I was all set to buy it when I saw this: Expiration date of December 31, 2020
Bug season is almost over for 2020, no way I’m using up three bottles of this stuff by end of year. I can buy a single bottle of OFF with the same active ingredient for $6-$7 and it won’t expire in a few months.
@dasred@sippinndippin@SnakeJG I do wonder what the long term consequences of using deet are. I used it for years (and it was on my skin for days without being able to completely wash it off) taking people camping for a living.
@dasred@Kidsandliz@sippinndippin@SnakeJG Extended DEET use causes strange behavioral changes like staying up at night, visiting deal-a-day sites and pressing strange meaningless buttons every day.
@SnakeJG Yeah but the active ingredient more or less inhibits the ability for the insect to smell you. It’s effectiveness rapidly diminishes as it’s potency becomes less. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Icaridin
Read it and weep. Unless you live or are going to visit the Southern Hemisphere soon bug season will soon be over. By the time they return this stuff may be all pooped out esp. if you are a stinker.
@Dog19026@SnakeJG The article mentions testing products ranging from 7% to 20%, with 20% being recommended. But it says nothing about the effects of age on potency.

Seriously Meh expiration December 2020? I am about to quit Meh. This is shit. How about another freaking Libratone? Silly putty to shove up our asses (or out like the picture). I would have more use for one of these amiright?
Hah! The timing - Meh, how did you know. We’re currently camping at our rural northwestern Michigan “Peaceful Ridge” property.
But at 45° F night, 70° day this time of year, no bugs. For that matter we don’t get that many bugs. Sandy, good drainage, on a ridge at the edge of a valley with good breezes.
Bugs up here never seem to quit unless its super windy or super cold. I’ve always been a craved insect dessert. Never figured out why I’m so delicious to them. And planning to visit my kid (what do you call your adult child?) who DOES live in the south. Too freakin hot down there all year! I hate the south! Sounds worth it to me.
Did no one read the blurb? Expiration dates are only a manipulation to get you to throw away good stuff and buy more. How long does the “bad” smell stay potent? Are there studies?
@txag96 I have no idea what the guy is saying in that gif (can’t quite read his lips), but it has at least three more syllables than “That makes sense”.
Picaridin is the only thing that works (for me) for mosquitoes. Even the strongest DEET, the plastic on my shoes dissolving into goo, but they’re still biting.

This stuff is great with vodka.
@yakkoTDI Vodka martini? Shaken or stirred?
@eeterrific @yakkoTDI Shaken, not stirred.
@eeterrific @yakkoTDI Sprayed.
Well, at least it’s not a Bluetooth speaker.
@cengland0 I just ordered one a few minutes ago; but high-end and a tad expensive. My new toy arrives Saturday.

@SnakeJG a quick search of multiple sources shows picaridin doesn’t technically expire but may slightly reduce in potency.
@dasred @SnakeJG So you’d just be a bug appetizer instead of the main course?
@dasred @Kidsandliz @SnakeJG
Why not get Repel with lemon? It’s like $5 on Amazon and rated super high in CR testing. It avoids Deet also. So, you’re welcome
@dasred @Kidsandliz @sippinndippin @SnakeJG
That sounds like it would be good vodka also.

@SnakeJG And if it is sent PB you might not see it until after christmas anyway (well that is only a slight exaggeration).

@SnakeJG Bug season never ends in FL. We just change bugs.

Well at least now I have a good excuse
Bug spray? really?
Seriously Meh expiration December 2020? I am about to quit Meh. This is shit. How about another freaking Libratone? Silly putty to shove up our asses (or out like the picture). I would have more use for one of these amiright?
@sippinndippin At least they tell you the expiration date. I don’t recall seeing that anywhere else.
@sippinndippin Wow. Rant much?
[sarcasm] Bye! We’ll miss you![/sarcasm]
@Trinityscrew
Ok it wasn’t my intention to make many friends on Meh.
@sippinndippin You’re doing a really good job! Yay!
/image defeated-stereotyped-chin
@yeppers Those are some big choppers.
I’ve brought down bigger bugs than you, Picaridin!
Bug off!
Picaridin? Isn’t that the new Star Trek series on CBS All Access?
@Trinityscrew Make it so!
Stink bugs and spotted lanternflies are up there for worst bugs that we deal with on a normal basis.
@MLigas Bethlehem, PA here. You? Guessing nearby based on your bugs lol.

@RedOak BTW, those leafless trees are due to the evil Ash-borer. Taking them down gradually. This is not the desired path the good firewood.

@Doooood Looks like “smash that Dworeen” to me.
these non-deet sprays rarely work.
@waterford5301 And he bought it at the end of last season. Hmmmm.
Needed this. Not worried about the expiration date unless it was in a hot warehouse in Texas or spends 3 weeks in a truck in shipping. Oh, wait…

@pmarin Now, that’s disturbing.

The customer service and the shipping from your company are dreadful. 11 days and there is no delivery date. My last purchase.
@irafox The estimated delivery date is always in the specs at the top of the forum topic- it’s Sept 25- Oct 12 for this.
