The good thing is that these use AA batteries instead of weaker AAA that seem to be in much shorter supply all the time, because a CERTAIN website hasn’t sold any in a long while.
@narfcake those newer kind of batteries that us, um…idk… Something fancy!! Like the UltraFire WF502B , and the knockoffs—they have a cult of followers! They use LED’s and N batteries. People are lighting “vapes” off of them! (seriously, I don’t even know what that means). but they are kewl! This one meh’s selling, seems like it could take the place of a non-existent overhead light on my crawlspace quite nicely!
@blaineg Hey, I loved my little black Fiero! First car I bought myself; had 2.8l V-6 & 5-speed Getrag. With the right rubber, it handled like it was on rails
@jbartus I guess I wasn’t clear, I love the Firebird. Especially the first generation, as in the picture above. But I love the Camaro a bit more, as that’s what I’m driving.
It’s rather hard to do a new Firebird without Pontiac, but that hasn’t stopped quite a few people from making Firebird conversion kits for the 5th gen Camaro. Unfortunately most of the conversions I’ve seen are abominable eyesores. And they all seem to be trying to do the 2nd gen Firebird, especially the black & gold Firechicken. They might work better if they targeted the 1st gen Firebird.
@blaineg but 2nd Generation was the shit, black and gold all the way!
Sadly the most practical to attempt would probably be the 3rd Generations, though I can see how a decent 1st Generation interpretation could be made.
The Trans Am Depot cars aren’t bad for what they are but modern cars just don’t look like the classics, they all look very stubby and fat by comparison.
Runs on 3 AA batteries (not included, get your own)
Less than worthless. You’re not selling a product, you’re selling a burden.
Revving that Meh button right back up after buying a pretty green cup yesterday to match the pretty green carafe.
How bad can they suck, really? On a scale from “the LED headlamps I bought on here that smelled like gasoline” to 10, I hope these are a three at least. I’ll let you know.
After noticing I had paid for THREE MONTHS of VMP without a single purchase, I bought these super super cheap lights as some sort of justification to keep paying for my VMP stature.
As a a body of experts providing advice and ideas on specific political or economic problems we love these Think Tank Technology KC91109 Super Bright 30 LED Work Light with 7 LED Flashlights. We love how the plastic construction is solid and won’t fall apart, we love how the lights are LED so they surely won’t quit working in a week, we also love how they use AA batteries. We are telling the truth, you can tell because there is a Halo floating above our heads heading 2 the cloud.
@jbartus But it’s a seriously bad deal, like anything negotiated by Obama. It doesn’t just use AA batteries, it uses THREE of them! Talk about a hidden cost! And we all know how fast flashlights eat batteries!
@Dizavid@jbartus Well, how fast do LED flashlights eat batteries? I’m willing to find out. When my Maglite flashlight had an incandescent bulb in it, I replaced the batteries every month. But when I put an LED bulb in it, it ran for 10 more months on the batteries that I was about to replace. Another option is rechargeable AA batteries.
Got mine today. They don’t seem to work. Also of note, the batteries go in backwards? Normally the springy side goes negative. Tried both ways, no workey.
Nevermind. The batteries go in the typical fashion. DO NOT put batteries in the way it indicates in the battery compartment. Also be prepared to rotate the batteries until the flashlight works. I had to mess with each one for awhile.
@sixfootgeek strange, I had none of these problems with my six. o.O
So I just opened one up, I do see the markings you referred to, you’re right they’re wrong which might explain why they’re on meh. That said, I always go spring negative and it hasn’t failed me yet
Well, apparently I don’t need to buy any batteries. I just got my order and only one of the three works. The other two are DOA. And the design is just plain wrong. If you pay attention to the +/- on the case that’s not how the batteries should fit. The only unit I got working, I only got it working by reversing the batteries so the negative is on the spring (like every other battery-operated device IN THE WORLD!!!). However much meh paid for these, they got overcharged.
@ellett a few others have mentioned that issue, so strange. Hit up meh.com/support when you can. They’re playing catch up right now, so it may take a few days before they get back to you.
Mine work fine. I’m putting one in the car, one in the workshop and one is hanging on the refrigerator. If someone hadn’t of pointed out that the + and - on the casing were reversed (and wrong), I would never have noticed.
Meh, I thought this would never happen, but I’m running low on AA batteries. Help!
So far 2 of 3 don’t work and I didn’t bother trying the 3rd. I emailed support. Too bad - such a great idea! I buy lots of handheld lights from Meh and haven’t had great success. Maybe future will be different I tried inserting them both ways and turning them etc.
So, I haven’t tested mine yet because I tried to put AA batteries in the one that I opened and it wouldn’t fit. I thought maybe I remembered wrong and it took AAA instead. Since Meh won’t sell us anymore AAA batteries (What the fuck, guys???) I didn’t have any on hand to test them and just stuffed it back in the box. Now that I’ve come back to this thread, I see that they are indeed supposed to take AA. I’ll have to dig them out tomorrow and try to force some in and see if they work.
@Barney Nope, apparently I just can’t handle batteries. I told my husband about the last few comments, and my earlier issues, and asked him to test some. He pulled out the one I opened earlier, popped the batteries in, looked at me like I was an idiot, and then promptly blinded himself by turning on the flashlight.
/giphy Soooo bright
He opened another two, and all three worked. We have six more sets, but he doesn’t want to open them to test them since they’re headed for the gifting box.
@PurplePawprints yeah I have to wonder if the people saying that they have X number dead are following the clearly incorrect markings or inserting their batteries intelligently.

