I bought one of these (not sure if same brand) and it died after just a few uses. I’m sure the S&H on the warranty would be similar to just purchasing another, but if they all crap out that fast they are just landfill fodder.
I have a longer-style plasma beam lighter (for candles and such) and it’s been very reliable. So I would guess it was your particular unit or the brand. Though it might indeed have been this brand, given the comments below about them being DOA
I guess I paid the $2 Christmas penalty. If I had 18 dollars I would buy more, these make a great gift. A little stupid that they have to off switch on the bottom though lol.
Somehow, I think I can resign myself to not getting FOUR of these. Again, Meh, I might have ordered one, and if under the influence of something, two. But FOUR?
Good news! Based on reviews it seems likely that two of them won’t work upon arrival and one of them will probably break after a few uses. So you really are only getting one!
Despite the inspiring and assuredly unembellished anecdote that accompanies the listing, these are not the best style of “arc” lighter for lighting most candles that I own.
I got one of these a few holidays ago, and while they are ideal for open candles, clothing tag plastics, cigarettes, and cigarette-shaped products, they are challenged by pretty much any other thing you’d want to use a lighter for. Very cool in concept but very limited in utility.
@paco650 works good for crumpled up paper for starting our home fireplace. Also use one at work for starting the cutting torch much more reliable than those damn flint strikers
I gave these away to the smokers in my life for Christmas, they all got a jolt out of them (especially when they realized you can hold the contact points and shock yourself!)
Who still needs these? Just vape already. Yeah, it’s douchy, but not as douchy as smoking.
Any other use for a lighter there’s a better tool for, the long lighter (e.g. charcoal or old crappy gas BBQs, occasional birthday candles, campfires, and fireworks).
@dalekjoe I thought for a moment they might be good for lighting a campfire under more trying weather circumstances (the gas lighter is not useful in wind), but apparently a D battery and some steel wool is way better for those conditions, and cheaper.
(You can use any kind of battery and fine steel wool - and kindling. Put the wool under the tinder, rub the battery on the wool, and the wool will start to spark and catch fire. Cheaper than using a plasma lighter on waste paper, depending how much steel wool you go through.) BBC - Battery and Steel Wool Ignition
I went splitsies on this with a couple buddies the last time they popped up. None of us have had any issues with them!
Only annoying thing about them is that the lid doesn’t open completely like a Zippo, rather they open just enough to put whatever you’re lighting into the arcs.
@ryanhallfayce yes you are wrong. He’s saying they barely open large enough to put something in from the side. Like a disgusting smoker would do. If they flipped fully open I might buy some to properly light things on fire
@jmruru or USPS didn’t scan it after the handoff. You can contact meh.com/support but they are a little behind. In the meantime I would call FedEx and/or stop at my local post office (if it’s not too inconvenient) to see what’s happening. They might be able to figure it out faster than meh will be able to respond.

@deathbynoodlez @mike808 @reclaimercube Better adhesive this time though, please meh.
So I bought something similar to these years ago. I don’t really like them. But they are kind of cool.

@Telanis I didn’t realize that candle style versions were available. May need to pick one up! That, I’d have a use for.
I paid $20 for 4 last time!!!
@nickm461 Me Two! I guess it was a Christmas tax
@nickm461 Same.
Wait do I need this? Stupid question it’s meh.

@gertiestn throw two of them out. $9 each is still a good deal, right?
@gertiestn - One in the car, one in the kitchen match drawer, one in the workshop, and one on the bedstand.
@gertiestn

@vlpronj - I prefer my Saberlight, but these are a LOT cheaper.
Cap don’t open big enough to light shit
@elpepe Why are you trying to light shit?
@elpepe have you tired drying the shit first?
@elpepe My shit releases off-gases that are highly flammable. So these would do nicely at igniting my excrement…
@daveinwarsh @elpepe 'Cuz it’s good shit, man.
Quality is a bit hit and miss. One kind of stopped charging after like 2 uses. Still haven’t fully tested other ones

