@reclaimercube No…but, if we combine them with the cooling towels, anti-karaoke machine, bluetooth earbuds, toothbrushes and gift bags (and a sharpie) we can make it come alive!
@brainmist@reclaimercube Does anyone else still have their MVoice? If so, is it still fully functional? Mine perfectly synced with my S8+ for 2 days, then no more… Tried other apps and such but no dice. It’s now just an over-sized “dumb” watch. $55 bucks from Mourning Save. (sigh) I have 3 Notifiers that are awesome-o at the phone stuff but the batteries for the analog watches are deceased.
A couple few new Notifiers and kitty shirts would be purrfect to ease my sorrows
@brainmist@surfeit so I still have a first gen pebble and every time I use it I remember exactly how far “smart watches” have come like … HOLEEEEE CRAP
@reclaimercube@surfeit The mVip I got had a dead rechargeable battery, it seems… Won’t hold a charge for, anyway. My original notifier has a dead analog battery. I hunted up instructions for replacement online, and have been toying with trying to graft one to the other, but I kinda like them both, and the notifier is more useful (you could tell they were still trying to develop the mVIP).
My mVoice does work, although it overrides my phone so all calls come through the watch. Erm.
Probably I should try a real smart watch. But darn it, Martian was so plucky while it existed!
Name had me fooled. Got excited for a minute thinking these would maybe be compatible with my Honeywell Lynx Alarm Panel, but nope. I’m already all stocked up on Foscams from meh, which I like better because they have zero cloud dependence.
@username Funniest story ever this week! And educational. Never knew such a thing existed - Thank you! We had the Ring Pro; very inconsistent performance although it did record the last moments at our house as we escaped the flames. I do believe Nest shall be the replacement once rebuilding is done. I’'ll be sure to cover the front of my cat shirts as I approach…
A security camera with Bluetooth is the same as a metal door with no locks. Just shut the door when you leave and the owner will never know you were inside.
Too lazy to research: any way to tie the facial recognition into ifttt or maybe homeassistant? I see Google Assistant integration exists. Maybe I should go read about it.
Potential useful case for ifttt would he to do something when it sees a resident is home. Leave reminders for wifey, and have Google or Alexa play them when she arrives. Or turn on favorite music or something.
Stranger vs. user recognition is neat, but wondering if you can tie anything else into that.
Does anyone know if these will work as normal WiFi IP cameras with a monitoring solution like Blue Iris? Or are they locked to a proprietary cloud-based system?
@craigthom@OGBYNXiaomi-Dafang-Hacks is a good one for those Wyze cameras too, if you want to use the PTZ version. Just needs an MJPEG over HTTP source and it would be perfect.
Hmm I’d need one that had cat recognition so I could set it not to go off when they move around the apartment or the thing would go off like fireworks on the 4th of July.
I’m so sick of cameras dependant on cloud storage. …there’s no such thing as ‘free’ cloud storage. And most of these types of cameras won’t work without the ‘cloud’ Sell me an independent camera and I’ll bite.
@SoftAsFur Yes! I need two cameras as I am moving back into hud in 8 days and the staff there steal from the residents. I have two rooms so need one in each room. It also needs to be able to be discretely hidden AND needs to be not meh. And somehow not pick up the movements of the cats all the time. Tall order I guess for something affordable.
@SoftAsFurThis is the camera I bought, although I got it for like $40. You can use it without a cloud service, it has an sd card slot it will record to. Cloud service that holds one rolling week of video was about $50 for a year. I use this camera to look in on the dogs when I’m out, and to watch them get fed when I travel. I can just scroll back to feeding time (there’s an activity graph) and watch that part of the recording. Ypu can download clips and stills for permanent saving. The night vision is good, the image is good. The app and service are simple and straightforward, setup was easy. I’m very happy with it.
@Kidsandliz the motion sensitivity is adjustable on these cameras, according to some of the reading I did last night. With testing you should be able to get them to mostly ignore cats unless they get right up on it.
I have two of these I bought at sams. They work well but I have a couple of issues. They are very sensitive. When the sunlight is at a certain point and comes through the front door, they send a notification to your phone. (I may just need to adjust the sensitivity) Also I wish there were an easy way to cut them on and off. You can set up a schedule but my schedule varies. If you are home while they are on, they constantly send notifications to your phone. These issues may just be user errors on my part.
Just came by to drop this off and make this joint more classy -
Bright star, would I were stedfast as thou art—
Not in lone splendour hung aloft the night
And watching, with eternal lids apart,
Like nature’s patient, sleepless Eremite,
The moving waters at their priestlike task
Of pure ablution round earth’s human shores,
Or gazing on the new soft-fallen mask
Of snow upon the mountains and the moors—
No—yet still stedfast, still unchangeable,
Pillow’d upon my fair love’s ripening breast,
To feel for ever its soft fall and swell,
Awake for ever in a sweet unrest,
Still, still to hear her tender-taken breath,
And so live ever—or else swoon to death.
I do not love you as if you were salt-rose, or topaz
or the arrow of carnations the fire shoots off
I love you as certain dark things are to be loved
in secret, between the shadow and the soul.
Mounting Bracket: absolutely unusable. You CANNOT mount this with the equipment given.
Face Recognition: utter Garbage. Doesn’t come close to working.
Motion Sensing: Too good, so good at the LOWEST sensitivity setting, EVERYTHING triggers it. A cloud? A single leave blowing? Probably a fly. Getting 3 notifications per minute render this camera absolutely useless.
Wide angle lens: Garbage. So wide, I can’t make out a face unless it’s literally 2 feet from the camera. Good luck with a license plate.
Total pain in the butt to set up, un-intuitive, buggy software. I’ve been looking for ages for a good camera system- this is NOT it.
These are absolutely horrible. Perhaps if you were to only use one camera, it might be ok. Adding a second camera takes time, and a third camera proved absolutely impossible. The app itself is the weakest point. Through several attempts to set up cameras, more often than not, some buttons in the app simply did not work or respond to touch whatsoever.

