In a previous deal these were joked about more like 10-mile. (or 8-mile if you’re an Eminem fan)
Truth is these can work great if you have a clear line of sight to broadcast tower. I.e. a strong local signal with no mountains in the way. Ideally even no houses or trees in the way. The amp generally doesn’t to help much because amplifying a garbage signal is still garbage. It also depends on the TV tuner system; some get weak signals better than others.
@pmarin I completely agreed with you until that 2nd to last sentence. At least in our experience (we are located 10-20 miles from broadcasters), adding the amp did add channels.
I bought these from Amazon during a GoldBox deal – well bought 1. They work better than expected, especially in comparison to my previous budget antenna. Though placement plays a huge role as well.
If you’re cutting the cable, this antenna would be worth buying.
You’ll find a bunch of very similar - if not identical - antennas like this on Amazon. Review averages are generally in the 4.0-4.5 star range, but if you run them through Fakespot, almost all of them get an F and the star ratings drop precipitously.
We have a couple old flat panel TVs (and free from the govt, digital tuner boxes) that deserve places of honor in the shop and garage. These flat antennae do work if you’re not more than 20-30 miles from the broadcaster and have line of sight.

I’m sure mileage may vary.

Are these linkable for a 200 mile range?
@MrMark Sure, but they’re only 13" long, so you’ll need about a million of them. Plus lots of duct tape.
@MrMark @swechsler I suppose you could stretch the cables really tight, so you might only need about 100,000. But yeah, that’s a lot of duct tape.
