@OnionSoup-The best way to remove blood from clothing, or towels, etc is to soak the blooded portion in cold water until it is removed which takes about an hour, or two!
These are pretty useful. We used one at an airbnb as a Thanksgiving table cloth. I’ve put them on the car seat at the beach to keep the seats dry. Would be great on grass or sand to eat a picnic or similar. The one thing it would be absolutely useless for is drying yourself (or drying pretty much anything). Despite the write-up “absorbent” they are not. That leaves the question of why it’s a towel but to be fair I don’t have a better word. Still a deal at $5 as long as you’re not hoping to use it when you get out of the shower.
They are more absorbant after a few laundry cycles.
@elpepe Thank you; this helps me roll my eyes a little less.
Last time they were here (I think they were here), I bought some for my wife and she loves them. She also has some sort of Turkish towel with little tassels and the ends and it is so thin, it’s almost transparent, but she loves that towel, too. She’ll shower and then spend the next half-hour wearing that towel. Maybe she’s worried about drying off too quickly? Unknowable.
Me, I exit the shower, towel off with my standard-issue absorbent bath towel, hang it up, and move on with my day. Maybe I’m doing it wrong.
I didn’t know it was possible to get these for free with my $10 coupon. Now to decide if I want to waste said coupon on 2 microfiber towels that I don’t really need.
Towel is the wrong word. Beach blanket fits better. If you assume the obvious definition of towel and try to dry off with this, it’s more like trying to drop off with a table cloth.
Packs down to 12.5" x 3". What sort of wizardry is this? A 2-dimensional item that unfolds to a 3-dimensional object? I might waste $10 just to witness this first hand.
One set for the house and spontaneous trips, one set to pack away with the camping gear and one set as a gift for kiddo for their daily kayaking adventures!
Are these actually the color pattern depicted (blue/white stripes)? The post says, “Are they available in Georgia Red: Big red stains on these that look like Georgia should concern you”. WTF does that mean?
@tnarg42 they mean if yours arrive with giant red color blotches in the shape of a state, you should worry… Because they’re blue and white, so that sounds like someone might’ve used it to transport something approximately the size of a human, leaking red fluids…
@bobthenormal@tnarg42 As long as yours aren’t delivered via being transported in the trunk of one specific (and sometimes notorious) participant here, red stains should not be an issue right away. And if it’s potentially an issue later, some of us are content to remain uninformed.
@jonesacca
Yes this exactly.
I’ll be heading from Central Alabama to San Francisco this summer and just bought (from meh) a two pack of towels for ours …which haven’t arrived yet. I didn’t notice this sale when it was up so will keep an eye out for them in the future.
What do you think of them? Did it seem like they might actually absorb water (that seems to be an issue for some folks)? Like the idea that they will dry quickly in the RV.
@chienfou Ok. Here’s the verdict: These beach towels are absolutely HUGE. Sure, I saw the size in the description, but was still not prepared for the enormity of these. I could literally use one for a bed cover! DO wash them first. I have not used these, but we did use our smaller ‘Owl towels’ on this trip, and YES they do dry fast and don’t stink like conventional towels after a week in the ‘big grey box’ (RV). Hope this helps & safe travels!
@jonesacca
Thanks for the info. Contemplating getting these if they come back up and maybe cutting them in half? BTW I did buy a set of the owl towels…

Obligatory inebriated feline AI complaint.
Got these last time and they are the best towels for $5 each. Just got 8 more.
Wise Owl knows AI is for shit birds.
Is it easy to wash blood stains out of them?
@OnionSoup-The best way to remove blood from clothing, or towels, etc is to soak the blooded portion in cold water until it is removed which takes about an hour, or two!
@1DisabledWarVet @OnionSoup
Hydrogen peroxide works well also. Take it from an old ER nurse.
These are huuuuuge! Sold

@ergomeh have you washed them a few times? They are more absorbant after a few laundry cycles.

@andymand @elpepe
Some fabric softeners also tend to make things less absorbent.
Aaaand… Fucking microfiber.
@spatialdrift I hate microfiber.
@spatialdrift @Tadlem43 Microfiber you say?! In for 3!!
@spatialdrift @Tadlem43 @yakkoTDI Have these guys got some sheet for you!
I bought them as emergency towels for the car. So they’re wrapped up under the seat. Hopefully they’ll be useful some day.
@sammydog01

Or not…
@sammydog01 You’ll probably tie them together to get someone to pull you out of a snow bank.
I didn’t know it was possible to get these for free with my $10 coupon.

…think I’ll pass…
Creative writeup!
/showme Violetta, the snake-throwing queen of Heritfore
@mediocrebot Nice job, AI art overlords! She’s definitely better looking than most snake-throwing queens I’ve come across.

@scilynt
@scilynt @ergomeh said that they made for a great tablecloth, so there you go!
@scilynt Exactly. I use them for when my dogs roll around on the floor after their baths. They are not towels.
Wish they came in some other colors, but:

What’s with the AI garbage lately ?
@ahmedjan87 desperate for a use case
Quick-dry - because they don’t absorb water in the first place.
Packs down to 12.5" x 3". What sort of wizardry is this? A 2-dimensional item that unfolds to a 3-dimensional object? I might waste $10 just to witness this first hand.

Anyone expecting these pieces of fabric to have the terrycloth nature is going to be unpleasantly surprised.
@werehatrack I was certainly unpleasantly surprised. Didn’t expect this to be a big fabric swatch. I expected something resembling a towel…
Are these actually the color pattern depicted (blue/white stripes)? The post says, “Are they available in Georgia Red: Big red stains on these that look like Georgia should concern you”. WTF does that mean?
@tnarg42 Yes, blue as depicted. The Georgia Red thing is just a running joke

Arrived today and will going in the RV with the 2 sets of towels & washrags I already bought from Meh! Arizona bound!
@jonesacca

Bought two. Stitching fell apart on one of them on the first trip through the washer. Buy two at half price and get a net of one. Meh.
@tnarg42 Did you contact support?

@Kyeh I did, but it’s the weekend. I’m sure they’ll do what they can.
@tnarg42
They’ve always been very helpful to me!
