@erthian I don’t know what went fast last time, but I got 20 quattro cheese packs last time. I like packs better than cups/bowls but they called me a liar if I didn’t buy more.
So today it’s carbonara for me and 2x spicy chicken that I will try one of and then probably take to my nephews. Maybe I can get them some daebak spicy chicken to go along with it.
@chienfou@sammydog01 for me the cups take up so much space, being round and 50% air space. Fine if you have one or two but when you start talking about 16-24 that’s a storage commitment lol. I might have to have a temporary ramen nook in my office so I don’t hear about a ramen takeover from the kitchen enforcement team.
But on the pro side for bowls, you don’t have to do dishes. So all opinions are certainly valid.
@bippi@triavalon I have a very high spice tolerance by white guy standards, and the 2x spicy ramen was the only thing I straight up could not finish. I’m not sure if these bowls are the same spicy level as the packets though.
@phendrick The ingredient list states that it contains artificial chicken flavoring. I’m not sure of the export variant, but the seasoning packet of Korean local variant only contains less than one percent of chicken which is probably too small to taste like chicken by itself.
Wish they’d do a variety pack on these…super tempted, but, don’t eat noodles much and want to try a bunch (all) of the flavors and it would take years to eat it just get thrown away.
What is the shipping time on these? Asking for a friend who pointed out expiration dates and shipping time frame willl leave less than a month to devour 24 cups.

It’s always at the top.
As for eating them all while they’re still the best, just believe in yourself and you can do anything! And if your verb of choice is devour, it should be eminently doable.
We have several well-stocked Asian markets near us and they each have an entire aisle dedicated to instant soup. I buy an assortment every time I go there. Usually I’ll drop a raw egg in it while it’s cooking on the stovetop and pour it over fresh basil and/or Napa cabbage in the bowl. I prefer the soup style noodles not so much the dry ones.
@mikey somehow the loose blue shirt seems like some « scrubs » and when I’m at the hospital you would come in and say Hi I’m Mikey I’ll be doing your enema today. And would you like some noodles?
@pmarin I mean… that tracks. I’d probably be eating the noodles through a tube and loudly telling you how spicy they are, just for some extra cringe factor.
Got the carbonara and cheese ones last time, they arrived and husband kept pulling a “wtf is wrong with you” face because it’s a TON. They aren’t lying on the spicy, and once husband tried one he asked what other flavors they had. So we’ll be ready for the next pandemic shutdown over here in our spicy ramen box fort.
As directed, I have purchased more; got the Carbonara Big Bois this time. Best By dates? Pssh.
Real talk? I have not used an entire sauce packet since the first time; I can’t handle that kind of hot on a regular basis and the hiccups I got didn’t go away for hours. Still back for more, though.
Also went to Side Deal and picked up more of the Quattro Cheese packs.
@transplant PastaDrop was truly the highlight of Covid year 0 (2020). That and re-discovering daytime TV, filmed mostly from people’s kitchens and bedrooms.
I actually have not tried any of these despite being Korean and so of course I did the reasonable thing and got the 2x spicy one. This will be glorious.
Got the carbonara and cheese one last time and both were delicious. I have been craving something intensely spicy and both were good but not quite enough. I ordered a 2x this time in addition to more carbonara so I will likely satisfy the spice itch and regret having had it to begin with.
Got the carbonara and the cheese when they were available last time. Love them both, I make up the carbonara one and then drain out most of the water and add the powder and a bit of the spicey oil, I have also added some shredded cheese in and a little green onion, really really good! The cheese one is like mac and cheese with a kick. Nice for a quick lunch or snack.
The best move with these is to only boil the noodles for three minutes. The full cooking time gets them a little too mushy for my taste, three minutes is a pretty perfect al dente by the time they’re done sitting in the hot pan and mixing with the sauce.
The carbonara ones are odd but pretty good. The spicy sauce and cheese powder are separate packages, so you can skip one or the other or just add a little of one if you want. The spice level if you use all of the spice oil is hotter than what most packaged American products call hot, but it isn’t bad for this specific product.
Draining out some of the water after cooking is definitely recommended unless you want a really watery spicy cheese soup base or something.
Recipe tip: If you like egg, you can just crack one into the boiling water and break it up a bit just before putting the noodles in for 3 minutes or so.
@dave aww snap, was just thinking i could do like batches of instant pot chicken or beef and then bring it, but an egg or two adding that protein content sounds like a great idea, thanks.
can’t speak for the cups but the packs are good. high quality noodles and tasty sauces. If you add veggies & protein you can almost forgive the sodium content. Definitely a treat food (i say after eating too many days in a row)
@PhysAssist 105g, some of the amazon images have a picture of the nutrition info which has the serving size

I got the quattro cheese ones last time. I also went to using just half the chili oil packet, and it’s still plenty spicy for me. I find I have a reasonably high tolerance for (fermented) hot sauce but this kind of artificial concentrated spiciness puts me over the top much quicker if I’m not careful.

