I bought these last time. They are decent, especially for the price. Just don’t expect the suction cups to stick to pretty much any surface for very long.
Love the alien photoshop. But as that picture I posted first said, Toilet paper. That’s why we can’t tell you we exist. I’d add to that that the alien now also would be saying - too bad you’d lite up my life.
@bugger@davidwr99@narfcake@Stallion I must have missed out on the drone fiasco. I don’t know why but that particular deal had the feeling of a cluster about it, so I avoided it.
@medz I got some nice strip lights from Lowe’s I put over the sink (under the cabinet; they have a cord and plug in, you can string them together). Wave my wet hand under the sensor and they turn on, wave again and they turn off. Nice and bright. Love them.
@medz@shaconaqe Nope. Washing dishes doesn’t trigger it. If I accidentally bump the drying cloth and it swings under the sensor then yet, but 99% of the time no.
@Perkalicious They don’t have a brand on them that I can see. I will be passing Lowes later today and can go inside and look. The ones I am using are 12" long with the ability to string them together. I have two and it gives plenty of light for the counter/sink.
@Perkalicious Actually I was in there today looking for something else to fix the shelf in a cedar chest.
Utilitech 11.8 inch plug in light bar Lowes item number 709225. There are expansion kits. Those expansion kits say the are for the UCL 21A so I guess that is the “model” of the primary bar. Each bar is 276 lumens.
They screw in and they come with thingies (the technical term ) that also screw in to keep the cord from sagging and getting in the way.
I am using the plug in one and one expansion light bar. So total 552 lumens which I find is more than enough under the sink. They are currently out of stock although they might be available elsewhere like Amazon or something. Haven’t looked. When you have 2 strung together they both turn on and off together when you wave your hand under the sensor (my drying towel, if I knock it sometimes turns it on or off too).
@robson Chip-on-Board or “COB” refers to the mounting of a bare LED chip in direct contact with a substrate (such as silicon carbide or sapphire) to produce LED arrays. COB LEDs have a number of advantages over older LED technologies, such as Surface Mounted Device (“SMD”) LEDs or Dual In-line Package (“DIP”) LEDs. Most notably, COB technology allows for a much higher packing density of the LED array, or what light engineers refer to as improved “lumen density”. https://siliconlightworks.com/resoures/what-are-cob-leds
@decoratedwarvet@robson
That is a different style of LED light, named because the LEDs are on a cylinder, laid out like kernels of corn on the cob. And they can get very, very high lumen outputs because of the density.

Why in the end pic do you see light, led I thought were directional, or did I miscount how many light faced forward. Do some face backwards. Please explain before I go pucking crazy.
@dtwsportsfan You can take the black (and yellow) puck out of the sillycone cover and put it in poopside-down. That can give you a pink, blue, or green light for ambiance.
I assume that you could come up with a better way of creating pleasing ambiance than this, but here it is.
The LED lights all face the same direction. They all light up in a ring around the power button.
What I like about these lights is that there isn’t a goofy switch on them to cycle through for different modes. You can turn them ON or turn them OFF. OldSchoolCool.
My apologies to everyone that wanted to witness @dtwsportsfan loose his/her shit and go pucking nuts.
So I got these huge cabinets to store all the crap I keep buying. My NinjacookerthingfromMeh fits in one of them. Once these are full (one already is), no more crap. The issue is I can’t see in these things, too dark! I need stick on lights!
/buy
I’ll just keep collecting the free (with purchase) magnetic led battery operated lights from Harbor Freight. Similar concept, additional single light on the front for “flashlight” like operation. Very bright. Also has a hook for hanging and only $3.00 if I HAVE to buy. MEH to these.
@joe645 My experience as well. It was fantastic for the first four minutes, then it fell into the sink. I can’t speak to the battery life (ok, four minutes , but had it stayed in place it would have been a great solution.
I’ve found the battery life to be surprisingly dismal if using for any long duration. Otherwise they are great for quick bursts of time. The magnet is JUST strong enough to stick it but it feels like it’s going to fall off anytime
I have deep pantry shelves and as people said before these have poor suction cups and magnets. I also have a bunch of little mason jars. Here’s what I do:
I also bought these last time. They definitely suck, but not in the way I was expecting. The magnets are decent, but not strong enough to work through the suction cup - or at least that’s been my experience. Pass.
Got these last time. They are bright. One lasted a week before it failed - new batteries, no light. One was delivered with a crack in the plastic base - sort of screws back together, but only with care. We forget to turn them off, so this these are a AAA battery manufacturer’s dream. For us, not good, not bad, just meh.
Sigh. Looks like its a “meh” delivery. UPS says they delivered it to USPS last Thursday, and USPS says they’re awaiting delivery. So…lost? USPS practicing “social distancing” with meh?

