I got this last time. The USB C wouldn’t charge any of my phones but would charge low voltage stuff. Definitely a pass. But meh did refund me so there’s that
@Bobbyb odd…I got these last time and they work fine for me. I’m trying to decide if I need another three.
I do know last time they said they don’t light up, but there is a small blue led on the end. It’s not a big deal, but people may want to know if they’re hoping for no light whatsoever.
@Bobbyb@NapkinEater I recall checking on Amazon for these and reviews suggested the absence/presence of a bright light (some people reported it being too bright to sleep) indicated a different model that was never really acknowledged by the mfg. Combined with Meh’s tendency to buy NOS (new old stock) pretty much makes this a roll of the dice for anyone who cares.
@Bobbyb I made the same mistake. It isn’t obvious at first that the USB-A end of the cable pulls apart to expose a USB-C connector. That USB-C to -A adapter limits the cable to 5 volt charging.
@Bobbyb@mokiejovis@NapkinEater I never thought of using nail polish, I’ve used tape to cover them and seem to have to replace it on the ones I travel with. Thanks for the idea, gotta find the nail polish now!
Likewise picked these up last time offered and are working great. It’s nice having multiples of these in different locations for a really quick connection.
Likewise picked these up last time offered and are working great. It’s nice having multiples of these in different locations for a really quick connection. Tempted to pick up a few more!
Picked up several on a prior meh sale. They work terrifically for the legacy micro-USB devices that I never want to plug in more than I absolutely must. Also very convenient for things that are in frequent use, like game controllers - I have the USB-C connectors on some Nintendo Switch controllers to easily toss them into a basket to charge.
Granted, I don’t use these for things that have easy, or very good alternative charging, like MagSafe/qi charging on a phone, or the upright charging dock for my PS5 DualSense controllers. No need to try to reinvent that wheel.
But for many other things, like charging old lights, or easy quick-connect/disconnect for some USB-powered devices, it is a great solution for me.
I don’t have these exact ones but I do have others by the brand and I LOVE them! Mine just aren’t the super fast charging cables but other than that they’re the same.
On my guys phone (when he’s the one hooking it up) sometimes the pin doesn’t make a solid connection because of his bulky otter phone case, for that reason he doesn’t care for them. He’s also got NO PATIENCE and doesn’t take the time to go slow and and double check that it’s connected. Men!
I’ve been using this kind of system on most of my devices for about 5 years and it’s the best, no more broken cables, and super convenient to attach and use my device while charging!
I’ve bought extra magnetic tips on Amazon.
The entire concept of using the magnetic 540° cable is (IMO) the best thing since sliced bread!
I tried different ones a while back - they worked fine for me but were just too fragile for phone use. Multiple tips stopped charging, some physically broke within weeks to months because they are constantly getting slightly torqued when your phone is in your pocket.
I still have one on a micro-usb Fire tablet relegated to kitchen/recipe use where I’m worried the port could wear out and it works great. But for something that you carry around and feels the forces of the world, not so much.
@Fuzzalini I have one cable in my car, one in my living room and one in my bedroom. All of them charge my phone very quickly. Not sure what everybody is complaining about. They did sell a different version of this before that was not as good.
they work well so long as there is no debris on either side of the magnetic connectors - at which point I had to separate the ends, peer at them looking for the offending bit of fluff, wipe them off, reconnect and hope that they’ll work. It is just about faster to just use a normal cable as once you plug it in its Just Going To Work.
I’ve ended up replacing all my magnetic ones with multi-headed cables - USB-C, Lightning and micro USB.
so im old tech my grandkids are new tech, so if they leave their charging cords or adaptors at home, sad kids. Im thinking this will solve the problem.
as I upgrade laptops and such, I’ve noticed ahh new tech so way too many different cords on the counter top, again thinking this will solve the tangle of cord problem
These are trash. Ordered them last time. Good idea poor execution. Somehow haven’t lost any of the other attachments but they don’t work that well in the first place. I only tried the apple and USB C charger to be fair but I’d imagine the whole thing is bunk. You got a refund you say?
Got these last time. Love them. No more yanking cables when you get up with your phone and forget to unplug it.
These are the model with a low-level blue led in the end to help you find it. The other model reportedly had really bright LEDs that were too much. Not these. Nice and subtle.
Love the swivel ends. No more left/right 90° elbow adapters.
Charges fast. You need a high wattage power supply or a USB-C PD power brick or a high-wattage USB-A 3.1 source The cable has an adapter built in (A or C)
Got 2 more 3-packs. Everyone I give one to or tries out my cord begs me for it.
Pitched all my other cords and replacing with these 6 footers.
The rubber “holder” clips onto the cord and used to tie up a loop. And it holds the other adapters so nothing gets lost, and you can still power up legscy micro-USB devices. However, most times I dedicate the cord to one device.
Get some, they will sell out.

