Just today, I had a hot soldering iron I wanted to put away in it’s plastic container but had to wait for it to cool down. But still, this product wouldn’t have helped.
@awk Removing 2.1mm coaxial plug that had large solder joints requiring extra heat. Also, was lead free solder and that doesn’t flow easily so I had to add additional solder before wicking it up.
@cengland0 i was in the same exact boat yesterday morning! I was soldering in a new battery to an mp3 player i bought a few months back (finally) and i noticed that the lowest setting on my new soldering iron is nearly at the limit for these things already. 200°c would have been fine, but i cranked it up to 350°c to desolder in under a second. Don’t think I’ll find a use for its 500°c setting other than making steam, though.
I bought these off morningsave for $22.50 about a month ago. They work well to hold my hot tools and a couple brushes and clips and clear up my bathroom counter. They stay put better than expected and I’d definitely buy again if I had a need.
But keep in mind that if they are placed so you can see the outside, the logo looks totally ridiculous (mine both face a wall so no worries here).
I just noticed, the specs and the description doesn’t mention which sizes you get – just the colors. When you buy it, do you get the Pro, Deluxe, Original, Hobby, Any, Skinny, or Mini?
@sammydog01 Well, it says “Use this “pro” version for your professional counter-organizing business” and then it was linked. It was as if you should go to that other site if you need the pro version. I don’t use Google to sign in so I didn’t have access to see where that link went.
@sammydog01 I would have read it that way if it didn’t have a link going elsewhere. That led me to believe the item selling today was not the pro version but you could click on that link to get a pro version. I still cannot view the Slack page so I still have no idea what the contents is on that page.
Still way too expensive. I can leave my grill utensils on the shelf or hook that came with my grill. Hot glue gun needs a flat surface instead of a pocket, a silicone mat would work better, and I already own that.
I don’t straighten or curl my hair, so that doesn’t work either.
@dave Or better yet, you could sell them as remote control holders. Have them in your livingroom. One for the TV remote, one for the Bluray player remote, one for the Cable box, etc.
@cengland0 I’m considering buying them as remote control holsters, so this is not a bad suggestion.
Edit: As is often the case, this is tipped to the side of “nah” by the shipping cost tipping it into a different mental cost-value bracket. Not having VIP saves me from so many silly impulse purchases!
@dave So, do you have one of these handy? If I did fill it with tater tots or jelly beans, does the pouch have the correct dimensions to reach to the bottom of it?
Are the pouches sealed, such that crumbs and grease would not fall out the bottom?
@ravenblack Me too. I haven’t bought yet but still considering it. Would fit nice on the edge of my coffee table or even the end table next to the couch.
I use soldering irons and heat guns but they all have their own stands. And I have a big silicon mat I put down when I’m fixing stuff, and it has little indentations for parts like screws. So, nah.
My haircare ritual is to shave my head every couple months so there’s never enough to have to take care of, other than soaping up my head along with my face in the shower.
@Tin_Foil please. Please buy this, and make a thread of nothing but pictures of you holstering hot pockets in places. Bathroom sink? Hotpocket. Desk? Hotpocket. End table? Hotpocket. Please do this.
@ConradHilton If a pair of Hot Pocket Holsters showed up at my door, I would proudly parade them around my home and my town. If they showed up on my credit card statement, however, I might have to move in to them after my wife kicks me out of the house.
It seems like the right size to throw under the headrest so the cup is in the back seat of the car.
Actually, now that I’m thinking about it, this might be good for holding board game pieces to keep the table top a little less cluttered, too.
It’s a shame I’m too poor to buy pretty much anything until we sell our old house or I’d have pulled the trigger on these. When they’re 2 for $15 in a few weeks I should be good to go.

My hot tool would never for fit in this …it’s got to be 3 times bigger
@somf69 yeah it’d just get lost in there. Try some pills or creams or something.
@mcanavino Ohhhh Snap!!!
Nothing hot at my place.
@lordbowen I know. Your mom is over here at my place.
I really don’t need this, but the purple is calling me.
My wife is pretty hot, but she wouldn’t fit in one of these
Just today, I had a hot soldering iron I wanted to put away in it’s plastic container but had to wait for it to cool down. But still, this product wouldn’t have helped.
@cengland0 Well that was a rollercoaster ride, thought we had you.
@dave The soldering iron was at 770 degrees F. These only go to 500 degrees so I’d have to wait anyway.
@cengland0 What are you soldering at 770°?
@awk Removing 2.1mm coaxial plug that had large solder joints requiring extra heat. Also, was lead free solder and that doesn’t flow easily so I had to add additional solder before wicking it up.
@cengland0 wacscally wabbit