Surprise, surprise, it’s not a t shirt.

No meh shirt?

@jst1ofknd @reclaimercube meh shirts aren’t sad they are meh/have no opinion
Maybe but I don’t need 3 of them
@frozenshades
One to use and just put the other two facing each other.
Still waiting in that pallet of Martian watches…
@brainmist you know what Martian watches for 5$ and t shirts are both movements I can support

@kensey Criminally underrated comment. Philistines, the lot of you.
@meyerweb I just recently saw this too: https://adequateman.deadspin.com/this-childrens-book-is-messed-up-caps-for-sale-1828132670
@kensey @meyerweb My favorite article ever.
They’re just prepping.
This is so we can all share our Mehcitement when the barrage of Meh shirts go on sale soon!
@PHRoG they have a whole barge!!!
Name had me fooled. Got excited for a minute thinking these would maybe be compatible with my Honeywell Lynx Alarm Panel, but nope. I’m already all stocked up on Foscams from meh, which I like better because they have zero cloud dependence.
@dalekjoe I thought they were a camera add-on for my Atari Lynx, so I’m pretty disappointed, too.
This is hilarious!!
I AM BATMAN!

@username now, see…they wouldn’t have this problem had it been a Meh shirt…

Now you see me? - Mr. Thief
Can I get an Atari Lynx instead?
Didn’t we have security cameras last week?..way to spice it up…
I’m here because I heard there would be nachos. Well nachos and pagination!
Does anyone know if these will work as normal WiFi IP cameras with a monitoring solution like Blue Iris? Or are they locked to a proprietary cloud-based system?
@OGBYN I know people keep bringing this up, but there’s open source firmware for this cheap Wyze camera that turns it into a standard IP camera.
@craigthom @OGBYN Xiaomi-Dafang-Hacks is a good one for those Wyze cameras too, if you want to use the PTZ version. Just needs an MJPEG over HTTP source and it would be perfect.

@Kidsandliz why wouldn’t you want to watch that?
@unksol They only steal pens left out. Management, where I am moving to, steals far more than that.
NASCAR driver Jimmie Johnson. I’m a racin’ fan, yes, and I’ve been within 6 of him, burr was too freaked out to say anything!
Monday brain decided to read that as “fecal recognition” and I was all like “Wut?”

For this item, my Amazon product page advises me, “Customers who bought this item also bought,” a suture practice kit. There’s a story there.