@bobhobard The EU mandated that all phones should standardize on USB-C to facilitate providing public charging stations in public places. So, of course, Apple discomplied by installing a USB-C port in a phone that’s intentionally picky about what’s on he other end of that USB-C cable. Because the EU forgot to mandate that the devices had to be capable of taking a charge using the minimal USB-C power availability spec.
Typical Apple dick move, but I honestly expected worse.
@ShotgunX I clicked on the link and did not see a coupon. This sale on Meh is for Three (3) six foot cables, the Amazon page the link sent me to is for One (1) cable. Yes, it is less expensive, but only if you buy just one. Any chance you posted the wrong link?
I need help, if anyone on here is electronic savvy, so my cord wouldn’t charge my iPad. Then I read @Bobbyb’s comment about the USB-A having an adapter on the end that could be pulled off, and voila…USB-C. It worked. Then I found an Aukey block with both a USB-C (PD) and a USB-A port in it. It says USB-C output 20W PD, so I thought “great! This will charge my iPad even quicker” but it stilled charging all together. I thought I might be because I plugged the block into a multi outlet device, so I tried plugging it in directly to a 110 outlet in the wall. It still wouldn’t change my iPad. I thought “ok, I’ll just plug it back it to the block that worked, but now it won’t charge my iPad either. The blue light is still on and it will still charge my iPhone just not my iPad. After writing all of this, I tried charging my iPad with the standard USB-C cord and it wind charge with that either. Did I fry something in my iPad? It is still working otherwise, just not charging.
After writing the novel above, I rebooted my iPad. It will charge again. With the new cable and magnetic tip. I Am not using the Aukey USB-C PD block. So…do you think it was too much power? Or did I plug things in in the wrong order, you know how directions always say to plug into the wall last, I’m not sure I did that.
@jmrobinett Most likely, it was a system error that may have been related to the iPad seeing inappropriate input from the charging source, with the result that the OS shut down that capability to prevent damage. (Apple is actually very good about doing things like that.) There was probably a way to unstick it from the protective disabling, but as I’m pretty close to Apple-illiterate (by my standards), I’d have no clue where to find it. Your reboot approach did the trick, so I’d say “No worries, take notes and continue as you were.”
Taking a pseudo survey here:
I bought these. They work. My thought was plug the little magnetic tip in to iPhone (lightning), iPad (usb-c) and Bluetooth earbuds (micro-usb) and leave them there. Charging port doesn’t get clogged with dust, etc. What I hadn’t thought of is, I charge my phone especially, but other devices so many different locations and have standard cords EVERYWHERE! I thought these would be great. But obviously this system doesn’t work for me. So if you live this system how do you make it work for you? Do you keep the tips in the device. And have multiple cords on key locations or do you carry the magnetic cord with you everywhere? Car, bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, living room, etc. or do you go back and forth between magnetic and non-magnetic, requiring you to take the tip in and out all the time? I don’t feel safe with the tip holder, as the strap only secures the one in the middle. I think the others will eventually fall out and get lost. Thoughts? Ideas?
@jmrobinett I use mine like an ersatz magsafe cables for tablets as those have the greatest usable life and are more likely to suffer USB port failures because of their weight.
I avoid regularly high speed charging as it stresses batteries. These are all basic 10W (2A) chargers connected to Amazon and Samsung tablets, which works just fine.
I have one cable at my sofa, one near my bed and another in the family room. My kid puts their tablet in the family room overnight (or when playing games), I use the sofa cable when I need a top-off and the bedside for nightly charging.
I have not used them on my phone because I’d need a 4th one in the car for AndroidAuto (which I generally only use when I need the maps). I also don’t buy devices that need regular mid-day top ups. If a phone can’t end a typical day at >30%, I get a different phone.
@jmrobinett My husband and I have so many gadgets that need charging that it borders on the ridiculous. (Not even kidding, I wish I were!) We have spent more money on magnetic cables in the past few years than I like to think about, he seems to always be searching for a better cable. We got some of the BRIGHT glowing version of these a few months back. I think he has finally settled on these (I guess I’ll see if that changes in a few months).
So, to answer your question, we make sure we have 2 cables in the car (in case we both need to charge our phones), we each have a cable beside us where we sit and watch TV, he keeps a cable by his home computer and his office computer, I keep one in my purse, and finally we have two that stay in our travel bag.
Just to be sure I have enough of these I just purchased 2 more 3 packs, because he’s also been known to give them to friends or family that use them and say they’ve never seen anything like this.
@jmrobinett I have charging capabilities scattered around across multiple rooms plus multiple vehicles. I have a couple of inductive charging stands that keep the phone at an angle convenient for reading a book on it. Those charging pads are not designed to be fast chargers, so they don’t get terribly warm. But they make a significant difference in how long my battery can go nonetheless.
@TallPerson Many cases have a charging recess that is shaped only for the typical flat plug, and have to be modified by very careful surgery before the larger shoulder of the magnetic tip will go in far enough. I had that problem with the case that was on an old Samsung phone of mine, in the era before USB-C existed. I made the modification, and then a couple of months later, a rust particle got into the end of the cable and shorted it. The end got so hot that it almost burned my fingers when I tried to pick it up. That was the last time I used a cable with a magnetic tip. My environment is not friendly to them.

