I really wish Meh would stop selling stuff with replaceable batteries. It’s 2020, everything should have a built-in rechargeable battery and a Micro-USB/USB-C charge port.
@Alereon@finalremix@OCBill3 Eneloops FTW! Those things seem to last forever if you have a quality charger. I put a light string in a closet driven by 10 AAs and an adjustable buck converter. When they start to dim a little I just change the batteries with fresh ones.
@GLaDOS the string of LEDs were from Amazon. I made sure to get regular white and not the ones that can change color. The switch was also from Amazon and I wouldn’t buy it again. I had to repair it to make it work. I would suggest looking at limit switches on Digi-Key. I also found the 10 AA holder on Amazon. It’s cool because it has a female 5mm barrel jack so it can be unplugged easily when it’s time to change the batteries. I bought pigtails with the corresponding 5mm male plug and black and red wires. I don’t remember where I got the adjustable buck converter. It’s necessary though because the LEDs are 12v and when fully charged all 10 eneloops put out something like 14v. The buck converter is more efficient than a voltage regulator so the batteries last months unless the door gets left open.
I mean, it IS magnetic… but is it worth it? I’ve seen these here before… WHO BOUGHT ONE FESS UP here is a pic of my cat wearing bunny ears to sweeten the deal
@JvB This particular bad decision was gf’s idea. I’d like to say she’s learned her lesson and that it doesn’t happen most holidays/every birthday, but he’s too tolerant to teach her.
I also can’t say “we have entirely too many cat hats” because 1 cat hat is too many cat hats, so… “we have more than 1 cat hat”.
@dvermilion@JvB since that is a longhaired cat I would say the only appropriate hat is a cone to keep it from licking and puking hair balls. Don’t ask how I have developed this opinion.
@dvermilion@JvB Do not, then, tell your girlfriend that 18" doll clothes fit on many cats… and somewhere there are pics and a 10 year old (human 10 year old that is).
@dvermilion@JvB@tweezak Might be worth getting a tube of the cat hairball stuff. Not sure that it works as I, too, have a cat who both hates to be groomed (screams like you are killing her) and you’d think I’d never be vacuuming up cat hair for the number of hair balls that can be had on occasion (like any occasion I run out of the stuff). Except that in two small rooms I am quite capable of filling the vac twice. Makes me wonder how come I don’t have bald cats.
@dvermilion@JvB We own TWO (2) cat hats: a Santa hat and a yarmulke. Our kitties wear them every December for approximately 30 seconds- long enough for a photo to prove we have ecumenical cats…
I bought these last time. They work fine but installing the batteries is a little difficult, the magnet on the battery case cover tends to pull the middle battery out when you’re trying to put the cover back on.
Another problem is that the battery cover holding on the very powerful magnet is secured using the tiniest flimsiest screw possible and only into the plastic. The tabs on the other side of the cover are also grossly undersized. It’s only a matter of time until you’re forced to tape the cover on because one or both broke.
They don’t put out a ton of light, but it’s enough if you’re working inside of a dark engine compartment. The ability to jam the light into a small out of the way space and flood the area is really nice.
@jandrese
Well you answerd my question! Saving a $1 and buying today isnt really saving anything when I need boat loads of Tylenol after fighting with changing batteries!!
@dvermilion I’m not. But while the editing of the write-ups remains a constant awful, the professionalism is taking a steady nosedive. Throwing curses around, showing half naked girls in the images… It’s sad, really.

@Alereon you want non replaceable batteries?
@Alereon Yeah. We can never have enough junk in our landfills due to non-replaceable batteries.
@Alereon @OCBill3 But… you can just get some Eneloop batteries for your drawers and then just recharge 'em while swapping out dead ones…?

@tweezak Where did you get the parts?
@GLaDOS the string of LEDs were from Amazon. I made sure to get regular white and not the ones that can change color. The switch was also from Amazon and I wouldn’t buy it again. It absolutely seems like a product that people can buy with currency.

@dvermilion Don’t care about the lights but thanks for the awesome picture.
KRULL! A SKULL! BRETT HULL! AWESOME!
@dvermilion wheres pic of your scratched up bleeding arm or did the cat put that on itself?!
@yakkoTDI i got u fam

@dvermilion I caved and bought them last time. Pretty terrible light, but great magnet

@dvermilion @JvB @tweezak Are you still wearing the cone?
Meh is making sure we buy the light, and get out of the darkness. Gee, that would make a great campaign fundraiser slogan.
/8ball do I need another silly light like these?
Ask again later
@fuzzmanmatt Because 8ball couldn’t see the answer.
Oh Glen! You look like an electronic tapeworm.
Are we ever going to get some products we haven’t already seen here?
@katbyter We just had insect repellent!
I might have bitten if it used AA batteries. AAA flashlights are always garbage

Got em’ last time. Very magnetic, bright enough, but the flexibility is overstated. Overall rating: Meh.
Is it too much to ask that you don’t curse in the write up? Can you try and be professional?
@dam091 You must be new here. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
@dvermilion I’m not. But while the editing of the write-ups remains a constant awful, the professionalism is taking a steady nosedive. Throwing curses around, showing half naked girls in the images… It’s sad, really.
@dam091 The internet is a big place. Feel free to buy your mediocre products elsewhere.
@eddybots do you work here? Are you a meh representative?

@jake5snooze It worked! Your order number is: frivolous-loony-liver

Has anyone actually used the damned strobe setting on their flashlight?
@rpstrong Accidentally. Instant Migraine.
@rpstrong I did once at the scene of a wreck while waiting on a country road in the fog for the tow truck to show up.
Don’t buy the crappy knockoff, buy the real thing that actually works.

OH MY GOD THEY LIT UP GLEN!!!
Such a clever product, whilst at the same time being exceedingly gimmicky.
Again, shipping is glacially slow
