@Stallion This is why I love meh man, sometimes this shit happens to be right up my alley. I’m a plumber who works in a lot of crawl spaces, and if this thing can hold up to some abuse its gonna be a permanent addition to the toolbox. I didn’t even think to look for a LED pliers before now, haha.
@woo545 I looked at reviews for other versions, ie, the single 10" model - exactly the same reviews, from the same people, but with the names switched around. I don’t think a real person has ever bought these.
@craigcush That’s a legitimate concern. I had a set of Chinese slip joint pliers (don’t remember the brand) that detonated on me years ago while I was changing out McPherson strut cartridges. The liberated chunk of jaw missed my face by a fraction of an inch and went through some jars on my workbench 15 feet away. Yes, I was gripping them with both hands as hard as I could while turning the cartridge retainer, but it still shouldn’t have happened. (I replaced them with a USA made brand that’s more appropriate for my level of abuse). It was before big piercings/implants were popular, and I missed my opportunity to push the alt fashion envelope.
I have lots of tools. Tools are good. Interesting and thanks for, finally, again selling tools. But these won’t be joining my tools. Because, Channellocks.
This seems like a solution without a problem. I can count the number of times I’ve said “Gee, I wish my pliers had a built-in LED light” on precisely zero fingers.
@narfcake I like the telescopic action I see on those, but wonder if it doesn’t collapse under pressure. There is no substitute for this tool when installing a faucet.
@narfcake Thank you! And thank you youtube for showing me how that works. I’ve had one of those in my workshop for 20 years and never knew what it was for! I must have got it at auction in a box lot.
Incidentally, they are now selling those with an LED light in the head!
I remember buying some gimmicky wrench off of woot years ago thinking I had wasted money. Turns out I used it alot over the years. So with that golden-rhetorical-orca
So that was weird.
I went to buy…the order screen popped up like normal, except instead of an order form, it was a stretched out video of Jessie’s Girl by Rick Springfield filling the space where the order form should be.
A quick, and confused reload of the page gave me the desired result, and I completed my order, but the image of Rick Springfield mulleted head is seared into my brain now.
No force sensors or accelerometers. No bluetooth. No wifi. No internet. No companion app. No cloud. No social features.
They probably don’t even have an explainer video showing hipsters repairing a sink with their soft gentle hands, while pleasant ukulele music plays. “Tired of trying to remember how hard to turn or which direction to go? Say hello to Tighten! The fun, easy way to wrench.”
Well I am just dawg danged happy I just bought those sweet lil critters. I’d be kickin my boots together up in the air ifin I could jump that hi. Ya know my pa used to say “you don’t need to be a fixin somethin that ain’t broken” I sumtimes say he was right and sumtimes he was wrong. These purtty lil doggies’ will be a workin with or without lights. I kinda like the lights makes it a lil easier to decoratin on all them confounded Holladay’s. Ya’ll have a beautiful night and thanks to the Meh’rs for puttin these out here tanight, ya here. Later ya’ll
@narfcake You could, but then you’d have 4 pieces of junk. From the way the teeth don’t meet to the shape of the clamp to the bolt holding them together, these are a true example of Harbor Freight crap.
@narfcake I have that very set from HF. Three of the four have issues with the way the channel grooves are cut, causing the joint to slip when I apply pressure. After about a dozen blood blisters I finally gave up. Of the set, the one useful tool remains in my “I don’t care if it gets stolen” tool bag in the truck.
@cengland0 I can’t imagine the LED being much help.
@Lighter I’ve used mine more than once! I also use it as a hammer because every tool is a multi-purpose tool when I’m at a pick-and-pull.
@cinoclav Can anyone vouch whether these on meh are any better in real use?
@ruouttaurmind It’s HF; warranty it! Around here, they’re pretty liberal when it comes to replacements. They have several SKUs for these; reviews suggest some are crappier than others.
My HF tools live in my truck too; my better tools are at home.
@narfcake Only the reviewers on Amazon. But just looking at them I’d say they’re of higher quality. Better teeth alignment, wider cut to go around pipes and a proper pivot.
@narfcake I must repeat what you wrote for emphasis.
@ruouttaurmind It’s HF; warranty it! (Or at least do that in the future, you probably already threw the junk away.)
Harbor Freight actually pays some attention to warranty returns. You will note that there are always at least two different part numbers for each advertised product. If one model is significantly worse than the others, Harbor Freight stops buying them, and has another supplier fill the gap.