sure why not.
Anyone know, is this the new improved version of the one they already sold here with the defective on button?
I spy Glen.
Whose bright idea was this?
I have so many of those free Harbor Freight flashlights that I couldn’t possibly have room for any of these in the house.
Bright idea- triple play tonight !
VMP bait!

@wew Pro tip: never buy a battery with the word “fire” in its name.
@awk How about a car?
@narfcake The poor Firebird is feeling overlooked.
@blaineg Or there’s the somewhat underwhelming Fiero.
@blaineg Hey, I loved my little black Fiero! First car I bought myself; had 2.8l V-6 & 5-speed Getrag. With the right rubber, it handled like it was on rails
@blaineg don’t you be tearing down the Firebird, GM already did that! I was so looking forward to a new Firebird… then GM closed the doors on Pontiac.
@compunaut Yes, there’s a lot to be said for a small car and good rubber. I just wish it had been given a bit more horsepower.
@jbartus I guess I wasn’t clear, I love the Firebird. Especially the first generation, as in the picture above. But I love the Camaro a bit more, as that’s what I’m driving.

@blaineg It never felt underpowered (to me) with that V-6…
At this price I’m just trying to think of a prank worthy of the $15 for 9.
I’m all in
Glen has a moon pie but where is the RC Cola??
@AttyVette Rats! I should have thought of that.

@Tin_Foil HAH if only you would have canceled it, you could have gotten $5 back…
Meh, it’s time to sell us some batteries again.
@Barney Yeah, good ones that don’t leak.
I bought three sets. I like have an emergency light in every room. Any left over, I am taking to my grandmother’s house so she has something.
No batteries? No choice of colors? No thanks.
Switches were broken on the last ones but what the hell for $5. occasional-partial-sidecar
What are the odds? I got a confirmation code with my actual name in it! underrated-curt-pet
@curtw4 Well, Pet, that is uncommon.
It’s almost June!
Time to start stocking the Xmas cupboard.
They look illuminating, in for 9, wonderful-smiling-swan
Stink Tank vs Think Stank.