I love these things. I stick them to the lids of mason jars and put them on the shelves in my pantry- they light up everything.
@sammydog01 Would they be good for working on a car?
@Fuzzalini @sammydog01 Depends on the mason jar.
You can tell they have a lot of one type of shit when they sell it again and reduce the price. Paid $ 12 for them. Not bad at all-very bright.
I bought these last time. They are decent, especially for the price. Just don’t expect the suction cups to stick to pretty much any surface for very long.
@The_Tim So the ten buck pucks don’t suck much, but just a little?
@The_Tim, what about the magnets¿? I assumed that was the alternative option instead of using the suction cups.
@decoratedwarvet The magnets are decent, but you’ll probably have to take them out of the rubbery holder to get the magnet close enough to work.
@The_Tim, Thanks, for the heads-up!!
@The_Tim I still have one stuck to my forehead from the last time. I’m thinking the super glue was a bad idea at this point.
@The_Tim oh man! thank you for the humour this snowy Montreal COVID-19 morning. Belly buster laughs :)
I bought these last time. They’re very bright!

Do they glow continuously until you turn them off (or when the batteries die) or do they time out and turn off after a while?
@WaltC To be honest I don’t know- they’re blindingly bright so I always turn them off.
@WaltC button is on/off - no timer
@WaltC, I think it’s the 1st two. The 1st is logically so & the 2nd is eventually so.
@WaltC They glow until the battery runs out. One accidentally got turned on during shipping and it was glowing dully when I opened the package
Love the alien photoshop. But as that picture I posted first said, Toilet paper. That’s why we can’t tell you we exist. I’d add to that that the alien now also would be saying - too bad you’d lite up my life.
Oh it’s these again, okay.
I used my dronely Coupon code and got them for $5… couldn’t pass them up at that price.
@davidwr99 Coupon?
@davidwr99 what’s the code?
@bugger Codes are tied to your account, so even if you have it, it’s not going to apply.
@bugger @narfcake Where is the coupon in an email?
@bugger @Stallion These coupons were for folks who bought some drones that didn’t go quite as planned.
@bugger @narfcake @Stallion for those who bought the $12 Random drones only …otherwise it will not work. it is allthedronelypeople
@bugger @davidwr99 @narfcake @Stallion I must have missed out on the drone fiasco. I don’t know why but that particular deal had the feeling of a cluster about it, so I avoided it.
Me likey bright light puck. They are pucking great
Can you use these to play hockey?
@eeterrific yes at night
@eeterrific, Yes!! You can play hockey with rocks!!
@decoratedwarvet And soccer with coconuts (saw that in Cambodia - barefooted as well - ouch!).
Holla at me when you get motion activated. I don’t touch light switches these days.
@medz I got some nice strip lights from Lowe’s I put over the sink (under the cabinet; they have a cord and plug in, you can string them together). Wave my wet hand under the sensor and they turn on, wave again and they turn off. Nice and bright. Love them.
@Kidsandliz damn, you’re cool
/giphy envious
@Kidsandliz do you recall the brand? I got some Patriot ones at Menards that use a remote, but they’re not bright enough, even on max.
@Perkalicious I’ll have to go look. Too tired to do it now. Remind me if I forget.
@medz, I bought box of four lightbulbs with two remotes once from meh, wish, eBay, or somebody & they’re nice!!
@Kidsandliz @medz Must be quite the light show when you wash your dishes.
@medz @shaconaqe Nope. Washing dishes doesn’t trigger it. If I accidentally bump the drying cloth and it swings under the sensor then yet, but 99% of the time no.

@Perkalicious Still haven’t been to Lowes to find out for you what kind. Home Depot doesn’t carry them though.
@Kidsandliz don’t risk your health making any special trips to the store on my accord.
@Perkalicious Actually I was in there today looking for something else to fix the shelf in a cedar chest.

When I saw COB I first thought you meant “certified open box”, then I realized it’s the brand! Terrible name
@robson COB = chip on board. It’s the type of LED manufacturing.
@narfcake @robson I thought they were made of corn…you know, eco-lights…and edible in an emergency!

@jespensc @jmbunkin yeah, me too. Just testing you all!
@robson, CORNCOB!!

Battery operated lights are good for the coming apocalypse, but batteries that go in these would be better. But then, this is Meh.

they should have a timer off…
They don’t suck, I mean when you stick these things on metal wood whatever they come loose and fall off after about 3 to 5 minutes, they don’t suck!!!

Suction cup is not strong. Good for quick small projects.
Nothing more.
I have deep pantry shelves and as people said before these have poor suction cups and magnets. I also have a bunch of little mason jars. Here’s what I do:
@sammydog01 What a bright idea!
These give out great light…but…suction is awful, so not as useful for my needs.
I also bought these last time. They definitely suck, but not in the way I was expecting. The magnets are decent, but not strong enough to work through the suction cup - or at least that’s been my experience. Pass.

I’ve become attached to these little suckers.
While the suction cup sucks, the magnet makes up for it.