You gonna invite me to your Slack so I can see the “pro version” image?
@ateatree Probably one of these:
@ateatree Ha, whoops, thanks for that. I fixed it now. Have a $1 off coupon, use the code THANKSFORTHAT
Pay me $18 and I will take two off your hands.
Tater-tot transporter? /giphy napoleon dynamite
I’ll bet the buyer on this deal isn’t the same guy who landed the Olio deal.
@sourhead you would bet extra wrong. I’m not only a girl but I also bought the olio deal
@mandirose
/giphy you go girl
@mandirose I stand corrected! That Olio deal was a good one!
Humanity was a mistake.

@cengland0 This one’s the Pro version. There’s an arrow pointing at it, but I agree it could be clearer.
@cengland0 It says pro in the text.
@cengland0 pro only, ya know, just the best for you
@sammydog01 Well, it says “Use this “pro” version for your professional counter-organizing business” and then it was linked. It was as if you should go to that other site if you need the pro version. I don’t use Google to sign in so I didn’t have access to see where that link went.
@cengland0 I read “this” as this one here that we’re selling.

That led me to believe the item selling today was not the pro version but you could click on that link to get a pro version. Silicone is also non-stick and easy to clean. This is perfect for snacks. Maybe mozzarella sticks with marinara sauce.
@sammydog01 Or a hotdog, maybe.
@heartny YES! Or a taquito.
Still way too expensive. I can leave my grill utensils on the shelf or hook that came with my grill. Hot glue gun needs a flat surface instead of a pocket, a silicone mat would work better, and I already own that.
I don’t straighten or curl my hair, so that doesn’t work either.
Meh.
OK, jelly beans it’s perfect for jelly beans. I bet it would stick on my desk nicely.
@sammydog01 That’s genius. I wish we had thought to sell this as a jelly bean holster.
@dave Or better yet, you could sell them as remote control holders. Have them in your livingroom. One for the TV remote, one for the Bluray player remote, one for the Cable box, etc.
@cengland0 You could put a remote in it and still have room for jelly beans!
@cengland0 I’m considering buying them as remote control holsters, so this is not a bad suggestion.

@awk nice mat.
@RiotDemon Nice Matt.
@awk Wow, I want the mat. Meh, please find this mat.
I’ll take a Matt as well.
@awk Oooh! I’ve got a magnetic mat, but I didn’t know about the silicone version. Thanks!
It seems like the exact product I need to store my Swiffer duster.
My haircare ritual is to shave my head every couple months so there’s never enough to have to take care of, other than soaping up my head along with my face in the shower.
Less heat products, more cool products.
Gee hot tool holster and no one has gayed it up yet. And I had so much hope for the younger generation.
@cranky1950 Ok…you can use it as a codpiece
@eeterrific geez, much lamer and we’ll have to amputate.
@cranky1950 How does one “gay up” a holster? Add some rainbow sequins maybe?
@awk Indeed.
@awk You bedazzle the shit out of it, and add pink leather fringe.
Yep, read that as Hot Pocket Holster multiple times… now I’m disappointed.
@Tin_Foil you could totally put your hot pocket in it.
@Tin_Foil Read it as Hotel Hoosier.
Been watching Farty Towels too much.
@Tin_Foil please. Please buy this, and make a thread of nothing but pictures of you holstering hot pockets in places. Bathroom sink? Hotpocket. Desk? Hotpocket. End table? Hotpocket. Please do this.

Reminded me immediately of this. Ahhh memories.
For $0.50 a piece I’ll come up with dozens of uses. For $9 a piece?.. Not worth the effort.
@cranky1950 panniculus goals
@cranky1950 Ewwwwww!

These sheathes are much too small for Dian’the, the Holy Burning Orchid Blade!
@ThomasF is that the name of your soldering iron?
@ConradHilton It is a blade touched by God. It can spot weld if need be though.
@ThomasF Good enough for me. Gotta get me one of those then. Let me know when meh puts that in the fuko.
My vehicle doesn’t have enough storage… These may help but it seems Meh doesn’t ship to Canada, eh??
@EveryBodyLovesK never did. Some Canadians use a mail forwarding service.