@mike808 vs tight skank…
@mike808 Package for Tony Stank.
Garbagé. Worse than no light at all (at least darkness is free!)
@squirrelsuit So you’re saying they’re made by Lucas, the Crown Prince of Darkness?
Planning to camp with the kids this summer, and really looking forward to burned retinas. Hypnotic Ancient Lime!
@ivymae These little things are wonderful, very bright, and USB rechargable. NiteCore Tube Keychain Light
I used mine a couple of weekends ago to get revenge^H^H^H^H^H^H^H educate a kid that was blinding everyone around the campfire.
“Hey, look at what I’ve got here in my hand…”
These are just gonna end up in a drawer lightly used.
Hoping these will sell out super fast so I don’t have a way to buy them…Fighting the urge…I have enough darn flashlights all over the place!
@Stallion Your wish was granted.
@blaineg @stallion I was happy to help. I bought mine just before they sold out.
DATE May 28th 2016 12:38am ET
These will sell out but I still don’t need them, not even for $5

I can’t wait to toss one of these in my car until the batteries leak.
I found the last ones more than adequate and I actually use them a lot.
These new ones have a sexy curvaceous design, and I love buying things for superficial reasons, especially things I have no need for, so in for a set.
turbulent-polite-blackberry
Well what was quick. Happy Memorial Day Weekend everyone!!!
Sorry, ever since 7/27 came out I can’t even see the word “Work” without thinking of…
(Not really, but this garbage has been stuck in my head for weeks so I want it to stick in yours too )
Wow, you suckers sure are obsessed with flashlights. Next to fukubukoros, they’re the fastest selling thing.
@Dizavid The outlet adapters sold out in 20 minutes.
@narfcake Those are awesome. I definitely see the appeal.
@Dizavid The “nightlight” was dim. And orange. But it was cheap, so it sold out quickly.
@Dizavid we’re suckers for bundles at impossible to beat prices. Where else can you get an LED flashlight for under $2 with that many LEDs?
@jbartus But it’s a seriously bad deal, like anything negotiated by Obama. It doesn’t just use AA batteries, it uses THREE of them! Talk about a hidden cost! And we all know how fast flashlights eat batteries!
@Dizavid I have drawers full of expiring batteries
@jbartus You’re the demo for this deal, then. Of course, once they eat through all those batteries, you’re pretty hosed.
@Dizavid @jbartus Well, how fast do LED flashlights eat batteries? I’m willing to find out. When my Maglite flashlight had an incandescent bulb in it, I replaced the batteries every month. But when I put an LED bulb in it, it ran for 10 more months on the batteries that I was about to replace. Another option is rechargeable AA batteries.
So how was your Friday night?
@andy88 It was good. I went to the pool.
@Dizavid that does sound good
@Dizavid @andy88 I wish I had a pool to go to.
@jbartus There, there. pats
I was busy but I managed to order these while working, 2 sets of 3 voidable-small-drink
Courtesy of Giphy:
@jbartus Get paid enough while “working” to make these essentially free? Take your time, look around, read the comments. Cool story, Brosephus.
It’s the work ethic that makes 'Murica great. Amirite?
@mike808 I was working on the MehChromatic theme so no, not this time, but I do plan to use these for work so… huzzah!
/
As a… a… fuck it, I’ve got nothing for these.
Something something buy VMP, it’s the best value in something something.
AA battery tip, these NiMH LSD (Low Self-Discharge, gotta love TLAs!) are as good as Eneloops, and half the price.
GP Recyko
Lots of info from battery geeks
Arg! Missed 'em. I easily would have gotten these.
@chacham don’t feel too bad they sold out in like 10 minutes
@jbartus I don’t feel bad. Especially as my Fuko shipped.
@chacham I hate you.
Got mine today. They don’t seem to work. Also of note, the batteries go in backwards? Normally the springy side goes negative. Tried both ways, no workey.

Got my six today, very well pleased. Can’t beat em for $1.67 apiece.
I got my 9, and can’t wait to take them to work tomorrow.

I went through a lot of edit/save cycles before this came up. It wasn’t exactly what I was looking for, but the “Fuck off Venus” means it must stay.
@PurplePawprints yeah I have to wonder if the people saying that they have X number dead are following the clearly incorrect markings or inserting their batteries intelligently.
@PurplePawprints Yep, batteries can be pretty complicated.