@dasred Hmmm, if I can semi-tase somebody with these, maybe they could actually have a purpose…
The story is classic
@lindwright Agreed. Premium literature right there…
Wow lots of smokers around here. Time to sell the quit smoking gum or patch
@Stallion How do you light those?
Do these work with Alexa?
@2many2no It’s worth a try, but it’s probably just easier to turn Alexa off.
@2many2no
/giphy shut up Alexa
@2many2no @shaconaqe what the hell is going on there?
@Fen_Star @shaconaqe First case of Alexa peeping that I’ve ever seen.
Got 4 last time, kept one, handed the rest out as Christmas gifts and everyone enjoyed them and they all have continued to work great
You know, the video says they’re “tactical” lighters, I feel like you missed an excellent marketing opportunity there.
Who still needs these? Just vape already. Yeah, it’s douchy, but not as douchy as smoking.

@dalekjoe guess you don’t live in OR or CO… or several other cannabis friendly states…
@chienfou Valid
@chienfou No, on 2nd thought not valid. You can vape that too, or bake it.
@dalekjoe Didn’t know you could get THC products to vape… maybe I need to reconsider where my residence is.
@chienfou I think my nephew used to buy it in Cali.
@dalekjoe wtf. Is your google broke? I literally just typed thc v in and it filled out thc vape juice
@dalekjoe whoops that was for @chienfou
The tourches sold out yesterday. These are not a good replacement.
Here’s hoping at least two work for a while.
domestic-wailing-dill
@goldnectar well, she is definitely working her two…
I’m in.

Just FYI, I ordered 4 of these last month and 2 were DOA…
@Idonotcare I got 6 in Christmas 2017, and 3 were DOA…Your story checks out…
@Idonotcare I ordered 4 for Xmas as well and 2 were DOA… tiny blue led flashing twice instead of once while trying to charge.
I use these to gently singe the tiny hairs around my nipples.
@Bumplepimp TMI
@Bumplepimp JPEGs or it didn’t happen.
Question: if these don’t set off my Geiger counter, can I return them??
So if I jam it into somebody and turn it on, will it work more like a TASER or a light saber?
I went splitsies on this with a couple buddies the last time they popped up. None of us have had any issues with them!
Only annoying thing about them is that the lid doesn’t open completely like a Zippo, rather they open just enough to put whatever you’re lighting into the arcs.
@ryanhallfayce OK, I might be wrong but if “they open just enough to put whatever you’re lighting into the arcs” isn’t that all you need??
@ryanhallfayce yes you are wrong. He’s saying they barely open large enough to put something in from the side. Like a disgusting smoker would do. If they flipped fully open I might buy some to properly light things on fire
@ryanhallfayce I feel like if they let the lid open all the way, you could use it as a tazer.
@ryanhallfayce @StevenS757 so… A positive.
I’m hoping these lighters are similar enough to the ones hacked to make music.
@ark I WANT TO DO THAT! But I’m pretty sure it would take me longer than forever. Plus it has a high voltage warning.
So how long do these hold a charge? Did Gleg have to charge them prior to lighting his scented candles? Details, Meh!
eh what the hell

I love the hideous color

Why can’t I “like” posts anymore?
@Trinityscrew click the star next to the title?
@Trinityscrew because the things you like are just…they’re just terrible.
I love cheap trinkets
No wonder my order is
/giphy dumb-sexy-buckeye
I bought the three pack and one doesn’t work
@sarabethwhedbee Hm…this sale was a four-pack.
@therealjrn Well that’s even worse.
@sarabethwhedbee meh.com/support
Good warranty. I had a small issue Brandon resolved it.
Mine still hasn’t shown up. Anyone else having issues?
@jmruru what does your tracking say?
@RiotDemon On Feb 1 they updated it to say in transit to u s postal service, Chicago, IL which is my city. Nothing since then
@jmruru have you checked your number on the USPS tracking site to see if they register it?
https://m.usps.com/m/TrackConfirmAction
@RiotDemon thanks, that was a good idea. I just did check, it says the package is on its way to a USPS facility.
@RiotDemon Oh, I checked it with the link you attached and it says pre shipment dated Jan 31
@RiotDemon That sounds like FedEx still has it, huh?
@jmruru or USPS didn’t scan it after the handoff. You can contact meh.com/support but they are a little behind.
