Aside: Do you know why the “heather” colors are always a poly/cotton blend, when the other colors are 100% cotton? I’ve noticed that in all brands of tshirts.

@stolicat @narfcake might be able to better answer that, but I think the reason is “because they are”. I like them a lot though and find them very soft and comfortable to wear.

@ACraigL @stolicat In order to get the striated color effect, the yarns (threads) have to be of different shades. The easier way to achieve this is to use a mix of fibers, as they’ll take on dyes at a different rate.

Nearly all heathers are of mixed fibers, usually cotton and polyester. Extra shading can be achieved with tri-blends, which are typically cotton, polyester, and rayon.

@ACraigL @narfcake Thank you, now I know - I have no problem with them, just wondered why heather always was a blend.

@ACraigL @narfcake So I got the Bounty Hunter long-sleeve T! But I would’ve preferred the zipped hoodie except they keep putting the design on the front, with the zipper running through it, and most people (my self included) don’t keep theirs zipped up to their chins so the design is ruined. Same issue with the “I go into the woods” shirt I also bought.
I’ve dropped a few notes about this in the comments at Woot, not sure if they’re being noticed.

@narfcake @stolicat I agree it would make more sense to have it on the back of those. I have a few long sleeve pullover hoodies for that reason.

@ACraigL @stolicat Hopefully it’s being noticed. In the past, zip up hoodies were printed on the back, albeit not low enough. There were complaints comments back then too.

Alas, I’m not staff, so I don’t have any greater sway than anyone else. Indeed, it might just be the reverse, what with how much I used to kvetch about the blanks and other things.

@narfcake @stolicat Baby steps. I’m thankful they’ve finally entered 2014 and started offering more than just t-shirts. Now we need color choices, and THEN we can complain about zippers.

@ACraigL @narfcake @stolicat (now replying to the zip hoodie comments)… I also was kind of bummed by the zips - I love that it’s being offered on Zip hoodies now, but I can’t see how the zip going right through the design is going to look right - even when zipped. I offered to rearrange my Tea design so it fits on either side but they haven’t really been enthusiastic about that.
Has anyone posted a zip hoodie that goes through the graphic? Curious to how that looks.

Unfortunately, my second design was rejected on the basis of a pop-culture reference. I’ve submitted it directly to woot for consideration, so maybe it will see a print.

For the past couple weeks I’ve been voting on the woot site before I look over here and I must subconsciously know how you design bc I always vote for them. I just thought it was funny.

Can you make a living off of it or do you just do it In your free time, not that I have any design talent, I was just wondering?

@star2236 For some of the elite artists, maybe, but I think most Woot artists have other venues and places where they design. I’m almost exclusive to Woot, and a little to Mediocritee.com , but personally, it’s a spare-time gig for me. My day job is fine, but I like to get creative and it’s a wonderful platform for that.
