbite.

Much better price at 'Zon here: https://www.amazon.com/Kebada-W1-Working-Touchscreen-Gardening/dp/B0BCVFN478

Rubber/rubberized gloves are terrible in cold weather. They seem to conduct cold much more than any fabric.
No sizes???
@amusinglisa We want sizes! We want sizes!
Honestly though. Goes outside to touch grass. Wears gloves (necessary sometimes. Fine)
Needs gloves to manipulate a touch screen? No lol
These look like the cheap (but adequate ) gloves from the dollar store. $12? P p p p pass
/showme not this time
I need more information about sizes and durability. Not liking the few reviews I’ve seen.
While I can touch the screen, nothing happens. No scroll, no click, nothing. Also they smell terrible.
@gt5 Just got mine, and I concur- they ALLOW you touch a screen wearing them, but nothing works! And there is something on them that leaves a weird smear on my phone

warm, grippy, odor makes me want to vomit… have to keep them outside.
@bigtruck8 Lots of Chinese textiles have that problem, and sometimes the stinking chemistry is not volatile enough to be practical to remove.
Odor makes then unusable!
