This thing is nice to have. It works as described, except I can’t quite seem to keep all the grounds out. Which is not a big deal. It makes two good servings and keeps just fine in the fridge over night, so I expect to use this for a lot of summer weekends. For early winter, egg nog + this = fantastic.
@djslack@Kyeh@ManiacalShen theoretically speaking, you can use a plastic 32oz. takeout container too. The paddle enclosure (it’s a cup with a rubberized rim) fits all the way down, close enough the magnets in the motor can reach.
Because the takeout container tapers, the “French press” attachment might not work. (Bad for coffee, probably good for egg nog.)
Bought this a year or two ago when it was $20 for 2 and I use it for cold-brewed tea in the warmer months. One of the best purchases I’ve ever made. I add water, dump in a scoop or two of loose tea (green, herbal, whatever), turn it on, go for a walk, and when I return, I have iced tea waiting for me. (Well, I have to press and pour it, but you get the idea.)
We gave away our second one, so I might need to pop into Ollie’s to grab a spare in case the fragile carafe throws itself onto the ground.
I cannot comment on how well/poorly this works for coffee. There are always a few bits of tea in my mug, but I don’t care much about that.

Twice as fast with two?
@Stumpy91 well, you can make a whole big gulp of cold brew in the same time, I suppose.
The last time I was at the Ollie’s near me they still had some of these floating around for $5 (I think they were a Black Friday special).
I hate to be that guy, but…
I brought up this youtube video and a lot of the comments < 7 days say “I bought this at Ollie’s for $5 today/yesterday…”
@PocketBrain I was being that guy while you were being this guy… That said I bought mine from Meh already, and then they sent me another one in an IRK
@PocketBrain I watched it until the guy fished the cat hair out without dumping the water and washing the glass out. Smh.
@mehrrychristmas @PocketBrain well… That’s an AI generated reply.
@PocketBrain with the $5 off coupon it comes out to $5 each! Hoping that won’t cause any issues with the $20 refund on the IRK.
@PocketBrain Ollie’s is just Meh for people who want to fight an old lady for an area rug
@jouest she had it comin’.

@ManiacalShen @djslack So what’s it like on the inside - is it like a little blender, with whirling blades at the bottom?
@djslack @Kyeh @ManiacalShen it’s a little spoon.
That’s probably the best way to call it. It’s closer to a paddle with a magnet underneath (that gets moved by the spinning magnet in the dock)
I’m tempted to buy more of these, just as 1L carafes with a low powered spinner constantly churning away (like those slushie machines at 7-11)
@djslack @ManiacalShen @pakopako Thanks! It’s probably a good idea to buy more; A-zon reviews say that the carafes are fragile.

@djslack @Kyeh @ManiacalShen @pakopako Just tried this in a 32oz container and it works! Great tornado!
/giphy Thanks pakopako

@djslack @fjp999 @Kyeh @ManiacalShen glad to show what 8 years of engineering school and a degree in English literature can do.