The products slowly improve in an evolutionary fashion, and about as fast.
mechanic here; in for two. The light is cheesy and unnecessary, but if they are decent pliers otherwise this is a bargain. If they are not so good, they will end up in the garage at home. Sure beats paying $60+ each from Snap-on
That is the price for one. Double it and you have the price meh posted.
As for the Irwin - give them a try next time you’re in your tool dealer’s store. Their locking system works, but it is fiddy. Sure, I own plenty of Irwin products, but not this one. Channel Locks are still the locking pliers to beat. Crescent has a made-in-the-USA contender that is laminated steel and has a more positive lock than even the Channel Locks.
@commodog@Lighter Actually, that IS the price for two but they’re the 8" and 10" set not a 10" and 12" set being sold today. Plus you don’t get that nifty light.
A pair of these type of pliers were left in our house we bought last year, and I must say it’s one of the most useful tools I now own. If you don’t have a pair of these types of pliers, this would be a good time to get a set.
However, if tomorrow the sell a pair with the tagline: "No LED light, same price, just higher quality grips and metal"
Then that would be preferred!
@owenversteeg if you are birthday shopping several months i advance, or Christmas shopping in July, that is a sign you are turning into your grandparents.
Ugliest flashlights I’ve ever seen, but I needed some excuse to use the VMP they tricked me into getting on V day so I won’t be tempted to cancel for another month. Expecting the quality to be mediocre. All the reviews on Amazon look fake.
I am so glad @jasontoon will stay with us after heading way south. Otherwise I’d miss his write ups with nuggets like “(the scorn for which we will eventually walk back when they appear on Meh)”
They arrived today. Box was too small so the package on the larger one got ripped up and the smaller one the light doesn’t work. Ruins my idea of giving it to my flashlight loving dad for use in boat engine room. Oh well meh.
Mine are here as well. 12" looks/works fine 10" wouldn’t light. Quick exam showed the battery cover was loose, so a few turns and VOILA both work. Nice pliers either way. Feel VERY sturdy/hefty and seem to be pretty well engineered, unlike some I have had in the past that slip out of joint too easily. Happy with my purchase.
Got mine - 12" handles are bent while the 10" one is fine and aligned. The packaging was really trashed and the look like they were run over by a forklift in a warehouse to have bent like that. Writing CS…
@dagirlgenius Never head back from ReadyMax so I just called them. They’re (supposedly) sending out a replacement today. If you’re still waiting on them, call them: 800-333-6304
@narfcake Yeah, but those items went in the box in one piece. They just didn’t think about protecting them. These pliers were obviously messed up before they went in the box so they never should have made it in there to begin with. On the whole both situations stress the fact that the shipping crew needs to think a little harder… Where’s @MEHcus when you need someone to return to meh and kick some ass?!
@cinoclav I’ve never had an ass so I don’t have one to drag back over here. Any other suggestions? Also, fantastic song choice @barney, just fantastic. Hope all is well folks!
I didn’t expect much from a $6 pair of pliers, especially with a gimmicky light attached, but was pleasantly surprised to find they are actually quite well made professional quality tools; I plan to buy a couple more for work if they are offered again. As a mechanic I’m kind of particular about my tools, and these are as well made as the Snap-on ones that I am sure I paid $60+ for. They came in handy for putting the tracks back on the snowblower yesterday when they came off during the blizzard.
Hoping Meh comes up with more tool deals like this instead of more knives, speakers, and headphones.
@Steve7654https://morningsave.com/deals/2-pack-readymax-pliers-with-led-light This is a Meh encore on morningsave. If you are a VMP you will get a 10% discount and free shipping. Gave as a gift to a family member who used them almost immediately and the led light came in handy while doing some repairs under the kitchen sink.
Not the best pliers I’ve ever owned. The one set has very lose (floppy) handles, but they should be serviceable. Especially if a light is needed. One light didn’t work initially, but turned on the next day. Haven’t investigated why.
@woo545 If need be, call their customer service at 800-333-6304. A few comments up I mentioned how mine came bent. I emailed them with no response, called and they were very apologetic. Sent me a replacement out quickly. None of the ones I received were in the least bit loose (a little tight if anything) and the lights work fine.