@NapkinEater my light worked great, lightning and micro was fine. But the iPhone 15 no go. My thermometer worked great on usb c
@Bobbyb I use mine with my Galaxy S22 Ultra with no issues. Admittedly, I haven’t tried quick charging. I’ll try with an iPhone when I get the chance.
@Bobbyb I made the same mistake. It isn’t obvious at first that the USB-A end of the cable pulls apart to expose a USB-C connector. That USB-C to -A adapter limits the cable to 5 volt charging.
@Bobbyb @NapkinEater Same for me. I’m thrilled with my three-pack from the last time but the one thing it won’t charge is an iPhone 15.
I put a little nail polish over the bright LEDs at the cable end. They’re perfect.
@Bobbyb @mokiejovis small useless update: I only have access to an iPhone 12, but it charges.
@Bobbyb @mokiejovis @NapkinEater I never thought of using nail polish, I’ve used tape to cover them and seem to have to replace it on the ones I travel with. Thanks for the idea, gotta find the nail polish now!
Likewise picked these up last time offered and are working great. It’s nice having multiples of these in different locations for a really quick connection.

This is tempting for some of my older devices.
@yakkoTDI you won’t regret it. One of the best use cases for me is being able to use the same charge spot for devices with only one cable.

And no, I don’t work for the company! Lol
@Lynnerizer Use a rotary tool to cut away part of the phone case around the charging port so that the magnetic tip can sit flush with the phone.
@ShotgunX
Smart thinking, thanks!
I guess I’m special, Jeff gave me a discount:
These do not charge any iPhone 15. Worked fine for Lightning on my 14 Pro, but the usb-C is a no go for Apple products here, it appears.

I figure it’a OK to get them, I don’t have any iPhones! Please don’t phone-shame me!
No Shame @Kyser_Soze - nor do I. Great screen name!

And once everything supports USB-C and we finally live in a dream world of compatibility…USB-D. It will be shaped like a giraffe and have 47 pins.
are these the same as the NetDot Gen12 cables/adapters?
i’ve had similar cables

@commodog Me too!!! I am holding my breath for them.
I was about to order 2 or 3 sets for bridging the charge cable gap until the C revolution is complete…
Until seeing the iPhone 15 failures. This is the only website where I’m glad I read the comments.
