@RiotDemon@rockblossom At first I was getting increasingly annoyed that she gave the date as the first six digits. Well played. I guess I must be πOCD.
If the video was one second longer it would have been 3:14 - wonder if that was the aim?
@Limewater Also kind of interesting: In Greek, they actually pronounce the character ‘π’ with a short ‘i’ sound, like we pronounce the letter ‘p.’ However, a co-worker of mine is Greek and I asked him about this, and he said he pronounces it like “pie” when using it in a math context just because that is the convention.
@IcePopBOD “If you know the diameter of the observable Universe and you want to calculate its circumference with the accuracy of the diameter of a proton, the number of digits of pi that you need is 43.”
You would need only 60 digits to calculate it to the accuracy of a Planck length.
@IcePopBOD@PocketBrain And most high school students who take the SAT, ACT, or undergrads who take the G-MAT only need to know it to 2 digits. I’d suspect that that is only to the accuracy of the smallest hole circle a cockroach can fit through.
@Kidsandliz@thismyusername Kroger has many good food items, but their bakery isn’t one of them. From their buns to the look-delicious things in their dessert case, most of it’s just not good.
@pooflady@thismyusername Actually thinking about it, I sort of remember liking Walmart donuts better than Kroger’s (haven’t bought bakery stuff from either place in a long time).
You too, Cap!
Pie day is always appreciated around here!

Count To Pi
Price: $19.00
Condition: Probably New
2015 must have been a great year for pi day.
@RiotDemon “Must have?” You don’t remember it?
@rockblossom most of been so overjoyed I forgot.

What I always find amusing about this is that 22/7 really is a better approximation of pi than 3.14.

@Limewater Ha, when we lived in England (long ago), there was a haircut place called “π = 22/7”. Every time I’d walk down that street it would irk me.
@Limewater @mehcuda67 be even better if a bakery called itself that.
@Limewater look at Einstein here with his rational numbers…
e to the x, dy/dx
e to the x, dx
cosine, secant, tangent, sine
three point one four one five nine
Goooo team!!
I used to have 56 digits of pi memorized…
ANYWAYS… Happy pi day!

@IcePopBOD At least you memorized how many digits you had memorized.

holecircle a cockroach can fit through.I Know I posted this before, probably last year, but back in 2014 i decided to make a Pumpkin pie for Pi Day.
and because i’m a smart ass…
because duh! Pie are squared! Everyone knows that!
oh…that chunk in the middle? that’s where ol’ fumble fingers here dropped the phone into the pie trying to take a picture.
the phone cleaned up deliciously.
@earlyre Was it an Apple Pi Phone by any chance?
@mehcuda67 no…
No fruit phones for me.
Kroger has pies on sale
@Kidsandliz Kroger’s pies should be free.
@Kidsandliz @pooflady I am still not convinced that Kroger is a real place… it feels like a sitcom store.

@Kidsandliz @thismyusername Walmart doughnuts are terrific!
Google calculated 31,415,926,535,897 digits of π for the current record.

One of my coworkers left me a “Happy pi day” note. I got a huge grin on my face when I saw it.
Pi are not square! Pi are round! Cake are square!