Yum! All these common ingredients I have lying around my kitchen:
Food Starch-Modified, Palm Oil, Glycerin, Soy Lecithin, Polyglycerol Esters of Fatty Acids, Potassium Carbonate, Sodium Carbonate, Disodium Phosphate, Guar Gum, Tocopherols, Riboflavin, Dextrin, Disodium 5’-Ribonucleotide, Maltodextrin, Glycine, Hydrochloric Acid, Sodium Carbonate, Sodium Hydroxide, High Fructose Corn Syrup, Steviol Glycoside, Artificial Flavor, Silicon Dioxide, Disodium, Inosinate, Disodium Guanylate, Monosodium Glutamate.
And one of these contains “laver,” which I assume is a dash of Rod Laver’s cremains… (It’s actually edible seaweed.)
It’s not “ultra-processed” food, it’s super-magna-uber-ultra-processed. My Ferrari-machine-like body can’t wait to absorb this chemistry set!
Received my 2x spicy today. Pleasantly surprised, excellent spicy. Sends me to that nice meditative place. The Samyang black didn’t really phase me, but these are a starts sweet, steady increases to full burning heat.
@zehnn I just got my 3 boxes… This shit is demonic. Gotta love Koreans… no bs warnings, just 2x spicy and a cartoon chicken holding a bomb. Heh, meditative place… I’m high as hell rn
@NadmanET@zehnn yeah…I just got my order today. I didn’t even add the full amount of the spice and sauce packets. My mouth was on . Good stuff, but tread lightly.
@gogrrl@zehnn So apparently these were part of some sort of online challenge? I just ate a bowl at work and while I was going through the experience I looked these up on Amazon… turns out they’re one of those products like the Haribo sugar-free gummy bears where the poets come out of the woodwork to write all sorts of colorful reviews about them. I really had no idea what I was getting myself into with these! This was a pleasant surprise for me but I think most normal people would have a hard time considering these ‘food.’ Some of the reviews say the flavor is not great or that it’s eclipsed by the spiciness… I vehemently disagree. These are truly delicious and the noodles are top quality ramen. That said, you won’t be able to appreciate those qualities when your fight or flight response kicks in and you’ll likely get there unless you’re a fellow chili lover. But if you’re into extreme spice I highly recommend picking some up next time they come around; I will buy all that Irk will let me!
Day 623. I have lost count of the days awaiting shipment. I hear other survivors have found their respective orders and are able to consume them…however mine continues to remain in processing.
Just because I can’t count or tell time doesn’t mean I don’t know what forever feels like. It’s the worst.
If anyone reads this, please…if you find my body, leave my order next to my bones. What I am denied in life, may I enjoy in the after. I imagine it will be easier to reverse eat than whole pineapples and pinecones on fire.
My Carbonara noods arrived yesterday and today I had myself a “Not Best By” extravaganza!
Inspired by posts mentioning adding veggies to the ramen, I thought why not put other expired meh leftovers to use?
Best by June 2022 on the left, Best by May 2023 on the right.
Added a layer of soybeans to the cup o’ ramen:
Then I filled with a generous amount of hot water from the coffee machine, waited 5 minutes, drained almost all water (to avoid spice overload), added the packets, stirred, and voila!
Verdict? Pretty, pretty good. Beans have a good chew and go well with the ramen. Thanks, meh!
I tried a 2x for the first time today. I should have listened to the crying bird on the box. Nose running, mouth pain, little bit of sweating, spicy. Added some frozen peas, onions, and peppers, which were nice but didn’t mix in very well and I doubt cut any of the spiciness. Took half a pint of ice cream to get the burning to stop. Will do again after enough recovery time, but will go with the less spicy (really enjoy the carbo) ones if I buy more.
These are indeed tasty and mildly spicy. I add an egg before adding the boiling water. Then carefully drain; makes a nice soft-boil (4min) egg and adds nice flavor.

Bernie Carbo-Hydrate bowls! Come and get it!
Ok. I would not lie to you, even though I’m only 4 packs into the last stuff I got from you. Gonna let you move some more product my way.
@djslack what was the super expensive one that went fast last time?
@djslack nm it was “ $216 for 24 Quattro Cheese Hot Chicken Big Bowls” I will forever reghretti not jumping on that.
@erthian I don’t know what went fast last time, but I got 20 quattro cheese packs last time. I like packs better than cups/bowls but they called me a liar if I didn’t buy more.

