@ACraigL voted. I also had to vote on the one spiritgreen did just because I found it beautiful. As opposed to the other Bambi one that broke my heart and almost made me cry at a stupid derby, but hey, I voted, Good luck sweetie and congrats on the honorable mentions.
@ACraigL I’m getting really good at finding your shirts without coming here first. I go to the derby and try to pick yours out. Lately I’ve gotten them on the first or second try. I vote then come here just to say voted! And make sure you didn’t have more than two in the derby. Yes I’m easily amused. Loving this week’s (closest I could get to the you are here symbol)
@mehbee Aww, that’s awesome! Thank you. I’m not too proud to admit that this one was a bit weak. I had very little time and and whipped it up last minute. But I hope to be more productive in the next few derbies!
Here’s mine this week. I’d like to use a relaxed style more often, one that comes naturally. I often get bogged down trying to make ‘perfect’ lines or emulate a particular style, when really it’s more appealing to work quicker and have a bit more spontaneity.

@jasneko@sammydog01@Spiritgreen I’ve noticed one other artist doing some looser/rougher designs at times too, and I don’t mind it at all. Depending on the subject, a design that “looks like you spent an hour on it” is preferable over a highly detailed and polished design that took days on because of how quickly it grabs the viewer.
(I’m using quotes above since it was commonly said back in the busy derby days. FWIW, that sometimes wasn’t far from the truth for one because sometimes that was all the time he had between his studies!)
Probably the most ‘perfect’ really complicated shirt I’ve ever made was Moebius Kart, it took weeks to draw and there’s nothing that I look back and want to fix, but people kinda just went ‘eh, that’s nice’ and bought a few and went back to looking at the fun doodly stuff.
@narfcake@sammydog01@Spiritgreen I know what you mean. The time/details/tightness I spend on a design doesn’t necessarily translate to votes or notice. Whereas sometimes the quick ones do really well. It’s hard to gauge when you’re in the thick of the creating process.
@narfcake@acraigl@spiritgreen I’m confused to what’s going on now as there isn’t any date/ending info up on this derby. When does it end? When is the next derby? Are mini derbies now a regular weekly event, or was that a one time thing? Man it’s hard to find info in the forums! (or maybe it’s just me because I am not getting the hang of finding my way around! )
@ACraigL@jasneko@narfcake It -is- like they’re trying to confuse us! This current derby is the year’s best sellers - some winners, some side sale shirts that did well.
The mini-derby was a one off, at least for now.
The next derby starts on Thursday, when things go back to normal. The theme is animals + movies / books / television. A pop-culture twist on animals. I can’t find the rules because they aren’t showing them anymore…