Worthy?
@Stallion Yup…Worthy. Check out this sales page that shows the 10" set with great reviews https://www.amazon.com/Tongue-Groove-Pliers-Built-Light/dp/B00OZYUHEG
@Stallion hmmm. all the reviews come from a one month period over 2 yrs ago… but I’m still gonna bite!
@Stallion Those reviews are planted.
@obxer May be planted, but they are verified buyers.
@obxer fakespot.com agrees with you. I think that’s such an interesting site, hope it’s not fake.

Does everything need an LED in it?
@cengland0 so it appears… my last flashlight even had some in it!!!
@cengland0 No. Everything needs Bluetooth in it. Duh!
/giphy Bluetooth
I think they are over-torquing it with the silly light.
Two-fer Monday? I’m confused.
So they include LEDs but not Bluetooth? Pass.
@PlacidPenguin seriously! I doubt the sound quality is very good in the speakers, either!
There must be fifty ways to love your lever. This isn’t one.
Nope.
Ridiculously pleased with these. In for a set.
Meh, your “Retail packaging” full-size image is broken.
Remove .p to see
@pcolachiller Yes that works but the link to it is still wrong/broken.
I feel like there should be a warning that the t-shirts aren’t included.
@bakerzdosen WARNING! The t-shirts are not included.
Can’t believe I wrenched myself outta bed for this!!
Waterpump pliers with LED lighting?
In case all other lighting in the world fails & you need to fix something.
Great idea!
Awesome Deal, you won’t regret it. Give a pair to your grandma!!!
I’m all for good channellock pliers, but the placement of the light appears it would weaken the structure.
A light?
@craigcush This is also my concern.
But then, they are $13 (either $6.50 each or perhaps something like $6 and $7)…
@craigcush That’s a legitimate concern. I had a set of Chinese slip joint pliers (don’t remember the brand) that detonated on me years ago while I was changing out McPherson strut cartridges. The liberated chunk of jaw missed my face by a fraction of an inch and went through some jars on my workbench 15 feet away. @PenguinOnTheRox hey! I have the same mug!
This is such a worthless concept. I show my displeasure by only buying 2.
Pliers with led lights – get a grip meh!!
These are just ridiculous… so I bought them.
They look like they’re light duty pliers.
@mehcuda67 I appreciated that.
@mehcuda67 He He. You said “duty”.
Finally, pump pliers that help me better see the nut I am rounding off!
@ctom3

@rv617 i just replaced the r/o tap on my kitchen sink. seems like these would have been helpful then. maybe you just don’t install a lot of faucets.
@tjamesturner Truth be told, for faucets, these probably won’t be helpful either. Rarely is one going to have enough clearance behind the basins.
(I have one of these in my tool chest.)

@pburkej did you skip yesterday? It’s just trying to make sure you didn’t miss that video.
@RiotDemon I thought the video yesterday was the Amy Schumer pant sniffing vid? Was yesterday’s Jessie’s Girl?
@pburkej it was in the music videos playlist.
@pburkej I wish I had that happen.
Where can I find a video like that??
LED is the new bluetooth i guess everything has to have and LED and be connected via bluetooth
While I’m still concerned that the LED might weaken these to the point they are useless, I’m going to bite…

@commodog Obviously Irwin makes better tools. Point being, that set isn’t for the same sizes.

Got mine today. One works, the other’s light is busted. Both were opened, but I think that was the fault of the packaging/shipping.