@djslack They are selling those packs at sidedeal as the daily deal today. But I decided to give the cups a try. Hope I don’t regret it.
@sammydog01 Must… Resist… Temptation. They’re so good, just remember I still have 16 of them already.
@djslack @sammydog01
Packs have 2x the product in them…
@djslack @sammydog01
@chienfou @djslack I don’t really want twice the serving size and I bet they don’t reheat well. Maybe next time.
@chienfou @sammydog01 for me the cups take up so much space, being round and 50% air space. Fine if you have one or two but when you start talking about 16-24 that’s a storage commitment lol. @chienfou @djslack Fine, I’ll buy the flat ones too because that will help the space issue. Wait…
That 2x spicy is… like a 6/5 thai hot. It could power a car.
@bippi
Praise checks name Bippi for this information! 6/5 fast food spicy is not hot but 6/5 thai hot would kill me!
@bippi @triavalon I have a very high spice tolerance by white guy standards, and the 2x spicy ramen was the only thing I straight up could not finish. I’m not sure if these bowls are the same spicy level as the packets though.
Label says “Artificial spicy chicken flavor”.
I’m betting the “spicy” is not artificial. So what is an artificial chicken?
@phendrick The ingredient list states that it contains artificial chicken flavoring. I’m not sure of the export variant, but the seasoning packet of Korean local variant only contains less than one percent of chicken which is probably too small to taste like chicken by itself.
Haha woops I bought more
I’ve had all of these and they are all delicious. The 2X is delicious, but painful.
tip: just use half the sauce packet and squeeze the rest into a jar to use separately (they actually sell the sauce by itself in bottles)
Wish they’d do a variety pack on these…super tempted, but, don’t eat noodles much and want to try a bunch (all) of the flavors and it would take years to eat it just get thrown away.

“Artifical Spicy Chicken Flavor” is OK, but the spicy version is pretty hot (and I grow Bhuts and Carolina Reapers). The 2x is probably over the top.

Most likely
@dave
/8ball will the gastroenterologist approve?
Cannot predict now
@dave Oh great that’s another “consultation” for $400.
Noodles are much cheaper.
The carbonara ones are odd but pretty good. The spicy sauce and cheese powder are separate packages, so you can skip one or the other or just add a little of one if you want. Draining out some of the water after cooking is definitely recommended unless you want a really watery spicy cheese soup base or something.
@mehric I found the more water, the spicier it tastes; limiting the water keeps the spice to a more tolerable level
Recipe tip: If you like egg, you can just crack one into the boiling water and break it up a bit just before putting the noodles in for 3 minutes or so.
@dave I used to do that with Lipton noodle soup and called it egg drop. Which it was not.
@dave aww snap, was just thinking i could do like batches of instant pot chicken or beef and then bring it, but an egg or two adding that protein content sounds like a great idea, thanks.
@dave @sammydog01 in college days a lot of things seemed to be acceptable food and beverages when in fact they were not, really…
nonetheless I ordered some of these + the SideDeal. at this age I should know better.
My kids love these - the packets come in 2, flavor and spicy - my kids add the spicy as needed
can’t speak for the cups but the packs are good. high quality noodles and tasty sauces. If you add veggies & protein you can almost forgive the sodium content. Definitely a treat food (i say after eating too many days in a row)
Can anyone tell me the size [either by weight or volume] difference between the “Big Bowls” and “Cups”?
I found a 70-80 G listing on the cups by following the Amazon comparison link included, but there wasn’t a similar weight listing for the bog bowls.
Thanks in advance!
Edit: …or I will entertain recommendations as to which are recommended- bowls vs. cups??
@PhysAssist 105g, some of the amazon images have a picture of the nutrition info which has the serving size
70g x 24 = 1680g
105 x 16 = 1680g
so both have same total amount, but i went with the 24 cups that were cheaper and expiring sooner, figured smaller would be better since i plant to add meat (or maybe egg, thanks @dave), as well as frozen veggies (keep a big bag of kirkland mixed veggies and add them in)
@ctweeks2002 @dave Thanks!
Didn’t see that- because I tried reading and didn’t look at all the images.

In for one each of cheese and carbonara cups [which always makes me think of it being burnt [as in carbonized]].
Never did my stomach overrule my head (and likely my hear!) than today… Hello expired Carbonara!
Cups are pretty tiny but great for a snack. I’m not too sensitive in terms of spice, but the flavor of the hot oil is a little overpowering. The heat level in the carbonara and four cheese is nice, a little on the intense end, but very nice. The flavor is on the synthetic side though.
