@sohmageek: Thank you. I thank you, my daughter thanks you, and so do a very large number of people who do not necessarily want to drink tea. That was very worthwhile to watch. Very.
@sohmageek Of course I watched the video. What kind of an idiot do you think I am? What I said holds; I love tea. Do you need me to spell it out for YOU? And tea is NOT dirty.
… or you could be lucky enough to have been taught by your parents and to have taught your kids the classy way to serve or not serve tea. No video required.
The remaining challenge - the one that today makes commonsense kids at universities not want to even consider buying the tea in the first place? Being accused of serving tea when you didn’t.
@sohmageek(To put some context on my reply to self… we have two daughters who recently graduated from major universities so we are certainly sensitive to improper serving of tea.
The followup comment was not only “triggered” by media reports of false tea serving, but also our daughter witnessing it herself.
Concern about this counter-issue due to: we have a son who will (we think) attend college in the near future.)
@sohmageek they use the phrase “this is the important part, never force tea” at least 4 times so, other than at around 1:45 remaining in the video, there is very little satire. Commentary, yes.
It has become a cautious, cautious world. Even simple joy often requires caution.
Wait a second, is tea being used euphemistically here for something?
(@mfladd - sorry about the big word, but at least I didn’t say portmanteau.
…
Whoops.)
I did.
Tea is the only drink I know with a video like this.
Bit strange about societies obsession with tea. Just look at The Restaurant at the End of the Universe. Arthur almost got them killed because of THAT drink.
@FruityFraug Because the statement at the beginning “Still struggling with consent? Just imagine instead of initiating sex you’re making them a cup of tea.” didn’t clue you in?

I suppose I should play the vid.
Nice vid.
Everything is dirty, if viewed just right.
Meh should probably sue and destroy the vid makers, just for fun.
@sohmageek: Thank you. I thank you, my daughter thanks you, and so do a very large number of people who do not necessarily want to drink tea. That was very worthwhile to watch. Very.
@Shrdlu
@sohmageek
I suppose i was too busy being clever and cute to mention that the vid is spot-on, clean and clear and direct.
Thanks for reminding me. Thanks for posting vid.
I like tea. I love tea. @sohmageek, you said tea is dirty? Noo, it’s not. (Must be a generation thing.)
@Barney Tea destroyed his speakerdocks, so he’s dead set against it now.
@Barney I too love tea. Many kinds of tea. Did you watch the video? Me thinks you may be blushing when you understand what tea is referred to in it.
@Barney @sohmageek @dashcloud
Purple tea, purple tee, or purple t?
@sohmageek Of course I watched the video. What kind of an idiot do you think I am? What I said holds; I love tea. Do you need me to spell it out for YOU? And tea is NOT dirty.
@FroodyFrog or Purple @FruityFraug
/image purple frog
@Barney if you are setting out tea for more than 4 it may be a bit dirty (in someone’s mind) I didn’t mean tea was always dirty.
The Thames Valley Police, teabagging since 1968.

@RedOak there is a follow up video that I posted then deleted. As I realized it wasn’t the same positive video as this one.
@sohmageek (To put some context on my reply to self… we have two daughters who recently graduated from major universities so we are certainly sensitive to improper serving of tea.
The followup comment was not only “triggered” by media reports of false tea serving, but also our daughter witnessing it herself.

@RedOak here’s the follow up then. It may be satire against the 1st one. But interesting lesson in how some people can (and do) manipulate the system.
@sohmageek they use the phrase “this is the important part, never force tea” at least 4 times so, other than at around 1:45 remaining in the video, there is very little satire. Commentary, yes.

@RedOak who sits down and talks about tea with their kids? that’s weird.
@katylava @RedOak
Well, I mean, if your family owns a tea company such as Lipton, Snapple, or Nestea, then I’d imagine tea conversations would come up.
@FruityFraug ok that’s a good point
@RedOak @FruityFraug oh, i bet they talk about how to properly serve tea all the time England though
@katylava you haven’t seen my tea collection…
@katylava @RedOak
Isn’t there a tea etiquette class in their schools?
They’re born with instincts about tea, but not necessarily for when they want to serve other people tea.
@katylava raising kids to be responsible, classy and respectful has little to do with tea. Nothing “weird” about that.
And that is not (at least for responsible parents) the responsibility of schools. @FruityFraug
@RedOak @katylava
I feel like I’m missing something…
@FruityFraug Either that or you’re pulling legs.
@RedOak
Watched it 3 more times.
Now I’m confused why police would need to release a video telling people not to force people to drink a hot liquid.
@RedOak does your son like tea?
@sohmageek hang on, your tea collection? in the context of this whole thread, that’s just a little
@DMlivezey no I was talking actual tea.
@sohmageek Interesting that this second video uses the woot! logo…
That was great. Though I think we need one about murdering too.
Wait a second, is tea being used euphemistically here for something?
(@mfladd - sorry about the big word, but at least I didn’t say portmanteau.

@FruityFraug watch the video…
@sohmageek
I did.
Tea is the only drink I know with a video like this.
Bit strange about societies obsession with tea. Just look at The Restaurant at the End of the Universe. Arthur almost got them killed because of THAT drink.
@FruityFraug it’s really about sexual consent, not tea consent
@katylava
Oh.
I TOTALLY missed that point. (I’m horrible with figuring hints out, in case that was never clear.)
Thank you for clarifying.
@FruityFraug Because the statement at the beginning “Still struggling with consent? Just imagine instead of initiating sex you’re making them a cup of tea.” didn’t clue you in?
@sammydog01
No it did not.
@FroodyFrog and BAM! the UN switches
/giphy how do it know?
I almost ordered frog legs as an appetizers last night, no harm intended.
/giphy coffee tea or
So what you’re saying is when my neighbor’s daughter is feeling sad, I should offer to cheer her up with a nice cup of tea.
/cowthink -help
@DMlivezey hmmm, i thought i hit edit/delete - guess not
